  1. How do you guys store your seeds? I am bringing a rather large amount of seeds and want to keep them cool. Yes I could store them in my fridge but due to the constant opening and closing it will cause temperature oscillation.

    I was thinking about :

    https://www.takealot.com/2-in-1-19l-portable-cooling-warming-refrigerator/PLID49263780

    Or

    https://www.takealot.com/portable-electronic-cooling-and-warming-refrigerator-7-5l/PLID50118145

Now It may seem like a stupid expense, but my house internal temps are well near close to 28c due to the heat. Least with this it can sit somewhere and no be disturbed and keep my seeds cool.

Anyways how do you guys do long term seed storage?

Yea very frustrating indeed this... I stay in Nelspruit.

It starts off cheaper at the beginning of the month and gets more expensive the more electricity I use. I'm using prepaid electricity and renting. From what I've discovered, it seems a middleman is involved as every time I recharge I get a message stating that I have paid "Prepaid World". Some dodgy local government tender agreement I'm sure.

For instance when I pay R300 I get 123kwh in return. It says R51.75 in charges and that Im actually getting R248.24 worth of electricity. What are these charges?? I always recharge through internet banking but I get the same result if I recharge through a shop.

Yeah I stay in a complex and they charge me misc fees and a network charge, that is already like 500R, the most my sliding scale go's up to is 1.80, so will be interesting to see when i get my bill next week. I'm also renting, but looking to buy a property next year most likely and hopefully in the same complex, but then ill convert to prepaid as to not be shafted as hard by city power.

A month in and the Chocolope is well on their way with another 9 a week out of the soil.

The kabbalah didnt make it. The seeds were too old I guess.

Nice rustica you got there. I have about 5 different species of tobacco seeds if you're interested.  Is that a Hawaiian wood rose I see in the back ? or perhaps and early morning glory ?

I had them germ8nate in a cococoir and perlite mix 70/30. PH is at 6.5. Not just these two who had the effect but all plants. Other plants is in Dutch Bucket with water reserve that has a nutrifeed mix in. We have been having crazy temps in the Southern Cape thus I have moved certain plants out of direct sunlight into greenhouse environment. These two on photo I have replanted in large buckets with Cococoir/perlite/spil mix (40/30/30). Dit mix some nutrients in with the soil mix .

You're locking out nutrients, in coco based mediums you want it at around 5.8. I'd gradually lower your water feeding till the desired range. Doing a massive PH drop from 6.5 -> 5.8 will most likely cause your plants to stress out.

Wow heavy wattage. In veg you can dim it to 40% and still be effective and gradually increase from flower. IMO - My whole outlook on QBs is their efficiency. But ja thats just my two cents :-peace

Based on this I've decided that I'm going to remove the one panel to the other side, run a total of 4 panels in this tent of two of the 600H mean well drivers, dimmed down and gradually increased when in full flower they'll be at 1000 watts (250 watts per board). I have a spare board (320 watts ) and a 320H mean well driver which I will use in a new small veg/clone tent dimmed all the way down.

Edit: Sorry I can't math today, total power will be 1200 watts :P  when running full steam.

Yep I definitely agree with you on that,  In all honesty I was kinda lazy wiring up the dimmer the main boards lol. But I'll most likely do it this weekend.

Looking good bud. Thanks for the updates. Im very keen to see how those QBs perform. What wattage and hight you running currently?

After re-potting into the 20L's last Friday I am now running under 3 panels at 930 watts, I could dim them down or run 3 boards off 1 driver, but that requires a bit of effort, I may tinker and redo some wiring when they're in flower because then ill be running 5 panels and will try to isolate them to 1000watts.

Height wise let me go measure quick: they're about 60cm from canopy, the lights are very powerful so had to keep them away a bit

Getting someone to come round this weekend to sort it out. Then I will be good to go.

On another topic - Is this heatwave giving anybody in the western cape temp problems?

Are you running your lights in the day or at night? If during the day just flip to running at night instead. I am in jhb and I was suffering with 37 degree temps in my grow area. I run at night now and my temps stay a constant 26-28.c with 3 of my panels running each reaching 45.c

Thanks for this I will definitely try make a plan. My ph pen has a thin sponge that sits at the end of the cap which is meant to be moistened with the appropriate solution. I think I have a tiny bit of ph 4 solution but its a few years old. Should I use that or would ph 7 solution work at all for now?

Did your PH-80 not come with a sample packet of the KCI solution? If not just get this : https://designerwater.co.za/product/hm-digital-ph-electrode-storage-solution/
