Nah, no negatives for the plants. If you want clean and sparkly, stay away from organic stuff.

The amino mix I use has molasses in it and not even sure what else, but that is the source of the slimy stuff.

Silica you need to be careful with. Too much can cause lockout issues and adding it in the incorrect order can cause nutes to precipitate out of solution which makes it unavailable to the plants.

I have now stopped using silica again.

Warning about the silica noted. Thanks!

My previous grow I used a res and Blumats to feed my plants. I found when adding the amino and silica in slowly(drop by drop) to my mixture it was less cloudy and pipes didn't get clogged as often. I thought it was the silica clogging my pipes

    Cool

With the silica (excluding any Amino) my res goes cloudy once I add the canna A and B... but as soon as I adjust the PH down to acceptable level the water goes back to clear .

But Amino makes it a slight brown and after a day some froth on top, slightly cloudy and a bit slimy for lack of a better word.

Think I will just feed it separately once in a while going forward. And not add it to the res itself. Take out 10l from the res for example and just add it in there and feed. Will f@ck with my automatic watering plans, but a a manual watering once a week was ons the cards in any case

The Amino mix I use, if added to a res with air stones turns to a weird sludge / gel, similar to a kombucha scoby, in particular around the air stone.

Not sure whether it is a good or bad thing, however it will clog pipes on automatic watering systems and also stops your airstones from working properly. You need to peel that stuff off the airstones and then try clean it up still.

Kinda my experience exactly! Did you notice any negative effects on plants themselves.. apart from the 'hardware issues' that is?

Don't know if I like that shit. I like things clean and sparkly 🤣

Howzit man, cool nice stuff, i'm not too sure about the mixing amino boost and leaving it stand, this i'm sure other forum members will chime in and give you the answers.

The colour change is something to note though, I do not have a clue, but I think given the circumstance I wouldn't lol, just maybe add it in with each watering and leave the rest to sit as you do.

Cool man all the best, look forward to following along/ :-rollitup

    Thanks for the advice

Even though it is not ideal from a "time management" perspective, I will do this until someone can confirm it is okay to have it sit in the rez.

Looking nice bud! These plants are set up for success. What are you feeding these girls and what soil are you using? Did you mention in another thread what genetics you were growing there?

    Hey

Thanks! Still early days, but happy thus far.

    Coco/perlite mix from Freedom Farms.

Feeding Canna A and B, a smidge of silica and a touch of Calmag.

These maidens are all Mango Sapphire from Humboldt. Will only flower the best 8 of the 10. Two pheno's clearly standing out already from a veg perspective. Hope to find 1 keeper amongst them.

Started adding a light dose of Canna Pro Amino Boost on Saturday. But a bit concerned about having this stand in the reservoir. I feed daily, but mix a fresh batch every 4 days, and keep a water pump and air pump in the rez to circulate. Any experience with having Amino Boost sitting in a rez for a few days? Reason for concern is that it turns the feed a slight brown color (not an issue), and after a day it went a bit cloudy (more of a concern).

  7. Okay, thought I would somewhat document my first indoor attempt. The plants were potted up to 7l pots on Wednesday and moved from the mother/clone box on Friday to the grow room. Seems as though they are enjoying the 600w MH.

    Some pics for context.

    Before transplant

Two weeks and I plan on potting them up in their final pots. Will then switch on the second 600w light and have them fill the space.

    Keep safe!

First week of flip and stretch is not so bad so far (hopefully it stays this pace). Currently have blue spectrum on and lights pretty close to the canopy to try to alleviate as much stretch as possible (genetics aside).

Will be placing over net this weekend for support, do some defoliation and start building the watering system for the netbows.

Hello all you growers of different shapes and sizes 😬

I will be embarking on the most unusual and exciting journey, just to show you guys i'm not scared to take a crack at crystals. May not smoke it all, but this is for what the plant will look like given the chance to be grown in peat moss, The specific peat moss ill be using has a ph of 4. This is wayyyyy down there and in my mind could work well when with salts.

Caution, I may need a bit of help, now I know this is a long shot,🤣  but I'm asking nicely and all in the cause of information sharing and votes on what would work best? You would have much control of what Inputs go where. So I've got 2 plants I think will be up to the task.

2 feminized Sugar Widow @Totemic  1 as a Control, and 1 as the EXPERIMENT!

The Substrate - Lithuanian Peat Moss

How do I prepare this soil for the nutes?

     - I need some base of nutrients for buffering correct? I was thinking just adding some dolomite lime, maybe some calcitic lime? Then I will have to PH im sure, jeezz what have I got myself into. Okay I'm surely not going to take the inert salt only route?

     - Then PPM for each feed, can I just let some nutrient batch sit and water as and when?

     - My old school pens need batteries.

     - The amount of perlite that should be added?

     - The pots will be 10l size so I might just add other 10l pot for experiment sake

     - Hard pass on the inert stuff, I will be using molasses, microbes, kelpak, aminos, and feed the chems every other day.

Maybe its not the best test but what I want to do is have whatever is missing added the way I know how, and fill in the majority of the nutrients needed during flower with this bottle of General Hydroponics FloroCoco, I know, lol i'm sure this thing is meant for Coco. Haha we will see.

Because I am completely new to this, there is a big possibly of this thing going belly up super duper fast, but this also I do not care about 😁

All your constructive input would be much appreciated.

literally a clean slate to start and many many possible ways to approach the soil, the grow and the feed.

Hahah..Looking forward to how this plays out.

Worst case we have a good laugh and know what not to do..

Respect for your contribution to science!

So at this rate I might even flip next week Friday, I've topped the biggest bunch of clones to keep them low for now and allow the others to get some height. But for the most part they are all really big, seems to be this pheno is indica dominant so that might prevent the ridiculous stretch associated with in-house. Also had issues with canna nutrients, bioleaf not being buffered caused some issues and was not arsed to do calmag, so I opted just to complete my GHE nutrients and see how far I get with what's left.

I'll be ordering two more net's next week also after having a chat with @PsyCLownI am going to look at getting the netbow feeding rings as well and do drip irrigation during the flower run.

    Hey @greenkush

I am using BioLeaf at the moment.. and canna nutrients. So far ok, nothing real to complain about.. yet I am not 100% sure about the BioLeaf.

Spoke to one of their staff members and according to him it is washed, rinsed and buffered. But if I take "virgin" BioLeaf and run some very low EC water (winkel water🤣)  through it I get a run-off EC of 1.4. Normal??

What issues did you experience? In your opinion definitely not buffered and ready to go straight out of the bag?

Am considering FF coco and perlite mix when I pot up next.

Any other options you recommend? Apart from doing it from scratch with a coco brick and perlite.

Nice healthy plants. What strain is the autoflower?

Got it as a freebie from Bud Buddies, their in house brand.

BCN Critical XXL.. to be honest not impressed at all. Bud structure very leafy and buds generally fluffy. Don't think the exceptional heat we had over the last two months in the Cape helped her, but in my opinion inferior genetics/pheno compared to the Fast Buds auto that grew quite nicely.

Should have harvested her a while ago but could not be bothered. She will most likely get the chop this week and go into the extracts bin. She might just serve a purpose for some sleep meds.

Welcome! And thanks for sharing! That’s something to be proud of man 👍🏻🎉 love it! 🔥

Thanks.. must be honest, the majority of the 'construction' was done by the brother in law.. he owed me a favour or two. My hands are a bit round when it comes carpentry and screws...

proud part will come if I manage to eventually pull something top shelf out of there 🙂

  14. Thanks

Cupboard is for early veg and clones. Maybe a mother or two if I find something worth keeping. Two Growopz 75w fixtures in there.. big saving on the Eskom and much less waste compared to having 600w HID on them.

  15. Hi all

Thought I would start off courteously and introduce myself.

Been growing outdoors for a number of years, and at risk of sounding vain, I feel I have pretty much reached my full potential given the natural constraints inherent to an outdoor grow. My outdoor grows are organic, with either Freedom Farms or Orgasoilux along with mostly the Biobizz nutrient range. I like to use the odd dose of Nitrosol, molasses and Epsom salt too. Used the Freedom Farms Antifragile soil as test this year and thus far I am quite impressed (only used it as a third of the medium in each pot).

Having to wait from May to November each year for summer to come around has forced my hand in setting up an indoor grow. Currently on my first run, plants at 3 weeks and so far so good. Indoor I am going for coco and salt based nutrients, and will have to pick some brains here to assist with the unknown.

Anyway, that's enough about me for now. Looking forward to this journey of mastering the indoor side of things. Hopefully I can give back or at least pay forward the knowledge obtained here.

Apologies for the "low" resolution pictures. My photography skills have never been much to write home about.

    Respect
