  1. think I’m just looking for an outing wouldn’t that coal be charged with beneficial and diverse microbes now a few days after the fire which would benefit your soil much better than regular coal?
  2. Hey guys, I wondered if any you thought of collecting ash and coal among other decomposed matter after this fire that took place a few days ago? I’m planning on building a soil bed for summer and just dug up the hole, removed the dirt, and was about to fill it up with soil until I had the idea that I should collect as much ash/coal/organic matter and lay that under my bed of soil. It’s seems like the perfect time to start preparing your garden summer and there’s so much organic matter that can be used to fertilise your beds
  3. Day 40 update: made and gave my plants a seed sprout tea on 420 (barley and corn). Was such a lovely treat that girls reacted well to say Thank you. purpose of the tea was provide the plants with amino acids to increase nutrient uptake and resistance to environmental stress as my temps and humidity cannot be regulated, however, they are not too bad with the last 3 days being around 48-55band my temp reaching highs of just under 30s during lights on. Not a big concern as that temp is only that high for 2 hours max, also around the time they get watered daily.
  4. I gave my plants it’s first SST yesterday and they all look like it was well received. I did however, have white residue on some of the leaves(hand pour the tea) that made me worry whether I had powdery mildew but after proper inspection, the areas that have this white residue on it was situated where water could be collected by the leaves .eg. Where the stem meets the leaf and in the groves of the leaves. it look more like white paint or baby powder than fungi looking and came off the leaves quite easy. I plucked those leaves just in case but threw them away so don’t have any pics to show.
  5. @SkunkPharm I’m in the process of sprouting the seeds, however, found fungi growing between the seeds. Is this still safe to use. There’s also like the white dots on the corn that wasn’t there prior to germination
  6. Found this really cool report testing CBD against Covid-19 both in vitro trials as well as a small number of patient trials both of which has showed a reduction in infection and replication rates. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7987002/ found this paragraph very interesting: “Given that CBD preparations containing substantial amounts of CBD are taken by a large number of individuals, we examined whether CBD exposure might correlate to a decreased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Analysis of over 93,000 patients tested for SARS-CoV-2 at the University of Chicago Medical Center showed that 10.0% tested positive overall, but only 5.7% of the ~400 who had any cannabinoid in their medical record tested positive (Fig. 6). Patients taking CBD versus other cannabinoids had an even lower rate of testing positive (1.2% in 85 CBD patients versus 7.1% in 113 patients taking other cannabinoids, p=0.08). This finding that patients taking other cannabinoids had less protection against viral infection is consistent with our cell culture studies. Since multiple potential confounding factors could explain these findings, including age, race, clinical morbidities, and sex, we matched 82 patients who were prescribed oral, FDA-approved CBD (Epidiolex®) before COVID-19 testing to patients who had no indication of taking any cannabinoids but had comparable other characteristics including similar demographic characteristics, clinical comorbidities, and records of other medications in the two years before COVID-19 testing (table S1). Of the patients prescribed oral CBD before their COVID-19 test, the most common morbidity categories were hypertension and conditions with immunosuppression. Strikingly, only 1.2% of the patients prescribed CBD contracted SARS-CoV-2 whereas 12.2% of the matched, non-cannabinoid patients tested positive (p=0.009), suggesting a potential reduction in SARS-CoV-2 infection risk of approximately an order of magnitude.”
  7. Thanks for all the feedback. Yeah at some point I’ll probably have to invest in one was just hoping that the apps could at least give you a guideline that you could work from haha another piece of equipment has been added to the bottom of my wish list. The list keeps getting longer and longer...
  8. Yeah definitely more confusing than helpful. Have you tried any paid app?
  9. Hi not sure whether this has been posted or if this is the incorrect subtopic to post this question, but has anyone used any phone app par readers? I’ve tried the free ones and can’t get any consistent readings
  10. End of week 5 today and plants are looking great. My humidity seems to be under control. My temp rises to a maximum of 29-30 which is a couple hours before lights off(1pm -6pm). Have a little concern for my one plants as the leaves are displaying either underwatering or wind burn or perhaps something I’m not aware. Uploaded some pictures if anyone can help confirm what it is
  11. @SkunkPharm @Bos @FridgeDoes anyone of you know where I can buy sweetcorn kernels and malted barley in Cape Town to make seed sprout tea. My plants are in the first week of flower and would like to add some amino acids to increase the uptake of nutrients
  12. @The_StonedTrooper yeah I’m trying to hone in on specifically amino acids because I want my uptake of nutrients during my flower stage to be as optimal as possible. Can’t afford to get an AC and/or humidier at home so will never get my humidity down to 40-50(Cape Town) which i understand to be important as it has something to do with the process of storing moisture and thereafter affects the uptake of nutrients. I’m learning as I go so thought if I’m not providing my plants the optimal environment, I could increase its ability to uptake nutrients organically to sort of balance it out. As I was pondering on how I can achieve this I saw this product (bio-heaven) that is actually exactly, what I believe, to need for the above reasons, obviously with a whole lot more. Also I read that amino acids also help the plants with environmental stress so as it’s difficult to regulate my environment other than with an inline fan and oscillating fan think it would be an added bonus
  13. Nice will definitely keep an eye on your results. Im considering doing an autoflower outdoor grow starting May/June. I’m building a little shelter(for summer) at the moment to protect it from harsh conditions so once that’s ready I don’t think I’ll be able to resist testing it out
  14. @Promthat bio heaven sounds as it’s name. I was reading over the product description and see that there’s plenty of emphasis on the amino acids that help the plants take up more nutrients. For those of us who can’t afford it, can a sprout seed tea be used as an alternative? Not asking whether it would be as good or effective but essentially whether it who does the same/similar job?
  15. @Weskush it’s going great! I’ve started a journal for my grow, you welcome to check it out. hows your grow going? From what I read, you growing outdoor? Not an outdoor grower but isn’t it the wrong time of the year for outdoor grow?
  16. I’ve added another light to today for flower so hoping my plants stretch nicely from here on out I decided to give the plants a mini feed (1/2 dosage) today with bio Kelphos as they look like they can handle the nutes. my temperatures are starting to climb up to 29-30 but will check again in hour to see if it gets any higher than that. Was reading autos like temperatures of 28-31 but will double check if that is indeed the case
  17. Plants looks extremely great today after the Epic foliar spray. gave them a full dosage of bio boost and bio nitro today the biggest plants are starting to show signs of flowering now literally at the end of week 4(day 28)
  18. Forgot to add - gave the plants another foliar of Epic 5:2 today.
  19. Day 27 today since the tea the plants have shown massive growth. just been feeding water(once every second day with daily misting to keep the leaves hydrated) this week after the tea. From Sunday I’ll be using full dosage of bio boost and nitro, would like the plants to stretch more before flower, which I’m estimating to start from week 5.
  20. https://www.futurelight.co.za/products/t8-led-tube-green-red-yellow-blue?variant=618761425 I came across these led tubes the other day, do you plan on using it on your plants? If so, what benefits would they bring.
  21. Hi bro, start with learning the basics, do a bit of research of what method of growing suits you best, whether it be coco, soil, hydroponics. Each have its advantages and disadvantages whether it be difficulty to grow, costs, better yielding, etc. from there do a further research( it doesn’t have to be independently, this forum is filled with people that are willing to help.) on the basics of growing according to the method you have decided and what tools/equipment you require then when confident try it out. Maybe try with bag seeds or cheap seeds first as I found after doing months of research before my first grow, I actually knew not that much but it didn’t demotivate me instead it actually made me realise how much planning and attention to detail you require and decided to increase my effort. Basically whatever effort you put into growing is what will determine the outcome, but have fun at the same time, because there’s no better feeling of smoking your own weed. when I first got myself a tent I germinated every bag seed I could find and messed around with them like my little expendable experiments. I only managed one harvest since Aug last year which yielded about 20-30 per plant while expecting 100s of grams I consider that as relative success considering I made many rookie mistakes such as using tap water in soil, impatience, and general poor practices and now have a bench mark to go by. Only started my proper 2nd grow now because I needed to go back to the drawing board as it can become expensive and already seeing massive differences in quality. I know I’m far from where I’d like to be but every positive step brings me closer to the standard I’d like to be at. also don’t just buy equipment, do a great deal of research in what you invest your money in, spending 1000s of hard earn cash on substandard equipment can really mess with you so do research, ask for a second opinion, even a third, you’ll save yourself from looking back whether you really needed this or could have gotten it for much cheaper elsewhere. This might sound cliche but the more I know, the more I realize I know nothing. That is really applicable to growing weed as many fields of study overlap. I hated biology and science at school but all of a sudden it has become a passion and it’s just amazing how, for me, I was dismissive of certain things only to realise now that I’m older I actually like it. With all that said, it comes down to you. If you want to grow and take that responsibility and act accordingly you will learn but it’s a process like anything else which doesn’t happen overnight.
  22. I’m entering week 4 of the grow now and all the plants are looking excellent. I’ve placed the scrog on now so that I can more training with the smaller nodes as well getting the main stem to lay horizontally. my stems are laying at 45* angle at the moment so well on my way to getting it how I want. I’m 24 hours in to brewing my first tea. The consists of: 1/2 cup worm castings 1/4 alfalfa meal 1 table spoon molasses 1 teaspoon Epic 5:2 1 tablespoon of microbes- Cannabis microbial consortium After +/- 24 hours the smell is like ocean freshness so believe I’m doing it right as there is no foul odors will be applying the tea between 36-48 hours of brewing.
  23. I use orgasoilux as well and had two different reactions. My autos from President seeds was extremely stunted, but my photoperiods loved the soil. I came to realise that maybe the soil is not best suited for autos or at least for early veg. I am now growing fastbuds autos and amended the soil with equal parts coco and ewc in the top half of my pots after seeing the same complaints as you and they loving it. This is picture from yesterday(day 19/20 from surfacing which was March 14).
  24. Your grow looks really cool and creative!
