  1. Time flies ^^ can't believe the last post was mid July.

Been busy and worked over my harvest.. got a Tennis arm from dressing 😂 is a first. Sieved pollen last week (about 500g) and while chatting with a friend, he brought up a topic i ignored so far, create THCa isolate. Checked what is needed and got the press heated up yesterday all day long. Used 75 micron pollen as start material.. so the best of the best. Those 20g resulted in very little left inside the bag.. but loads of rosin. Pressed till the last press at 70 degrees was nearly dry from the 25 micro bag i used to isolate the THCa. Had to test it and mixed a little of the flakes into a normal day smoke joint (White Widow, so more an upper).

The smoke report goes a bit like this:

I started to smoke the joint and also started to prepare the food for my dogs. Ripping the chicken breasts to pieces took longer as usual and after i smoked 1/3 of the joint in my normal way, i got hit ^^ Would say 2-3 minutes after I started the joint, I wasn't sure I will be able to finish the preparation of the food. Bit in a blur I managed to mix the rice and carrots.. gave them their bowl each and got asap to the couch 😂 Was a different high as usual. Full body high with a rather relaxing aspect. Lasted 30 minutes, then I had to go shop to get me some food. Wasn't that zonked for years.. will have 2 friends dropping in today to test the material and see if they will experience the same.

Procedure to make THCa isolate is rather simple, if you have the press ^^ Press top rosin, best quality you can produce, then put that rosin in a 37-20 micron bag and press slowly, starting at 35 degrees and raise by 5 on each press till you reach 65-75 degrees. The inside of the bag will turn more and more white.. till you end with white crystalline flakes at the end. Those flakes are the THCa isolate. Handle with care 😉 you don't get much.

Hope that gave others some stupid ideas 😁

I used to also use the Sonoff switches but have since moved on to the Major Tech digital timer. Was a bit pricey to replace all the Sonoff switches but at the end of the day well worth it.

I only use those digital timers.. just do yourself a favor. Take some pliers and pull out the random ^^ put some scotch tape over if you hate the hole. But getting on that random button by accident can be hard to notice.. get rid of it ^^

was just gona say, a timer with a battery that keeps "real time" and doesn't stop with loadshedding will solve your problem. they're available at most hardware shops and electronic shops. quite easy to come by.

however, when it comes to loadshedding you don't really have to worry about light schedule. you should be worried more about PM and keeping your fans on.

when all your fans go off the RH in the grow space will spike to 80 - 100% with no wind. perfect environment for PM spores to take host. especially if you got a full tent and when you're in flower it's much more risky as buds are dense and have a lot of moisture in them already. during flower you want around 30 - 40% RH, a plant can handle a little more humidity during veg, but still shouldn't be sitting in a closed tent without ventilation for anything more than 5min at a time. otherwise you testing your luck as with PM you can never be too safe.

If I had to choose one thing I need to keep running through loadshedding I would rather choose my inline fan over the light.

your light schedule doesn't have to be consecutive. I thought it would be much more of a problem during flower, after 5 years or so of indoor growing I haven't had a single light schedule related issue with the whole loadshedding bullshit and I have only the cheapest analogue timers that also shuts off with loadshedding.

This covers it more or less.. you get those load shedding LED lights in the supermarkets. They turn on, when there is no power on the plug they are connected to. One of those serves easy a 1.2x1.2 area and they are 250-300 bugs, recharge once power is back. Main issue.. they don't know the Eskom schedule, so you have to set em by hand if they should turn on or not (as is dark time anyhow when Eskom shuts you down). Nothing will grow but they emit enough light to keep the light receptors happy till power is back. For stage 8 you need 2 lights you turn on when the other gets empty.. more hassle but stage 8 and ventilation is a way bigger challenge ^^

Light is cheap to bridge.. your ventilation system most likely needs 1 to several serious batteries to bridge 2-12 hours off time. Ventilations runs 24/7, way easier to sort a uninterrupted run time... just a lot more expensive to sort cost wise.

So the interesting thing with CHS is that there doesn't appear to be a consistency in it.

For example, there are real cases of people who get sick if they smoke bud which has been sprayed with neem oil, but don't get sick if they smoke other bud where neem wasn't used.

But there are also cases of people getting CHS from none-neem oil cannabis or even synthetic cannabinoids when there is over usage. Some say it's people just prone to CVS, but then why does hot baths or showers relieve it.

I'm finding it very interesting and in reality, I'm not sure why this bothers me, I've probably smoked kilograms of weed sprayed with neem over the years and suddenly now that I know about this, I'm like 🤨

If you are worried.. just grow without Neem.. is not essential in any way.

  5. There are quite a few voices out there.. some say is depending on genetics.. or how much you smoke for how long. It makes more sense to look direction pesticides in my point of view. I smoke for 36 years now.. the last 22 years daily if I wasn't sitting in an air plane ^^

I used neem oil once in the last 5 years.. and in general try to run a batch without anything in that direction. I never use any chemical mace beside Serenade (biological fungicide) during flower. If I get infected, I remove the plant and goes trash.

I use copper soap rather regular during veg and spray before I flip. If you grow yourself, I think you are rather save from CHS.. but when you buy and the guys spray heavy to save their harvest.. depending what they use, it can build up inside your body and lead to side effects.

  6. The world will have legalized it before SA even gets close. Is rather ridiculous how long you guys keep a government in place not doing their job.. load shedding one of the examples. 12 years and the ANC did nothing... except stealing more money from the SA people. Why are people still voting for those thief's?????  As a foreigner, you just look and shake your head about the mess your own presidents create.. but the ANC still gets voted. 😂

This country needs urgent change in leadership.. very very urgent. Looks like the only task they take serious is filling their own pockets with cash.. just shameful.

Chief, I've been looking around and might try out Alibaba. Could you please link the screens you got?

Would love to send you the link.. but the site is funked.. can't login to my account. My sifts are round and fit into each other so you can do all in on shake (40cm diameter).

  8. Great job ^^ I just try to get a picture...

15th Feb you got the clones from @ORGANinc. so the plant is in week 22 Day 5 (your possession, would be curious how long OrganInc it took to get the clone to the point you got it)... I agree that you get a nice harvest from one plant, but 23/24 weeks to finish a grow.. you have 2 harvests a year 🥺 not including the time to do the clone and grow to the size you got it.

  9. As mentioned before... PM is a climate thing. Those spores are EVERYWHERE.. really.. everywhere ^^ They only get active in certain climate situations. 18-24 degrees warm and 68-80% humidity. You have that, spores will bloom and once it grows it becomes more resistant and can endure more temp range and humidity range.

During Veg i use copper soap and during flower you shouldn't go over 50% humidity.. ergo, you handle your tent climate well, PM should not be any issue at all. If you run into PM in regular intervals, you might want to increase drastically your tent ventilation. Eskom is the biggest challenge in that regard. If you can't fully backup your tent ventilation.. not sure you should start. Light is easy to backup with those cheap LED lights from PnP ^^ you just have to set em right by hand.

  10. Put most the plants out and let the cold clean the pests. Looking like a working concept. Must suck a lot to come from a cost 18-24 degrees to a nasty 7.. and the ass even sprayed the leaves with water before 😂 vaporization chill FTW.

My auto tent turned out a disaster ^^ my clone tent delivered weed in quality i never managed before... those swings.. not even sure I am mad about the loss of the auto tent.. the clone tent made up in quality.. not quantity. shut down will be no option. I have to retry that to get the 2kg I need to make a break... gosh.. i smoke to much :-stoned

She puts out. All the Archive stuff I am seeing now is fire. The Crazy Hazey from Them is also insane. Not my grow buts it’s the big one back left

I sorted the Crazy Hazey out. Nothing wrong with the weed. Strong and beautiful buds... the smoke is nice but nothing special.. i am a flavor pig at the moment. No distinguished note... what ever, any fruit, spices, chem,... just something ^^ and I do not keep it anymore. The Crazy Hazey is top shelf genetics.. but compared with the Ginger Tea a boring smoke.  Might be a good option to breed with a flavor slut to give her more potency.

Dropped the light till the ppfd showed around 650 on the PPFD Meter app I know, it's an app but it's all I've got.

It's now a metre above the tops of the plants.

You got no hanging instructions with the light?

  13. It took me 4 grow runs to produce a Slurricane worth the name. The strain likes it a bit more humid then the average strain out there. Is no easy to grow plant.. but when you get it right.. very aromatic weed and packs a punch. Still pity the smell of the plant is nowhere near the flavor you get when smoking. Have friends calling it their preferred.. so the reputation comes from somewhere.

Is very easy to ruin your weed during dry procedure.. I got last year from a trade in pack some weed, gave my Gelato. Weed looked good, smelled ok, nothing you go WOOOOW.. but smoke was bitter and rather tasteless. The guy said he has sleep issues and need some remedy. I helped.. but not sure to trade weed again 😂 Would say he harvested to early, dried to fast and didn't do any curing at all.

I wonder how much difference in potency a perfect grow makes. Terps, flavinoids etc I understand, growing conditions are essential but potency?

Potency, like Terps, are genetics. You make it as cozy for the plant as she likes it most, she will reward you.

You can be a grow guru and still not be able to turn shit into gold... the breeders give you potency level indications.  GSC is in general given as 18% THC content... we even reached on one batch 18.6%. So there is also a little space upwards. Also to mention, the average potency test result in SA is 12%... what brings most people back to reality rather fast. Growing weed is one thing.. growing really potent weed needs perfection in every way.

My preferred weed.. Gelato.. gets set by the Breeder at 26%.. I haven't reached that even close. 19isch I get, but 26 i am very far out.. but I creep slowly up in potency too.. learning the strain takes time.

Next factor of potency is how you dry, cure and store it. Wrong way and you reduce potency.

So to make it short, if you keep all parameters from Germination, Veg, Flower, Harvest, Dry procedure, Curing procedure and Storage in the green areas.. you will get rewarded with the potency the plants genetics have to offer.

Anything else.. Veg to dry, flower to wet, Temps out of range (18-25 i see as sweet spot range), dry climate off, cure humidity to low or to high, ... any pest hindering the plants development, any feeding lockout or deficiency, light strength, leaf sugar content.. every factor will reduce a bit potency from the max to reach. You want max potency weed, you have to be perfect yourself.

  15. At least are all regular seeds in that shop... what inceases the interest right away. Nothing genetically changed... easy to make your own seeds... then you can hunt phenos as long as you are in the mood.

But picture this... you buy those 19k seeds and customs confiscate them.

Right now... not importing seeds myself... lost to much cash.  And now even Germany goes to legalize cannabis. The SA government will waste that much time, the rest of the world will have legalized it, till they manage to do their job here. And the advantages for early implementation are gone. Last draft from 2020 said they have to do the work, which should have been done in November 2020, in 2023. And honestly, if they dont implement it this time legal home growing, i will sue the SA government for not doing their job.

Somebody just reminded me that we are load shedding for 12 years now... is that right??
