When I'm smoking joints, I'm a silver Rizla kind of guy. I find that RAW and similar types add too much flavour and I prefer a more muted rolling paper.

I wash my buds in a 0.1% h2o2 bath for 20 seconds and then hang to dry if they have had any bud rot or powdery mildew. It does remove some of the more soluble terpenes but its worth it IMO. I prefer my bud clean and unwashed but you got to make the best of a bad situation sometimes.

The biggest reason you will see the stems go hard is through lack of root space and nutrients. The stems going purple and woody is from the plant absorbing nutrients from the stem to use further up in the plant for new growth. The nutrient that has the biggest affect is phosphorous and then second nitrogen. A stem that has gone woody will not go back to being supple ever again. You will have to monitor stems further up the plant that are still supple to see if they go purple and woody then your condition is worsening. 

It's also important that I mention that some plants can get purple stems or purple striped stems without going woody and this is more of a genetic predisposition to accumulation of anthocyanin and not a nutrient absorption problem. In your pics above it looks like the former above mentioned explanation. 

Ah nice, does the smell go towards mango / guava direction after a longer cure ? The citrus ones have a kick ass high usually.

The question should not be who are good breeders, but what environment do you have for growing and what genetics would best fit that environment AND suit your palate for quality of high effect and other requirements. Breeding is often a trade off. If you are growing outdoors its likely that you will not be able to run most indoor varieties because of powdery mildew, bud rot or some other problem like pests. If you have a perfectly controlled indoor environment then by all means go and buy from some good breeders to suit your tastes. Don't stagnate with buying one breeders stuff - you want to explore and educate yourself. 

Personally I don't run many modern hype weed. Very occasionally I will run something that is currently available to buy. But I'm a sativa lover and I don't like indica to get mixed in too often. Most of my seed stash I made myself or was gifted by friends. There are some breeder packs in there from places like Doc D, Cannabiogen, Ace Seeds but I'm not really growing those anymore. Last bunch of seeds I popped was all different landraces crossed to a Tom hill original haze male. Tried Senegal, Zambian copper, Malawi Gold, Mulanje Malawi, Punto Rojo, Ko Chang Thai, Hmong hill tribe Thai, Durban poison 70s, Zamal, golden tiger, flying dutchmen original haze. 

Just got to make friends with the right people and search the right stuff that you like and it will come eventually

I met with Simon last year and he has been helping the villages there by Umzimvubu for a couple of years now and he is well known there. I even attended a meeting with the residing chief of all the villages and some local government figures to discuss the implications of new legislation and how it could be best crafted to cover rural ancestral cannabis. There were a few sangomas there too and they brought weed with them but it was all hybrids, no pure landrace to try at that meetup. Its a pity that Simon doesn't talk more online - he says he has a tablet with a cracked screen that he looks at every few days as and when he needs to
