  1. Unfortunately you can't press hemp seeds in a rosin press for oil. On the bright side it can be bought easily .

There 3 main oils I use to to create cbd oils . One is coconut mct oil , this is the most common oil used as a carrier agent. Unfortunately it could cause issues with people with a nut allergy , my wife has a slight nut allergy and prolonged use causes severe stomach cramps.

Hemp seed oil is used as another carrier agent and works incredibly well and my preferred carrier

Final one I use is black seed oil as its got great health benefits and I use it in tropicals a lot but is the most expensive.

  2. Btw I have had no hermie issues with your genetics so far outdoors . I have selected clones for an indoor run and that's where I would expect the hermie trait to show if there any. I push my indoor hard with Co2 and following the VPD scale

That is really odd. Hermie I could grasp but 4 males from a single what should be a fem seed:poke

Yip and that's why I love this plant so much , no matter what you do mother nature likes to throw you curve balls . We can guide nature but never control her

  4. Time for my first proper tester ..... I had a bit before but wasn't cured properly or properly dry , this will be my first proper test . Samples will be sent in next week for lab testing and once I get those back I will post the report

Ps . This was cultivated  outdoors in winter with certain goals in mind. This bud couldn't cost more than R3 a g to produce from seed to bag including seed cost

  5. I did check , there where 4 seedings and 2 roots systems . They strange part was that even though they where feminized seeds all 4 turned out to me male . I also only found 1 seed casing so I am 99.9% sure I didn't have a stoner moment and plant 2 in the same puck 🤣

Thnx for that info. I'm going to try a low temp press for a longer period.. I've never gone below 90 as I thought it would not work..😬

All strains will have different temps , thats why you should run a small batch to test .

    As a guide

0sec -60sec low pressure so the bag is flat but not to pressed. This allows the biomass time to reach temperature evenly

60sec-90sec at 60 seconds you will increase the pressure slightly

90sec-120sec you will apply half pressure

120-150sec you will slightly increase pressure

150-180 you will increase again to just under max pressure

180-300 you want to max out the pressure .  You will notice the colour start to charge around 250 seconds but could go to 300 seconds , that would be your prime product . For prime product never let it sit for more than 5min in the press above 80 degrees

Once you have extracted the prime you can then do a second press repeating the process to get your b grade and anything extra

Ps - use a stopwatch if you want to consistently produce quality

  7. I never press over 85 degrees and low temp press around 50-70 degrees for 4 minutes . I normally run a test on unknown biomass of 5g starting at 50 degrees . I will then increase temps by 5 degrees until it just starts running . Once I know its running point I will run a larger batch . I also don't go max pressure from the start , i have set times to increase pressure . I do also have a 20 ton press with large plates .

That's awesome.. I found the more product I try to press the less yield I get.. So I go max 4g at a time.. For me the sweet spot is 100°C for 120s.. So low heat press would be for a far longer press I presume?

@Green Leaf Organics some beautiful buds there man.

Just a quick question. As an experienced grower and growing on scale do you prefer wet trim or dry trim and do you have specific drying and curing preferences?

Very cool to have someone with the vast experience like you have on the forum.

Always dry trim - ideally drying at 58% humidity at 10-12 degrees over 21 days in the dark

  10. I freeze dry it straight off the tree , I don't dry it completely . I have a bud moisture tester so I dry it to 16% moisture content which is perfect for pressing . THC oxidizes over time so by freeze drying and pressing within 24 hours you get live rosin which is some of the nicest tasting terpene rich rosin with amazing colour .

Yea i run bubble hash first when pressing trim as just pressing trim alone gives very poor yields so I always advise a bubble wash on trim before pressing

This pic is the bud I got the pink rosin from

  11. Many moons ago I use to do testing for many international breeders and out of hundreds of seeds this one was one of my top 10 strains . While the thc count isn't huge the total canabanoid count makes an amazing smoke with a huge terpene profile . This strain has amazing calming effects while keeping you alert and focused , great for anxiety and getting through those tough days
