  1. All still looking promising on the reservation.

Spotted millie bug on 1 of the shade house plants. Been hand picking bugs and removing leaves with any sign of pests up till now.
Sprayed some Neudosan for the first time today.

15 plants left in the tyre garden since male culling started.

  2. why worm bin, are they males?

    Yep. Males.

Started with 118 plants in 3l & 5l pots. Over a period of about 6 weeks the stragglers became worm food.

I selected 70 for myself, donated a few (mainly to a pensioner starting to grow for his wife's medical purposes). I've set aside a few of my plants for him just in case he doesn't succeed.

Standing at 57 plants ranging from 10l - 100l at the moment.

I'm worm composting instead of using an actual worm bin.

  3. Welcome @Stinky Pete
I'm in Wellington, Boland. people call this place Hellington, few places get hotter than we get it here... I grow all year long, no aircon no inverters no batteries no generators no extra fancy shit... you just gotta be able to keep your hand on them and don't go away for more than 2 days at a time. been growing indoor for over 5 years now. it just takes a bit of flexibility and knowing what you need to do. like letting the tent stand open for an hour or two when needed. Lights aren't the issue with loadshedding, fans are, and they'll only save you from PM when the RH skyrockets during loadshedding, but if your IPM is on point then you are good as gold....
also, photoperiods are waaaaaaaaaaay more forgiving than autos, autos are really only for the guys who make little to no mistakes, otherwise you shoot yourself in the foot thinking you gona make it easier on yourself by growing autos in an difficult situation where autos themselves even in fine tuned grow room will give you problems.
whyyyyyy brother, why do that if you got a handle on organic, whyyy in the name of all that is good would you move away from organics over to synthetics? It's not 2001 anymore, "conventional" farming has got to stop, asap. we as cannabis growers / urban farmers should set the example.
do yourself a favour and provide a looksee here
F*#K SYNTHETIC FERTILIZERS, I have said this sooooo many times before, but synthetic fertilizers just shouldn't exist. and I will keep saying it for as long as it's true.

Do you perhaps live in an old farm house with nice thick walls @Naughty.Psychonaut.
I'm other side Malmesbury and indoor temps impossible to work with.

  4. Bud rot on my autos were caused by caterpillars. Had to early harvest and compost quite a few plants.
The little buggers hide where the bud branches from the stem.
That was late November early December time.

  5. Every year I think outdoor growing on the reservation will be easier.

1st year I grew where I thought it would be reasonably sheltered. Plants did not live 2 or 3 months. Climate nailed them.

2nd year I grew in our garden which is more sheltered. Pretty much the same story.

    3rd year nothing outdoors.

This season I put up wind breaks and things were looking good. Until a few days ago.

Thinking about moving above ground pots into the shade house and waiting to see what happens with buried pots and tyres.

I am watering outdoors 3 times a day.

1st pic is what the plants look like come 6pm water time.

Other pics plant in shade house 12 hours later.

  6. From my MOMENT of MADNESS popping 128 seeds into a tray of local seedling soil I was testing things are still on the up side.

118 seeds germinated and were put into 3l & 5l pots then into list below with a local potting soil I am also testing. R25/40l.
A bit of molasses here and a bit of SeaGro there and all good so far.

    Tyre Garden I have:

    5 x 80l plus soil. Photoperiods.
    12 x 20l soil. Photoperiods.

    4 x autoflower.

    Shade House:

    6 x 100l soil. Photoperiods.
    8 x 20l soil. Photoperiods.
40 x 10l soil. 10l pots are not handling well outdoors. Photoperiods.

    6 x autoflower.

I have kept 71 plants from the 118. Gave a few away and the rest became worm food.ca2d8114a9b7f13760a423341203a909.jpgc1324881448c3de4799c6ef8094ba134.jpge8804196687ddc50425a0dc187f4900d.jpg90171aed0dbd85f92c623166fb18f6a7.jpg46dd913b85158545d7b7ad4e0d008c27.jpg94127610c8e2eb4ecffdb3f6e40f3bc6.jpg6fe4c8efafa09916528aeaf0dcca8a66.jpg48607e5753e14d94b6c7d81a364f7ff6.jpgae440b4f3c3ac75b2c58a3847c507a19.jpge2106abc8e1a6f920a2abea06a292de3.jpg6d08ad08db0f7cbfd096dbe3b00c6862.jpgc0d17eda665f17fb72188f83aaaa9d37.jpg

  7. Put some SeaGro in the diet for the first time a few days back. I use this stuff round the nursery on a regular basis and the speed at which it works amazes me every time.

Two days of serious wind, hail, torrential rain and did l mention the wind.
I'm half confident the tyre garden should survive our summer winds on the reservation.

Bought the last batch of soil for photoperiods this season.
Will update on number of survivor's from the 118 seeds sprouted from seedling soil test soon.

Autoflowers I'll admit I'm not happy. Caterpillars literally took out my xmas smoke. Culled about 4 and early harvested 2 plants.
Anastasia 99 not enjoying being under 60% shade cloth. Waiting to see how next batch do outdoors now that fucking caterpillar season is over.6ad4b49147f1fb619100e42dede72ec3.jpgeed1ba08edf3dae5a870c9b408047b8e.jpgb49667e4305ccdf72055938930a95f91.jpg221310f2505af91d0e8167acdae142da.jpgd2e24b88efcc18df90ea112b598967ef.jpgbe70f0973ecd0f3dec5b6906daa2280b.jpgcaee80e2efb43ac73c0807cd7732a1e9.jpg

  8. Tyre garden taking shape.

    First 3 pics @Bay Seeds Anastasia 99 autoflower days 50ish and 60ish.
Used neudosan and am out there as often as possible hand picking caterpillars. Down to 4 or 5 critters a day now.
Two plants I chopped up and chucked in the microwave, nuked the shits then compost bin.

  9. Anastasia 99 autoflower day 77.

Photo says wait a bit longer.
    Eye says ready to chop.
Microscope says milky with some amber.

    I'm happy.
R25/40l soil and one dose of molasses is all this plant got. And water.

The other plants at this age standing just as proud but still in the shadows of the purple peas so a bit difficult to photo.

  10. @Bay Seeds Anastasia 99 autoflower.

First two pics in 60% shade house planted 13/8.

Next couple of pics planted 1/9.

    Last plant was planted 12/10.

Yeah so wide range of growth time.
All still healthy and pest free. Thought I was gonna have a grasshopper problem but they all seem to be congregating other side the wind break with the wild dagga.

Tyre garden performing way better than the shade house. Which was expected.
But our summer, boy. Let's see.
