  1. Welcome to the diary of my 3rd grow (technically)!

After a great 1st harvest I popped some Auto seeds by a local breeder. It failed terribly. Think I'll be sticking to photo's for now haha ๐Ÿ˜‚

A great friend and fellow member of the forum felt sorry for me having seen this, convinced me to let them go and gifted me 4 plants he had in Veg. 3 of which were cuts from my last grow. (Thanks buddy! @CreX)

So in this diary we have 4 plants, 3 clones of pheno #3 from my last grow (Deluxe Sugarcane) and a Bananium, all from In-House genetics. Super excited for the fruits of this one!

As you can see below, all 3 plants were at different stages of life and so required a bit of a change in the way I grew these.

    (Sorry for the bad picture)

I went out and got a SCROG net, this seemed to be the only way to end with them all "Somewhat" level. I'd just keep tucking the larger 1 until the smaller 3 were able to catch up.

The Bananium was not stretching as quick as id like, thats the most-left plant, raised it with a plastic bowl I had in the kitchen and flippped shortly after.

They were left in Veg for a month, weren't exactly the happiest plants when received, so was happy to see it all sort itself out once put in bigger pots and given some food.

I'm still going with BioBizz nutrients, in Veg I switched between Bio-Grow and Fish Mix and used both alongside Bio-Heaven. Sticking with 50% strength for this grow, and have been watering at a PH of about 6.3-6.6.

Having a slight pest issue this time around, I believe they're fungus gnats, opinions on them seem to vary but I'm managing with them it seems. Trying different ways to get rid of them without the use of pesticides as I have just entered the 3rd week of flower.

Here's how they're looking now, will try update once a week from here.

My 2nd net looks super sloppy, it's too big and doesn't make for good pictures, but here it is.

  2. Welcome! You are definitely at the right place, you can get help from seed to harvest through the wisdom of others here.

I currently only have 1 outdoor Ak47 growing.

Get a grow diary up and running so we can see how it's going! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  3. Looks about right in terms of all you will need. More light is always better, but unfortunately it is the most expensive piece of the puzzle. In a 100x100cm tent I think a single 100w light with 3 plants may not give the best results but it will work. Avoid cheap lights like the blurple stuff and cheapies on Takealot.

Look at the 2nd hand market for lights, I see lots of people selling full setups for quite cheap, could find something better for the price I rate. I'm not sure about either of the nutes you have listed there, but I'm sure someone else can give you a thumbs up or down there.

What Medium/Soil do you plan to use? Good soil is a must.

  4. These babies are all cured up with 1 of 3 entirely smoked ๐Ÿ˜‚.

I wanted to thank all who took their time to share their wisdom with me on this grow. Without you guys I would definitely not have made it to harvest! The plants came out beautifully, in my opinion, with really great terps and flavour. Going from smoking outdoor and greenhouse for the last 10 years to smoking straight indoor for the last 3 months has been something to get used to, the high is quite intense if not careful haha ๐Ÿคฃย

I tried growing some Auto's after this, terrible failure. Chopped those down in Feb and was gifted 4 plants already in veg. They've just recently been flipped, will start up another diary, so watch out for that ๐Ÿ˜

Thought I'd drop some of the final pics from chop day and a picture of some of the end product.

  5. I'm finding it interesting how many outdoor grows get PM. Considering airflow is a blaming factor when getting PM indoors. What better airflow than fresh air and wind outside??ย

    How does 1 prevent this?

  6. Hey! Welcome to the Forum. Been a while since i did any typing here.

I think it was @Martin7318ย who recently got to try some fabric pots and was previously using those air pots.

This is correct. My current grow I'm using air pots and was gifted a fabric pot to try out so I've got a plant in there too. Watering is my only issue with air pots. Fabric pots seemingly have the same benefits to airpots only watering is a hell of a lot less messy when you accidentally add an extra degree to your angle of watering ๐Ÿ˜‚. I'll beย swapping out my 3 airpots with fabric pots after this grow for sure.

There's Hydroworks in Cape Town selling screens. I think they also sell different micron sheets to make your own.ย

That's great! And very reasonably priced!

    Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜

  8. @Naughty.Psychonautย Ah! Thanks for the input, dude ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ. Definitely adds a few other options for me.

I came across those round baking "sieves" last night and thought it could work. It was a cheaper alternative if I'm remembering correctly.

The first option you have here, which you say you would go for, is down at 44 microns. That's super fine. Not too fine, maybe?

I found the following site for the mesh, and seems like a good option to me:

    https://www.happyfish.co.za/products/30x20cm-stainless-steel-woven-wire-filtration-grill-sheet-filter-200-mesh?_pos=1&_sid=3b889bdb6&_ss=r&variant=39881602269368

200 mesh which is about 74 micron. 300x200mm is a decent enough size I'd say?

  9. So I've been looking for something to use for my trimming coming up soon as I approach harvest. I've seen a product online called a "Trim Bin", imported product which is extremely overpriced in my opinion. I've been looking for a local alternative to no avail.

This has lead me to thinking how easy it would be to make my own if I could just find the correct mesh. I've read thatย anything from 60-120 micron would be good to catch kief and stainless steel is a good "go-to".

Why is no one selling these? Is it not worth the time and effort? What am I missing? And where the hell could 1 purchase said mesh/screen/filter?

check the trichomes with your phone, i was very jealous at the level of zoom you can do with your phone man hahaha.

do you know the day of flower they are in? you could probably take these to day 65 or 70, depending on what the trichomes say

I went and got a jewelers loupe. Can see them nicely now. There is definitely some amber popping up on the bud, not sugar leaves, bud itself. This is why I'm thinking it's chop time soon.

Today is day 54 in flower. Week 8.ย

Biobizz schedule has flush down at week 9 and harvest at week 10 (obviously I know this is merely a guideline). I will have to try taking photos with the loupe and update here.

I'm not going to lie I don't really practice flushing, depending how the season goes if it rains at the right time my plants just do their thing and fade.

I see you've overfed them a bit so that's the only reason I'm saying use just water.

There doesn't seem to be much fade going on here ๐Ÿ˜…. On 1 of the plants There have been a few leaves going yellow daily and I guessed this was because I dropped nute doses about 2 weeks ago. I thought maybe the "fade" would start during flush. Nute burn has stopped now since lowering nute doses.
