  1. If you are up to it, give Ghost Train Haze by Rare Dankness a try.
    Very heavy sativa.
Up to it I.t.o growing difficulty or mega highness?
I've seen a Train Wreck strain being touted as pretty awesome, must be a distant cousin I imagine... if I remember right a friend had me some when I last visited him in the Cape. Was lekker!

  2. Have to add to this list...

    St Clements Nursery
    Musgrave
    https://stclements-nursery.business.site/

    Stock:
    Basic pots
Their own soil (apparently very popular with locals)
One or two other surprises... PM for deets dudes

Got a 5l of their soil and 6 x 10cm smalls pots to grow out my pilot "bag" seed demo grow. Seems light and fluffy. Will post pics. Has bark (orchid) which I wasnt that keen on but was convinced to try...
All in all cost was R75.

They also apparently mix their own nutes which are available. Price seemed reasonable... may give it a run on the bag seed grow and see how it does

Highly recommend a pit stop if nearby.

  3. They advertise edibles on their Facebook page, did you see any in store @StonerZN? Would be awesome if they started selling clones.
Will probably stop by them today, need some soil for transplants this weekend.
@StonerZN did you grab the free seeds?

They had some biscuits. Grabbed 2 to try. Felt a little bit of a tingle. Needed more sugar.

If you going today definitely message them first.
They had Atami mediums in store but all the FF stuff kept offsite...

Free seeds available only if buying grow supplies, not edibles... will get mine next time! Gotta move house first, not moving with bags of full soil

  4. I did tune them you sent me as well dude

They mentioned beginning work/planning to work with a company called Holy Smokes.

Didnt mention clones at all though.

The free seeds are apparently from said seed company.

Checked them out some seem really nice! Want the Banana Sativa in me now!

They did have a display version of the Atami Wilma system up which was nice to see. Is still under consideration for one day maybe best buy my lotto ticket

Store was tricky to find I must say. Maps tried to take me into the complex behind them, and due to being quite small I drove right past it.

  5. Hi dudes.

I generally prefer day time smokes that give me some energy, make me chattier and dont make me sleepy.

I dont dig smoke that gives me super dry mouth or red eyes.

I am constantly in search of weed that will induce the giggles I got more often when I was younger, and more recently only with Very strong edibles.

The kind of weed that you find yourself having cleaned the whole house, washed the car and bathed the dog before thinking... I was just having a cup of coffee on the couch, how did this happen??

Any favourites among fellow forumites that may meet these criteria?

  6. Was in the area so popped into both shops to kick some tyres and check things out.

Both friendly sets of people, had lots of advice to offer!
Cannamart definitely newer and smaller. Didnt have a lot on display per se, quite a bit of stuff seems to be stored off site. Not a biggy, provided you are prepared to preorder before arriving - you may be disappointed if you simply pop in. I think this is for safety reasons mostly, is a smallish shop... will definitely support them in future though.

GroHydro was quite the opposite seemed like a warehouse by comparison. Had everything I've read about available on shelf and I really enjoyed peaking at all the bits and pieces that are on display in their tents.
Very much felt like a kid in a candy store lol.

2 good experiences and 2 definite sources for all I need for a while!

Thanks again for the recommendations chaps.
Will keep my eyes open for more shopping options in KZN and update as I discover more.

  7. Hey bud, nice shopping list. Companion plants are good but choose wisely.
Coriander is a good companion plant to help with the NPK ( can't remember which one now) in soil. Problem is depending on the companion plants root system it may just end up fighting for space with the marijuana plants. So if it is just bugs you worried about plant up in separate pot and place close to your mother herb.
I'm busy with a permaculture grow area, gonna take 3-5 years, using sunflowers as a sacrificial plant (attracts bugs and helps condition the soil), dandelions for mole barriers and soil conditioning, various herbs (believe it or not but certain herbs help with bud development) .
Then I use cinnamon powder mixed in my soil which helps control pest eggs, gnats, ant nests and the likes.

I never would have guessed. Quick Google search shows cinnamon seems to have many beneficial properties.
Can even seemingly be used as a rooting hormone! Shot bru.
Will plant the coriander nearby maybe any other plants that may chase bugs away that may be useful to have around?

I must say, the FF pots are not bad but there are nicer pots out there. I quite like the Plant Matter pots and @Ill_Evan has some pots which are really awesome as well and priced decently. May be worth speaking to him about some fabric pots. Cannot remember the name of the pots.

Had a look through @Ill_Evan's current diary, seem to be the FF pots in his pics, maybe it was someone else with the alternative...

Not fussy about the brand provided they do the job and I can get them locally to save on bloody courier fees. Those add up quick! Will search for Plant Matter pots to check them out shot.

As for a Telegram chat, I am concerned that people may start talking about their grows in the chat instead of sharing the info on the forum for the other forum members. In terms of communication if there is an issue, whether it is on Telegram, the forum via your mobile browser or Tapatalk it's all much of a muchness really.

I may be new around here, and it may not be my place to say this, but I have some experience with other forums in the past. Most of them do not exist anymore as a result of the advent of Wattsapp groups and telegram type arrangements.

I would strongly discourage the use of anything other than the forum for communication purposes.

With regards the rest of the points:

Definitely charge a fee to discourage okes who are just in it for the freebie seeds! Not fair on the breeders.

Post count and a completed grow seem good entry criteria.

As a newb, a dedicated category for newbs would be lekker, if there happens to be a small prize even better, but the experience gained will be reward enough for most!

Looking forward to watching this develop and hopefully take part one day!

  10. Nice man. What are you doing for pest control?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Burying my head in the sand and hoping for the best tbh I'm not sure. Have seen so many different bugs and pest types on here I don't know that I can prepare for them all in advance.
Will wait until they inevitably raise their ugly heads and deal with it as it happens.
Will put a hundred bucks or 2 in an emergency bug killing envelope in case they strike mid-month

  11. Look for fish mix, if you want to use just one of both. Then get a bottle of melasses too from your grow shop and mix your own Grow... 750ml fish mix and 250ml melasses... and you have Biobizz Grow. Stick to the light mix table, not the FF table... that one demands to use bio heaven or you run into troubles.
I can send you a beefed up feeding table for your 10 weeks sour diesel, put those out second week Nov. Use the 12 week table, standard, on the ww3, beginning Nov (easy week calculation, 1. Nov).
I use 10 liter pots for autos, i let the 10 week bubbles go into week 15, very late harvest. Autos dont go as root crazy... also means they handle less good wind. I am always amazed how small the root work is when you empty the pots.
Pulled one out gentle... that is a 10 liter pot

Such a treasure trove of information that reply!
    Dates to plant - check
Location of pots - little wind shelter needed
Feeding charts - yes please sir!

As for the pot size I am now in 2 minds.
PsyClowns idea of using bigger pots and repurposing them after this appeals to the cheap skate in me.

However if these go well I could see myself doing another run with autos in future. Maybe smaller ones dedicated to this purpose would be better than trying to use a bigger pot than is needed here.

My other concern is watering... with a smaller pot I may have to be more disciplined at checking them everyday? Bigger pot may hold a bit more water and give me a bigger buffer against neglect/problems?

  12. Welcome fellow Durbanite!
I struggled to find DP seeds when shopping. Most places out of stock. There was something romantic about growing a local strain. Then I read about an aniseed flavour and got less keen
    Good luck with the grow

  13. I'm starting to get a clearer idea of what I need to start my grow, but some uncertainty lingers.

I want to use the best ingredients I can, but have the barest bones approach to keep it affordable.

Going to start accumulating all the bits and pieces I need over the next month to be ready to plant early/mid November as advised by Prom earlier.

    Seeds:

Chose to fork out a bit to hopefully get some great plants:

3x President Seeds World War 3 Fem Auto

Genetic Makeup: Trumps Cookie Jar x Gorilla Kim
    Indica: 60%
    Sativa: 40%
    Outdoor: Yes
    Indoor: Yes
    Seed to Harvest: 11 Weeks
    Height: +-1m
    Yield: Extra Large
    THC Content: High
    Effect: Chilled and Relaxed
    Flavour: Fruity and Earthy

3x Fast Buds Original Sour Diesel Fem Auto

    Room:Indoor / Outdoor
    Gender Feminized
    Genes Mostly Sativa
    Genetics Sour Diesel Autoflowering
    Flowering 9-10 weeks
    Harvest 450-550gr/m2
    Height 90-120
    THC Up to 21%
    CBD Very Low
    Autoflowering Yes

These both sound sooo nice. Can't wait for them to arrive.

    Soil:  FF Premium

    Nutes: BioBizz range

Grow or Fishmix ( either or both - depending whats at the store when I get there)

    Bloom

Topmax (optional extra, may replace with cheaper alternative if I can find)

    Pots

Planning on going with the FF fabric bags. Not sure which sizes.

Both plants can reach 1m. I have read here a few times that I shouldn't go too big on the sizes for autos?

Do I need vermiculite or something as a substrate/drainage/base layer at the bottom of the pot?

I ordered some companion Coriander crop cover with the seeds to help the top layer... Is this a good idea? was only R40

    Germination tools

I am planning on using carlton towel and plates to germinate on my modem. Test run with bag seed underway.

If I am correct, best practice seems to be to go straight into the above pots when the seeds pop?

This means I have nothing else here on my list?

Anything cheap to treat seeds with to help root growth on offer? necessary?

Anything else useful to have on hand? Have I forgotten anything?

  14. Legend Ultimate Noob. A quick glance at their site seems to show them having all I need more or less. Doesn't matter to me where I get it from if the prices are right (they seem fair at first glance) so will gladly visit and mention you.

Will be in a week or 3 as I finalise my shopping list.

    Thanks for the recommendation!

  15. My bad. stuffed that name up properly 😞 Definitely the same.

Grovida's website doesn't seem to show either the Biobizz or FF ranges though 😞

Seems like somewhat slim pickings for us.

I was under the impression there was one in Hillcrest/Kloof/Waterfall but now can't seem to find it. That would have been a little closer!

  16. I have found a few online (no idea if they are any good or if there are better/cheaper)

Coco or hydro without a proper pH pen is not a good idea at all. EC pen you can get away without one, they are cheap though and you do not need a fancy EC pen.

Do not skimp on a PH pen.

So with that being said, soil might make a bit more sense. I'd then go with the premium soil.

When you are growing indoors, give coco a try (once you have a proper PH pen, something like the HM Digital PH pen).

Definitely the plan long term. For now cheap is more important.

Thinking going Premium for now will buy me time to save for pens and such

  18. Shew. I have flip flopped in my mind so much about this topic...

Decision time is upon me though, seeds are ordered and will soon be on the way!

Because LED lights (where I want to be eventually) are so expensive I've decided to start a run outdoors to try get myself some homegrown sooner and cheaper.

I have ordered some really really nice (and pretty pricy) Auto Flowers from B&B in an effort to hopefully further speed up the process.

    So... Outdoors and Auto's...

I'm leaning towards one of the Freedom Farms bags... Still unsure which of their Coco-perlite/ Premium /Formula 1 to go with though.

Not gonna have an EC or PH pen for a few more months if this impacts the advice you all may be willing to give on the matter.

    Thinking BioBizz for nutes.

Thanks again for all the advice I have received so far and in advance for what is yet to come 😁
