  1. Lots going on there. How big is the screen? I can't wait to see what it all looks like in full flower. Doing a Scrog at the moment as well - but far less tidy and more wasteful with space (as I didn't have time to fill up the screen). In my case an even canopy is near impossible as I am allowing everything to grow out (including the popcorn [not recommended]. Bush. Bush. And more Bush. Anyway I am subbed.
  2. I remember litres as well - they were big sticks :). slupes were different, I think. also in brown paper but you could make more than a joint from one.... sticks were smaller and thiner - literally looked like a bundle of sticks. the sticks from martizburg were generally tucked in at both ends, and the sticks from Durban were tucked in at one end and was twisted at the other end (or at least that's the impression I got). nice 'nostalgia' thread bru!
  3. looking very cool. i have sometimes lost bud sites under the scrog so its not a bad idea to keep checking for shit that can get to the right side of the screen. how many plants are under there?
  4. Grew up in Gauteng, but smoking maritzburg slugs (sweet baby heads wrapped in brown paper) - we called them sticks. 4 to 5 sticks made a decent (although small) joint. when I was in high school in 90s it cost R10 for 20 sticks (referred to as a roll). We also smoked chilumps (sp?) which were small clay pipe like things (used to hold incense). We would also get Malawi cobs and compressed swazi from time to time. You could also buy other shit bag weed, pokes and matchboxes - but I didn't (until I started smoking buttons)
  5. Hi crowd, I am new to LED growing but I read somewhere that when switching to LED from HID its a good idea to run your temps higher (close to 30) if you want comparable results. The explanation for why you should do this made sense and has to do with the fact the spectrum of light received from HID lights means a higher leaf surface temperature then when using LEDs. Anyone have any practical experience with this? Other LED growers, what temperatures are you running? check out the link below https://www.blackdogled.com/lst
  6. smoke more or less the same amount - but weirdly these days I find growing less fun. All the same, now that my girls are in flower I am as paranoid as ever.
  7. And this is what's happening outside (my first ever outdoor attempt). Sorbet from the plug seed bank. It is sitting in a layer of coco-perlite mix (with dolomite lime, bone meal, rock phosphate, talborne organics fruit and flower, worm castings and other stuff) but its no doubt already grown into the soil below. I am a bit worried about bud rot come flower given that I won't really be cleaning under the skirt and the plant is also really close to the wall. but lets see. Hopefully we get back to dry Job weather by then.
  8. A little more about this grow... I started sometime in November. I have been away from my gear for more than a year, so this is my first grow in a long time. And as grows go, I have been a bit lazy… so the girls have paid the price (also no lolipoping, no LST and minimal topping). It is also my first LED grow and I an trying out one of the Fluence Vyprx lights (although I started flowering the Chemawg and OG Kush plants under a 600w HPS) I went organic for the Chemdawg and OG Kush plants (something I haven't done since my first every grow). Decided to try out the freedom farms mix - supplemented with Biobizz stuff (fish mix in veg, and grow, bloom and top max for flowering). Also giving explogrow - but just ran out. I used 10L bags thinking i would veg for only 2 weeks, but I took my time setting up another tent to start them flowering - so they got another week (1 of the OG Kush plants ran into problems so it got a couple more weeks on top of that) . This means they are a bit too big for the bags -- more labour and problems (and in my efforts to correct them, I have probably overfed biobizz grow). They got flipped around the 23 of November (so they should be done by the end of the month) (plants at the ned are chemdawg) (These are the OG Kush) The blue cheese are in autopots. I ran into a problems with the system (and had what looked like overwatered plants). It resolved but I am still puzzled by it (and yes, i do have a layer of clay pebbles at the bottom). They are also under a low scrog screen (1,5m x 0,75m more or less). As I need to get everything chopped, dried and in jars by March I flipped these just under two weeks ago (and shoved some clones in an organic mix in the corners). I will probably need to even things out a little more (tucking and underdoing tucking), before leaving them to finish out now. I started out using Nutriplex, but switched to GH stuff when they went into flower. Not supplementing with anything except calmg apart from bit foliar feeding of fulvic acid when I wasn’t feeling lazy. (Blue Cheese Scrog) Although not ideal, when I chop the organic plants the light can be moved closer to the girls under the screen.
  9. In 2020 I would like to undertake (or at least begin) a writing project about weed, and maybe even about my relationship to weed (one nurtured over more than 2 decades). I have no idea what will come out of it yet, but I thought a good place to start would be with a Glog - a way of learning about the fine art of growing weed and also to collect details, thoughts and bits of research for ‘my writing project’. Skipping introductions (and going strait to what counts), here is a peak at my girls in flower... Strains growing: HSO Chemdawg (organic) HSO OG Kush (organic) Barney’s Blue Cheese (Autopot scrog) More to follow…
