  1. IMO, too early. I'd let them grow a decent bit, then top them when they're big enough to take tops that are 3 or 4 nodes tall. Put the tops in some water and leave them outside, the photoperiod is short enough now that they will likely show sex before they die.
  2. Thanks hochy Today I picked my first pair of balls off HP1. Got a feeling I'm gonna be doing that a lot in days to come, sadly. On the bright side, smell and frost is starting up! Such a toxic fucking smell though, lol. Moth balls and Jik, I swear to god. xD
  3. Planters finished. imsotiredsomebodykillmeplease
  4. I'm very excited for that clone! BTW, what light cycle has it been kept in? Unfortunately the LECA things aren't even available at my local stores. Perlite, as stated, is ridiculously expensive. I was thinking of just buying some red wrigglers, they'd probably do a fine job of aerating the soil and would also help build that lekker soil ecosphere. ;P Also I could use them to start a proper vermicomposting system. I've also been thinking of making charcoal in my parents' Weber braai thing and putting some of that in the bottom of the bed. I've done an experiment on water-holding and weight. The dry charcoal of hardwoods is extremely light, 10 grams had a volume of more than 20ml, which is quite a bit lighter than most compost and natural soils. I've got that sample of charcoal soaking in water. It's absorbed 6.6 grams of water over the course of 5 or 6 days of total submersion, and still lighter than natural soil despite absorbing so much water. Even if it isn't aerating if it absorbs too much water, I think it'll have some use in the soil mix.
  5. 2.14 metres long, 0.6 metres wide. I'll build the sides (0.4m tall) later today or maybe tomorrow, fill that baby up with some dank soil and update y'all when I'm done.
  6. MUCHOS UPDATES So yesterday I smoked a little joint rolled out of the flowers from my dead male. Got high as fuck, lol. The power of not smoking weed every day. This evening, I took a shroom microdose and then got about half the construction of the raised bed's "floor" done. Photos attached, of course. Tomorrow I'm gonna finish it up. You can see I abandoned that idea with the diagonal planks for the sides. It was going to be way too much effort for, probably, very little reward. I also decided that I want to build two units that are seperate, rather than just a single huge unit, since it'll be easier to move them if I ever need to. Also, have a bunch of pictures of my plants. Tomorrow, if I work quickly enough, they'll be transplanted into a soil mix similar to the one 420SA recommended to me. I'm skipping out on the perlite probably, since my local suppliers are all marking that shit up over 9000% or something (R40 for a 2 litre bag.... with no bulk options.... yeahhhhhh no thanks). Gonna grab a bunch of coco coir instead and hope for the best.
  7. Aloha Hochy ;P University has resumed and I'm still sick so I haven't been doing anything for the past couple days other than go there and come back, sleep, rinse/repeat. The guerilla spot was abandoned because the soil was so damp. It clumped together like modelling clay, and the raised beds I made literally sank back into the earth over the course of a couple months. Also bugs for days that ate my seedlings. xD The plants are doing pretty well. I'm probably going to take a couple photos tomorrow. HP1 has beautiful pink stigmata, a real swazi girl. The rest of them are doing okay. The one lady that was previously co-existing with the male has BOOSTED into gear, like it's put on 5 nodes and GIANT (the biggest of all the plants) healthy green leaves. I'm hoping to make some progress on the raised planter today and tomorrow, and finish it before the weekend. I've already got all the wood broken apart from all the pallets, and removed all the nails. I literally just need to cut them to size, then screw it all together.
  8. She's a real lanky lady! I'm excited to see what she's gonna look like at the end of April.
  9. Thanks, Hochy. ;P I'm coming down with some kind of flu or infection in my upper respiratory system... so building today is out of the question. Life is a bit of a bastard, sometimes.
  10. Here's some update photos! I'm emphasizing the huge piles of wood here because I've been tearing pallets apart with a screw driver and a hammer for fucking *ages*, and frankly I'm just impressed with myself. Tomorrow, I plan on actually building the entire thing. Or at least half of it. Will *hopefully* be able to fill it with soil and transplant the babies next weekend at the latest. Classes are resuming so my free time is going to be hitting zero real hard, real quick. HP1 is flowering quite happily. HP2 has started flowering. The accidentaly topped plant has begun to recover, and so is the lady who was previously sharing it's pot with a male. I suppose transplanting plants that are already flowering is... suboptimal? But I think having a little extra root space with some better soil might end up giving me a better end result.
  11. I'd be keen to see fluxing and mainlining! I'm gonna try out mainlining next season if I'm staying where I am for another year.
  12. I'm all about those 2D games. Rayman, Owl boy (fucking play this game if you have a couple days free!), Limbo, Teeworlds, CS2D, and many many others. I think I have over 4000 hours in Teeworlds, I played it for 8+ hours a day for over two years, lol. I also played CS:GO a bit, but didn't have enough time to git gud. Highest rank was MGE.
  13. Hi Liam, welcome to 420SA. I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder as preteen and carried that with me until I started smoking cannabis regularly at about age 15 (albeit infrequently at first). So I think I understand you there. The sleep thing... Well, I still use weed to help me sleep to this day during exam periods at uni, hehehe. That being said, I've seen some studies that claim cannabis causes abnormal brain development if used frequently by adolescents so I can't say "ja, go for it man" without any hesitation. Then again as someone on the spectrum you are already a bit "abnormal" (no offense intended), I suppose, so these effects may be significantly different on you. I don't think there are many studies about ASD and cannabis. I unfortunately can't really offer you any advice or experience regarding your family or Social Services. One thing that kind of messes with me is why would they take your sisters? I don't see any obvious 'protest' route you can take here since as a minor you basically have no say in anything according to our fucked up societal standards...
  14. Here's rough plans. I fucked up a bit while drawing but I think it's understandable.
  15. I've heard about Black Water online before but never seen (nor smoked) it IRL. All of the strains sound really nice, though, hehe. I've pretty much always smoked swazi except for the occasional bit of indoor, mostly cheese varieties. Let us know what they're like. ;P
  16. JustinHemp420[/member] Yeah I am in CT, check your PMs. ;P Got the pallets. Basically did half a day of hard labour in exchange for these bad boys. 14 of them all in all. I'm gonna draw up my plans and post them shortly.
  17. Yeah I could clone it for sure JH, that's actually how I got it originally. However, I wouldn't know how to give it to you securely lol. Also, today I'm gonna go pick up a bunch of pallets! I'm leaving real soon. I'll post some pics of the plans for the raised bed later today or tomorrow perhaps. Not sure how raised I can make it though, kinda worried about neighbour's kid peeping over the wall.
  18. Shame to hear about the bee. You feeling a bit better now? When I was a kid I used to catch bees in little bottles and listen to them buzz around inside. Still waiting for the karma to come back around my way for doing that. xD
  19. Every time I read this thread I find myself wanting to scream "MORE PICS!!!!" You started harvesting yet, JH?
  20. So, here's some update pics. A few closer pictures of the non-HP plants, since they haven't really gotten any individual attention in a while! For the past little while I've been training branches using lead fishing sinkers. You can see which plants have only just started on this new "exercise routine" because they are bending over like a hurricane is going past. The results have been decent, the plants which have been receiving the weight training for a while now have *BEEFY* stems. Unfortunately this method is not that great, because it's difficult to get fine-grained control. I switched back to my "string and sticks" method for HP2 to try and pull all the branches out from eachother. You might notice that for the first time in a while, you can actually see HP2's main stem through all the leaves. xD If anyone is wondering why EL1 looks like a skeleton, it's because I accidentally topped it a couple weeks ago while trying to do "low" stress training. I've noticed that the EL plants all have the symptom of leaves dying and drying out as they grow. The other seed sources seem to have this to a much lesser degree, or not at all. Not sure if that's just a coincedence, maybe my first batch of soil was worse than my second one? P.S. Check my boss granidilla plant. It stretches out for another ~4 metres on the right side of that picture.
  21. Alright, I'm gonna cut the affected leaves (there's maybe 3 or 4 in a bunch, all right next to each other) now, as well as just generally thinning the plant out a bit. I suspected that the sheer amount of wind coming through this little part of my house would have prevented the PM, but I guess I was wrong. Is it okay to leave the spraying for tomorrow morning? I feel like doing it at night is a bad idea... EDIT: I think I found the root cause of the PM. There was a nasturtium seedling coming up from the soil which grew straight up into a very dense pack of young leaves. Every leaf (and even parts of the stem) on the seedling was covered in a film of powdery white. I went with a slightly aggresive defoliation strategy. I counted the number of nodes on a given branch, divided by 3 and rounded up, then removed the fan leaves from that many nodes. There is still a shit-tonne of leaves left, so I definitely needed to do this. I'm gonna be inspecting the babies twice a day for PM now. Tomorrow I'll post a pic or two of the new training setup I've just done. (Spoiler: Do your plants even lift? Mine do.)
  22. I think I might be getting mold development on HP2..... Time to defoliate? The leaves on this plant are all VERY close together, I must admit.
  23. Welcome back, Bart. Or should I say Hochy, hehe. May I ask why you dropped the other account or is that rude? Figure I'll post a couple photos of the babies I took now. Please don't be alarmed by the colour folks, the Seagrow has greened them up substantially. I just took this photo like 2 minutes before the sun set, entirely in ambient light. My model of phone isn't well acclaimed for its camera's performance in low light. The plant mentioned earlier (HP1) that is starting to flower. I'm not sure if it's going to stretch a shit-tonne more or if I'm just training a bud horisontally at this point. The internodal spacing on the main stem is less than a cm between the top 5 nodes that have new branches growing from them, and it's been pushing these nodes out at a helluva pace. Hectic. Also it's sibling, HP2, is definitely in a stretching mood, and is taking full advantage of the Seagrow. I have counted 11 growth tips on that plant. I'm quite excited at the thought of seeing what they're gonna look like a couple months from now. Also, ten brownie points to the first person that can tell me which rolling papers I used. EDT: So, two of my attachments just... didn't appear. So yeah.. Also, I should say: the pallets will probably be coming through in like 2 or 3 days. Stand by for some DIY shenanigans!
  24. Gave them their first Seagro (+ epsom salt + a tspn brown sugar) feeding today. Hopefully they'll start greening up with the extra nitrogen... Also, a pretty important update since the last time: HP1 has begun shifting from vegatative growth into that typical "I'm about to explode" mode (pic attached), where the growth tips start stacking on a whole bunch of growth coupled with a lot of white hairs. It's branches are also starting to harden up somewhat. I'm going to continue training the main-stem horisontally until said main-stem starts alternating nodes, then I reckon I'll let it grow as it likes with some strings to keep things spacious. And lastly: All the plants but one are showing female flowers (the one is the confirmed male from earlier). Me suspects there will be much hermie in my future.. Oh well, it was always gonna play out this way, bagseed grow and all.
  25. https://southcoastherald.co.za/262343/massive-bust-sheppie-hawks-swoop-six-secret-south-coast-drug-dens/ I despise the phrase "drug den" and feel like screaming at the cops "hydroponic growing has been commonplace for like 50 years or more, that's not a fuckin laboratory"
