    Awesome news!!

Those res Temps are still a bit high even with the bennies, but there will be positive improvements.

Even if you can just knock off 2 degrees you will be in a safe range again

I will try to do that with the frozen bottles and will do some head scratching this weekend to find a better solution. i guess i will have to keep the DWC setup for winter times and just do soil/coco during summer.

@SmokeyZero @Mambawana once the root issues are resolved I would like to talk about the other benifits of the ingredients... Maybe we tackle them one at a time.

When you know what you are putting into the tea does, then it becomes easier to come up with other recipes or simpler recipes for a specific application or improvement

hey @CreX that will be awesome to learn more.

I have started my next tea to give to the ladies, I can now say that it must have been the high temps that cause my root problems, the highest the water temp went was 28/29 C. I have gone the frozen bottle route to try and keep the temps down, but that is not going to be fun doing that for the next few months.

    Solution

~ getting a chiller (not going to happen but nice to dream about)

~ DIY some sort of chiller ( might be dangerous for all parties involved)

~ Frozen Bottles ( if i have to but damn that is going to be a hassle)

~ Portable AirCon ( again dreaming of a distant future)

~ Nuke the res with Bennies. ( Leaning to this option)

I gave my plants their first tea a few days ago, the plants in soil really loved it and started praying the next day.

The ladies in DWC has stopped going backwards, meaning they don't look worse than the day before as that was what was happening, they kept looking worse everyday. I am excited to give them their next tea and see where they go from here.

I have not managed to take a picture of the roots but will do that tonight, eager to see if there is change down under.

I have a batch of LAB going and will definitely add that to the next tea to give it some more Ninja power.

The high temps in my RES is going to continue, my only hope is to work around  that and keep adding Bennies to the equation

  3. @Mambawana i appreciate your input and that would have been my first option as it was what i was reading on the net to do before i asked @CreX for some advice,  i try to keep my DWC system sterile and not winning with that. I actually bought a bottle of peroxide last weekend to use it to clean my res the next time i do a change.  Crex mentioned that even running sterile one can have massive problems. After the discussion I got everything together and started a tea .

If the plant got root rot due to my growing conditions it will come back because the conditions won't change any time soon, brewing a tea and adding it to the RES seems like a lot less work than going the sterile route.

Oh, I just wanted to find out why there is perlite in the res?

Did this plant not start life in DWC?

She was a clone that i did not have space for so I left her in the bubble cloner a tad to long, you can see the net pot is broken at the bottom where i had to cut the pot to wiggle the roots through, only thing i had to fill the net pot was perlite :-blazed. i know not the best choice but it works.

The tea i did have some left over and put it into a clean 2 lt bottle and into the fridge :sillyass , expecting a call or msg later about not having any of my "stuff" in the house, especially if it looks like its been fermenting. (Wife had bad luck opening wrong container and smelling)

  5. @Mambawana its in DWC, each plant have their own bucket, this was one of the plants that seemed to have slowed down and showing signs of leave clawing all on the new growth.

Probably due to the warm weather we had last  2 weeks and I could not really leave the one side of the garage open as we had contractors working at home.

I did clean the roots with clean water but did not try the peroxide yet,  i gave this lady a good dose of tea this morning, i guess she will be offered up in the name of science and will only receive teas from here on.

I want to try the tea route as i am tired of trying to keep everything super clean and sterile which obviously isn't working out to well

  6. Update Time:

Some good growth this past week with no problems in this corner of the garage, i decided to change things up  a bit as i see some of the plants were stretching more than usual. This plant is due for a transplant and will probably do it this weekend.

  7. @Bospatrollie2 @CreX  yes that white stuff is perlite the blue circle, the stuff I was concerned about is the red circle, Its look more brown and slimy than what the photo show.

I hope the 2.5 hours load shedding we had while brewing the tea will not effect it negatively?

I gave the ladies some this morning before work and took some pictures of their roots and also their leaves to be able to compare in a few days from now. I have two clones from the same mother in the DWC system and gave 1 the tea and one will go without tea.

  8. @CreX happy days then,  still using the tea on her when its done. I have been doing some research on Heisenberg tea and seems like people have far better results and less stress than running a sterile operation, I must say it was a hassle cleaning everything like I did,  now I'm going a new route and this should be a nice learning curve.

Just to make sure,  in this bucket I'm using the Part A & B powder nutrients from Growguru, do I keep everything the same and just add the tea to the nutrient solution or must the tea go into a new Res with clean water only? Not sure if the Nutes will kill the bennies

  9. @CreX started my first brew lastnight with some worm castings, compost, soil from the garden, mycoroot, molasses and explogrow.

I had a look at some of the roots on my plants, especially one that seemed to have slowed down,  and I think I might have a problem. Is this the start of that brown slime?

I will use the tea I'm busy brewing with this plant and see if the roots improve.

  10. @CreX haha man i cant even pronounce that word - cyanobacteria by who?  for what?..

That just sounds terrible and being a newbie i really don't want to find out what that is by making mistakes. Guess i will have to do the same research then before i get introduced to more creatures from hell.

I have all the equipment to brew teas just need to get the correct ingredients sorted and then i will try a tea in the DWC system. I have 4 plants in their own RES, so i will use one of them as a test and dump the tea in there.

  11. @CreX looking great, if i wanted to incorporate teas  into my DWC, do i just brew it and add it to the reservoir? diluted or full strength?

Also it feels a bit risky as i try to keep my Res clean and properly clean it between Res changes.

  12. @Dank its my pleasure bro, I will definitely incorporate the DE to my grows and keep that in the arsenal.

@Mambawana I have done two applications with pyrol on the plants i have now and i can see a difference already, checking leave for any sign of life but so far it seems to have done the trick. Only thing now is to keep at it every two weeks and make sure they don't come back.

@Bospatrollie2 I actually came across Ecobuz when i just finished my harvest, i bought a pack and used it on my Veg plants and clones, i used two of the packets and didn't really notice any change but dude i had them bad, i think it will work well for small infestation and will definitely keep this in my IPM. luckily its safe to use during flowering.

  13. @Mambawana shot thanks bro,  I have been reading a lot of your comments and they full of advice, something I never though about in DWC and I was doing it,  just topping up with fresh Nutes into the res, then you mentioned that a person have no idea what the plants have been eating so topping up with Nutes can give you a build up on the elements the plant not using up.  That was *ah ha* moment for me.

  14. Good morning All.

Big thank you to Mr @Dank for giving me the opportunity to grow one of his creations..

I received these beans a while ago but due to my first introduction to the pets from hell (red spider mites) I have not germinated earlier. These Lil buggers got me so negative I almost didn't want to do a next grow. My grow space is in the garage and it's not the easiest place to keep these buggers away. I finished up the flowering ladies with a terrible infestation and even the clones I took was suffering under the red devils.

Did some reading on the forum and dicided to get some pyrol and nuke them on the clones and it seemed to have worked, they resumed with normal green leaves without the little spots and also straight, no more curling.

I feel like I might win this battle,  now to start with a proper IPM and try some companion plants that can attract some friendlies.

I germinated a few strains and for the first time I experienced damping off.  😱

What was this thing "damping off" ? Well it is spider mites cousin from the other corner of hell, death was on my door step again! The seeds all popped and they were all planted each strain x 3

    I decided to go with:

    Kush cookies (Dank's blend)

    Wedding gelato

    Blue amnesia auto

    Euphoria Auto

They looked healthy like normal and suddenly the first one went down, after that it was like the in thing to do amongst them and bam!!

At this stage I was checking if "my guy" is still available on whatsapp cause I know this last harvest won't last and I will probably have to get some "good SHIT" from the always smiling salesman.

Again I surfed the forum for advice and decided to transplant the remaining seedlings, two to be exact. The rest all dead like a seedling graveyard.

Luckily one of the survivors was a Kush cookie from dank.

    IMG_20200102_061933_614.thumb.jpg.90dacffbfe08b8e68e5c72dbea246b36.jpg

I got some of those coco plugs and followed the advice on the forum and popped two more kush cookie seeds with the plugs and so far no damping off issues, I think the problem was maybe over watering on my side.

So...  I'm still growing and hopefully have the pests sorted, damping off sorted.  Next round of flowering will kick off in about 2/3 weeks.

The Kush cookie will be nurtured until I can take some clones for the DWC run, and flower her out to see how she smokes. (one of the 3 should be a female *positive thinking*)

I will keep you guys updated with their progress.
