  1. As per the title, lets see your glass smoking paraphernalia. Glass bongs, pipes and rigs are a veteran of cannabis consumption. This thread is to showcase what you have, what you dream of owning and to showcase the local offerings, be it locally produced or supplied by one of the many retailers staking out their part of the greater cannabis industry.

This piece was custom made by Praxis Glass for my 40th a few months back. The brief was simple, Sherlock style dry pipe, please take the creative lead. It's quite a leap of faith giving someone creative freedom to produce an item which is meant to mark a point in your life. Praxis smashed it out of the park! BOOM!

I run my extractor all day and night anyway, with LED, the cost for me, doubled as soon as I added the aircon to the party, for those days when the room gets to 25deg with the doors open and extractor on. I didnt notice much change in power with fans, or extraction

Bigger one out the room, and smaller back into the room.

This structure is great! Looks super sturdy and those extra poles are nice to add more items inside the tent.

My brother went to fetch my new phone and sent me a photo of it. They upgraded me to the top spec S21 Ultra in black free of charge. Christmas has come early!! The 4 week wait was definitely worth it. High 5 to Vodacom!

I'm not being a douche... I'm just excited.

    This is the issue though.

Over the years there have been a few strains which have become very popular which lead to a lot of breeders trying to have the same strain.

So they take the parents and chuck some pollen to be able to claim it as the "same strain" but in actual fact it is not as the original cuts were not the same.

Let's use an example, let's say you have a very special pheno of a strain called ABC and you decide to cross it with a strain to Fire OG and you decide to call this new cross Alphabet OG and it does really well and is a huge hit. Everybody wants it!

Now strain ABC and Fire OG have been released to the public, so the seeds are available to pretty much anyone... But not everyone is able to get the exact pheno of ABC and Fire OG which you used... However due to the popularity other breeders will simply take any cut of ABC and Fire OG and cross it to be able to claim to have Alphabet OG... Which is not the case as it is not the original parent plants, despite the parents being from the same strains.

This is why knowing your breeders and who released what and being able to trust them is soo important and why a lot of the bulk EU seeds are in essence expensive jut.

Purple Punch is not Purple Punch - just because it has the same name does not mean what you grow will be the same. Purple punch from breeder X could be amazing! Purple punch from breeder Z could be complete utter shit.

Then on the other hand, you get people who are even more scaly and try release counterfeit seeds - I believe this happened recently with In House Genetics and their Pancake lines. There were some lines which had not yet been released, but somehow there were seeds being sold in the IHG packaging claiming to be those unreleased strains.

So where you source your seeds from is also very important!

One needs to also keep in mind the variance with phenotypes and some breeders typically just have a high morphology due to the way they breed and release their strains. So the picture for the strain looks superb, you grow out a 10 pack of seeds and end up with no plants which look remotely like what they advertise picture wise. Other breeders you have a much higher chance of getting the pheno which is what was being advertised in the picture from a pack of 10 seeds...

So to sum it up, end of the day - get to know your breeders and stick to the trusted ones and you will end up growing a lot more 🔥

Buying seed is ALWAYS a gamble. You are NEVER guaranteed the outcomes even if the generation is considered stable.

  5. Week 5 flower.

I still haven't moved the short plant up front, this is due purely to my laziness. I need to focus on the tent a little more.  I can feel my attention drifting. things like, Whats the next run? What can be done better? Fabric pots? Was this SOG worth it...? The short attention span struggle is real.

Tent is looking healthy. Changes have been made to the Nutriplex(now Nutrigold???) recommended feeding program. It's their second week getting the amended program, so far so good.

Canopy starting to show the purple. The tent is a week or 2 behind the moms outside. Hopefully more colour is on the way.

Thanks for looking. Negative or positive, your input is valued.

For more reduced space in the medium. All depends on how you grow obviously, fabric pots being breathable allow for too much oxidation. Living soils do better when they are bordering drenched.

Okay, thanks for your reply. Wouldn't it make your fabric pot behave like a regular plastic pot?

Please excuse my ignorance, I know very little about organic media in pots.

If I put into breeding, what I do my photography and growing, or any project I undertake, then I'm sure the desired outcome will exceed expectations. 🤷‍♂️

Good luck bro, from my experience with other species. I can tell you that its a long road and failures are inevitable. Maybe we need a novice plant improver thread where anyone can showcase their positive outcomes and failures. A place to ask questions and opinion with the goal of getting more people trying their hand.

@Golden-Goose sorry to jack your thread. Good luck bro! I'll be watching your progress closely.

Is there any reading material I can look at on how one can estimate what the outcome would be if two strains are combined, Like is there a specific algorithm to work from, or is it trial and error, is there a way to predict the outcome?

Study Mendels law of inheritance and apply what you learn to the subject of you program.

Then consider me a breeder too, and plans to grow that too.

As long as you have direction you want to take your lineage, and you are doing the work to not only achieve the outcomes but stabilizing the new lines you create, go wild. Why wouldn't you.  The possibility of finding something unique and special is not zero, you just need to wade through the piles of genetic material and be brutal with culling. oh, more space is often the common denominator.

We don't breed. This is just a cool project. Something I've wanted to do for the last 2 years. Clones and seeds will be given away freely, and then we see where it takes us. 😉

If you have identified desired outcomes, and intend combining genetic material to achieve the outcomes you are breeding. Even if it is just to feed your own curiosity. I wish more people would try their hand at plant improvement.

Metal Inline Fan baby. All the noise and all the power! Hasn't failed me for over three years.

BOOM BABY! I'm running two of the same and they have not skipped a beat. If you want to get fancy AMS can supply speed controllers at a bit of a fee, then you have POWER, RELIABILTY AND CONTROL.
