I got you. I meant we get the same lipids/fats when smoking, as we do when smoking extracts so I wouldnt look at it in a negative light because of it. winterising, filter and eth purge to clean it up nicely. Do fats/lipids get removed through vacuum purging?
  2. using a coco/perlite mix. I didnt really look at the digital timers, may have been a bit out of my budget at the time. When I water I always allow for additional runoff.. about 10-20%. this is how Ive always understood watering. little run off to prevent salt/impurity buildup.

We get these fats and lipids when smoking though, not specifically when making concentrates. The only way to remove these is to force them to coagulate, using ethanol or something similar, and a freezer. One can then filter them out of the extract. There are whole communities dedicated to making rosin, and swear by it so there must be something to it.
  4. I did the same thing initially, thought I would use a reservoir of sorts with some water/nutes and run some piping to each plant, on a timer, with some resistance to limit the flow. Could never make it work. The timers, cost effective ones, dont do by the minute operations. I worked out the water would only need to run for a minute maybe, but timer could only do 15/30min intervals. Also the water is applied in one location, often just running straight through and not saturating the medium correctly. I packed the stuff away and only hand water now. Also gives me a bit more control I think. Would love to know if you can make it work, and more of the details around the setup, flow, timing etc.

So to further this discussion, and maybe provide some insight into why alemo thinks this process is garbage, we should discuss decarbing. Decarbing happens at around 115c, generally for around 30 to 60min. I believe when decarbing bubble, its best left to decarb for around 45mins or so. Anything after 60mins and the THC starts to degrade. Ive seen alot of guys say they only press at around 75-90c, and this press doesnt happen for very long I think. So decarb is not an issue here. At 145c, you can decarb some bubble for about 7-8 minutes before thc degrades, so if you are pressing for a minute or so, even at 130c it should be ok, however you still get some thca to thc conversion happening at that temp. the higher the temp the more terpenes and cannabinoids gets vapourised. So pressing at 75c to 90c should prevent the loss of terpenes and conversion of the acids? Ive never pressed before, but very interested.
  6. isnt that PH a bit low? How are you dechloronating?
  7. I go on about 3/4 of a teaspoon to a liter. A little bit extra is fine as far as I know.. doesnt need much though, and maybe while its still early days, maybe do 1/2 ts to a liter.
  8. Can see the seeds are opening up and starting to push out the top.. at this point, do I just keep the rockwool moist? Quick dip in some water in the morning or something? I give them a teeny squeeze to push out any excess.
  9. Tx, have covered them up a bit. Saw a video where somebody just pushed them in lightly and it seemed to work just as well.
  10. Hey guys, figured now would be a good time to start this thread. Have just germinated 3 OG Kush (Dinafem), 2 for myself, 1 for a buddy (babysitting). Some details about grow: Indoors, in a 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.8 (H) DIY room I put together. 40mm fan to move the air around inside, 2 x 300m2 inline fans, 1 intake, 1 exhaust. Will initially use a smaller chamber to veg ( 2 x 105w 6500k CFL's) before moving into the main chamber to finish vegging or kick into flowering. Not the biggest veg chamber though, made in the event I have different stages on the go. Have also got a small seedling box just incase I need additional light. Wont be using this. (2 x 48w 6500k CFL's) 1 x 600w Dual Spectrum HID bulb and magnetic ballast. Nutes: Biobizz fish mix (grow) and Biobizz Bloom. Medium: Cocopeat/Perlite (promix from the groshop) Have just put the sprouts into their rockwool cubes, which I have never used before. Have also added just less than 1 ml of Kelpak to about 1lt of water to assist with the rooting. Apologies, picture size is massive for some reason. And yes, still planning on a bit of a clean up of the rooms
  11. I'm still having issues with moving the cursor out of the quote box. Sometimes the down arrow key works sometimes the right arrow key works but never consistent. What browser do you use SSA? Same issue on my end, using Chrome. Edge & Explorer I prefer using Tor browser on my pc and Orbot for Android from a paranoid point of view Both working fine (Tor browser can't reply to private messages though) lol, Tor browser... what are you up to?
  12. yeah looks a bit cal/maggy.. are you mixing your own coco/perlite?

Ive been tempted to try my wifes hair straightener, it seems many people do this. Following topic though, interested myself.

  15. No need for popcorn. In the mean time, I have ordered a selective thicker skin, it seems it is required, and slightly smaller shoes to hopefully avoid stepping on toes. Im starting a new grow, would like to make a thread about this with updates and progress, hoping to learn from this forum.
  16. Strange, can find mostly good reviews about Dinafem. Regardless they are making a push to get genetics here, nobody else is. Other seed banks will be coming along soon. I will support them. I am supporting the local company, and hopefully this local company can start offering varieties. The Pebbles OG is from a private guy, if you want facebook details let me know and I provide. For now, I have spent months trying to find seeds locally, and have found nothing, and very little assistance or advice on how to go about it safely. Only silly comments like yours unfortunately. Cannabisseeds is hopefully going to change this. Regarding the absolute BHO, this was my first attempt and as far as I can tell, its extremely clean, going on the smoke. I used pure Ethanol, how else should it be done? Care to offer any advice with your words of wisdom or just looking to try make somebody else look stupid? I cannot obtain a vacuum purge chamber, too expensive right now. So ethanol wash is my only option to refine the BHO. again any tips? Thanks for being so helpful. The only company you say? Or the only company with the right connections... Don't make the mistake of thinking these people are doing the local market any good. They aren't. Besides, why you would want to buy seeds locally is beyond me. You are happily getting stuff out of a rec state but still want to buy dinosaur genetics. "Extremely clean" is not an accurate analysis of an extract, especially when your lungs are the chromatography machines. "Pure" Ethanol? The kind you dry before using? Washing BHO in Ethanol is ridiculous, and to remove fats freezing and "filtering" is not quite right. Don't get so pissy ian, it is like the Amish getting pissed off that Steve Jobs doesn't like their tin can and string. I really do appreciate input and advice, but howcome your attitude is akin to attacking me? Was my initial introduction a bit heavy? I love this topic, I love this plant, I have been growing for 3 years and smoking for 16. I want to be apart of a growing local community, to receive advice, and hopefully to offer it. I believe wholeheartedly in the medical benefits of it, and so do the people I help. I am still learning and in no way an expert.. I have done one BHO to ethanol extract, and based on everything I have read online, and assistance from others, thought I had the right technique. I would love to ultimately get the stuff I make tested, but can now only go on the feel. That said, I generally dont like using chemicals so its not something Ill do often, but I would like some nice dab every now and then, and how I do this is something Im still trying to learn. Are you open to giving me some alternative advice here or are you saying dont dab at all? Im actually not sure what you are trying to tell me? Ill try not be pissy if you could try be a little more approachable in your own comments/responses? Maybe offer some alternative advice rather than just stating what I am saying is stupid? I dont see how this can help me or anyone on this forum. Are you just trying to point out opinionated errors in my statements without actually offering anything in return? Maybe I havent been here long enough to get used to your type of responses? As for the seeds in the states, I am very concerned they dont actually pitch up, it also costs a bit to get them over, again with no guarantee it gets past Cape Mail. So yes, supporting local is what I am going to try to do.
  17. 100% I received my order this morning. Have been in comms with the owner and have been begging for early seeds to get my next grow going. Funny enough, the company I work for develops software for courier companies, and this courier is using our software. So I can vouch for the legitimacy. they are trying to tie in with other seed banks, but kicked off with Dinafem who have been very keen to get involved here. They are apparently making sure stock arrives timely, so we dont end up waiting weeks. I havent grown anything from Dinafem yet, but heard positive things, will report back when I have more info Other than that, they do have a FB group as well to contact them..
  18. If small enough, you could try reposition it with with tweezers, or grab a rockwool cube or a rapid rooter, gently remove seedling with tweezers and place in the cube, with root in correct position. Place cube back into coco and continue. It may angle down on its own but yeah, havent actually had this happen to me, yet.
  19. www.cannabisseeds.co.za has a soft launch on Tuesday next week. All seeds in original packaging, next day delivery.
  20. My first indoor grow was hectic. Im sure i stunted 3 of the 4 plants by over watering in the beginning. My one plant ended up with a mutation. heat issues, humidity issues, even some spider mites (fk knows how) Its a learning curve for sure, one you have to go through I guess.
  21. Can get ethanol from a chemical supplier, about R550 for 25lts. I wouldnt make medicine with it though, and would only use it to purge the butane from a BHO extract. Have to make sure to burn it all off. Iso/Eth/everclear are polar/non-polar solvents so you are extracting chlorophyll and other compounds as well as the THC/CBD compounds. Hence it looking black. RSO can be made with water, or coconut oil mixed with a high concentrated extract (bubble hash).. one in the same.
  22. Just picked some of this stuff up, was told it could work as a root booster by adding a very small amount to the water you dip the rockwool cubes into.
  23. Put them in the shade, or maybe a lit room or something until they have a node or two. gives the plants a bit of a relaxed start.. ive ruined a few seeds in the CPT sun, by not doing this. actually still learning.. this is my trickiest part of the grow
  24. LST (low stress training) I love this route, prevents needing a net or screen to scrogg, instead you can get a similar effect with this. Topping the plant a few times helps, then start tying down the branches.
  25. These pots are fine, depending on the end size of your plant, and I think you said you need something a little more mid sized, because of neighbours? I personally use these, however would top them up with more coco-perlite. You get very nicely sized plants from these, any bigger is a mission to care for
