Came home today to find the power is out. Main power line to the area is burnt through.
Took all the babies out of their light boxes and into the lightest area in the house.
Hoping they'll be ok.

Well well well, spent over 20 years smoking the tree of knowledge and only most recently got the urge to grow for myself. Mid life crisis my wife tells me lol but fuck it you only live once and after recently loosing my father in law to cancer I'm getting this shit down .
Wanted something built to last so grabbed myself some plywood sheets and made a box measuring inside 750mm x 1200mm x 2000mm
Lined it out with Sisalation
Placed some serious hinges and lock on to make it air and spy tight lol.
Had a bit of time to waste while waiting for lights and ventilation so made a 225 watt veg light for anyone interested.
Back to the action:
Got myself 3 x cree cbx3590 3500k cobs hit them together on some aluminium angle iron and rigged them up on some chain and converted turnbuckles for a easier adjustment.
Ventilation costed me a few joints pondering on size and whether to run it full or low, ended up getting a 150mm inline fan...overkill yes but I run it on low. It sucks far better than a Green point lady of the night and is fairly quiet. Still going to put it in a sound proof box and diy carbon filter needs to be attended to, needless to say the carbon filter is also going to set me back a few joints. Seriously need to look for a sponsor....Anyone?
Most importantly let me introduce myself and hope you all enjoy my ride and obviously all comments and guidance is appreciated.
I'm from Cape Town and keen to hook up with all, whether you in need of something or perhaps you can assist me. I'm growing in a mixed soil from hydro shop with all the good shit in it. Currently have 2 female clones of DC OG and Vanilla. Beans are for indoor bag those are 2 unknown from a friend and 2 Critical Mass and 2 Sour Diesel.
That's all for now thank you guys and gals, and no doubt they is something I have forgotten and will post soon.
Peace

Seriously admiring your handyman skills. Great work. Can not wait to see the lovely ladies you grow in there.
Well done.

Checked my babies this morning. All still growing happily in the middle of smoke and carnage.
I hope the farm makes it and the little babes have a chance to become something.

Nice bud I bet you a happy man atm , those lights are awesome. I hope you also got a pair of specs as these lights put out a lot of uv
I did. Thanks for the heads up though. Ignorance is painful sometimes. And I love my eyes

Fires are on the farm we live on. But well contained by awesome fire department. Next door wiped out. Plantation across the hill is wiped out.
We will see what the morning brings. Babies still going like a rocket when I checked this morning.
Pretty stoked though. In all the chaos I took delivery of my CMH lights courtesy of @growguru.
Cheers guys
Sleep well

Sorry to hear bro. Stay strong. Peace
Relief. All is well. Got home today after sleeping in my car last night and found the babies under lights ... happy as can be. Safely transplanted 3 last 3 in their pots. Phew. Happy
-
Respect brother. That's one tasty scrumptious soil mix you got simmering there.
Let's hope. I'm no pro so it's all hopefully ok.
It may all be totally irrelevant by tomorrow morning though. We were evacuated because of the huge fires on the garden route...

Hello all
I found some interesting reads on juicing cannabis as part of a health/ disease treatment and prevention programme.
I'm guessing no one on this forum needs convincing about the wonders of cannabis but as in my case, family members who could really benefit from the plant are not very informed.
Anyway here's a link to a basic article on juicing. And then another link to a tasty recipe. Raw cannabis juice is pretty bitter by itself.

Super yummy recipe

I don't see it as a tea versus soil cooking thing.
I think both are necessary processes at different times.

Yay, how long will they stay in these pots? What type of lighting will you veg with? Have you tried brewing compost teas?

The 2 early sprouters are in 14 cm pots now.
Potting soil /pearlite/cocopeat.
That's the two California Hash Plants.
The other 3 will stay where they are until their serrated leaves are a bit bigger and they have a bit more root. Then into the same mix of soil as above, probably on Thursday.
The soil I have cooking is all my soil from 4 fabric grow bags - around 80l soil. I've added a bit of lava rock dust, dolomite lime, bone meal(organic), a bit of basmati rice , a lot of pearlite a small bit of organic compost activator. Got some worm castings from my worm farm coming in soon.
Had a bucket of oyster shells lying outside in the sun for the last few months. Going to crush half and pulverize half and add that to the mix. Not the whole lot. Just a handful or so.
Getting alfalfa meal and kelp meal on Friday. And hopefully a good clean composted manure.
When I transplant in a few weeks time. I'll have the lower half of the grow bag full of the real potent stuff and a milder mix on top.
Still deciding whether to dry mulch or grow a cover crop like clover and alfalfa. I'm leaning to the cover crop, I love seeing the happy critters in my grow.
It's a medicinal grow so I'm wanting it as clean and potent as possible.

So happy!!
5 out of 5 seedlings have popped their heads out of the soil.
-
Congrats BD! You must be proud hope she brings u heavy nugs
Very Happy!! Now all I need is for the other 3 to germinate and I will be ecstatico:-)))))
I finally got their veg room sorted so as soon as they get transplanted I'm gonna pop them in there.
That's the spirit a game of patience determination and nurturing that defines a grower.
Peace

for sure. Been working on the soil that they're going to be going into for the past few weeks. Can't wait to see how they take to it! The last grow, a few plants got damaged by over enthusiastically added amendments. This time I'm preparing the soil way ahead of time.

Awesome man, well done!
I also germ in soil as I dont like to mess with the seed and have to move it.
Do you soak your seeds over night? I have had great success without soaking but have tried it as I feel the sprout quicker. I have had 100% success rate with and without soaking.
I didn't soak them @slummies. I want to do each aspect of this grow with as little messin around as possible. Simple. Glad you too have been successful with the straight -to- soil method. After all, no one sifts the soil and lays the seeds in a moist towel in nature ;-)
-
One thing is certain these dinafem seeds germ in a day or two. Very quick.
First time I'm using seeds I've bought. So far it's looking good.

Seriously considering a UPS for my proper room. It's pretty upsetting to get home and find lights off in the middle of flowering
On another note I managed to get my first CMH light up and running and it's AWESOME.
:-)
Now if only we had power ha ha ha ha plop
