  1. Here in South Africa every single part of the plant is illegal.

Grows are quite well protected and I think it's unlikely that you would come across any commercial grows without some connections and speaking a native African language. At the moment Nguni seeds is one of the few seedbanks working with more native African Strains.

  2. Sorry to hear bud! Seems to be going around.

Well, maybe you could find a product that's easy to produce at home, has fair value, and in high demand. I'll keep my ear to the ground, and let you know if I come across such a product. I'm sure there must be something.😉

Haha, nah I think I'll go towards web design.

  3. Hello everyone,

I have some good news and some bad news today.

The good news is these little ones look good on Day 10.

The bad news however is that I am soon to be unemployed. Got my notice today, "down scaling".

No bad feelings there, I just need to come up with a new source of income.

  4. Day 9

These little ones seem to be doing great.

Switched the lighting to 12/12 just to sex them asap. Once I know the sexes, I can clone some off a female and veg them up while flowering the seed females.

  5. Greetings everyone

I've started up my first grow in quite a while. I am busy using 2 unknown beans, the label seems to have vanished, they could be the last beans left from my seed collection. Not sure myself, I'll have to wait and see what they look like.

I germed the seeds in rockwool. Then I decided to go for coco & perlite instead, so I just transplanted them into some 1l pots.

I am running 2 x 20w Daylight CFL's I had lying around. I am hoping I have 5min free this week at work to pay for a 250w HPS, they should flourish under those conditions.

I'm running GHE Nutes but have yet to start feeding them.

Today we are on Day 8, I am going to check on them in the next hour or so.

  6. A HPS is looking like a plan at the moment.

Contacted a mate of mine last night and he's said he can sort me out a 250w setup for around R600 which is brilliant.

He's also got some spare genetics from BC Depot so we should have a killer grow on the way.

My plan is to have this setup runnning constantly. With winter I doubt I'll have to many worries with heat. I can always make a cooled hood and take it from there.

Now just to get my damn growbox in order and get all my hydro stuff.

  7. Did some searching on the web, I can sort out a 250w setup from hydroponic.co.zam, but it would cost around 2k.

I am on quite the budget and I have gained a slightly larger grow box.

I plan on getting all my hydro equipment from Hydroponic considering they are here in Durbanville. Lights I will try to get at Eagle lighting tomorrow.

  8. Greetings fellow horticultural enthusiasts

Tomorrow I will finally be moving to a house that allows for a grow setup.

It has been far too long since I've been enjoying my own harvest.

Here's what I've got so far:

    - 1 x (450mm x 450mm x 900mm) grow box

    - Far too many ideas.

Here's what I still need before anything can happen:

    - 2 or 3 120 mm PC Fans

    - A total of at least 200w in 2700k CFL's

    - All the wiring and electronics.

My goal is simple. I medicate on about 1g a day, some days far less while other days a lot more (we all have those mates who never bring bud to a meet). I need around 90g per 12-week cycle, this setup will be perpetual, I am working on a dedicated Veg box too, but that will fall in place at a later stage.

I am seriously considering either DWC or Hempy as a means of growing, Hempy seems like the cheapest hydro route. I have yet to decide on nutes, either ECG or Nutriplex.

This whole grow is on quite the budget too, I need to be as cost efficennt as I can be.

Here's a CAD rendering of what my finished product should look like, without the lights that is.

    72vyhCCm.jpg

Things I still need to figure out:

    • Lighting configuration, I am really getting tired of looking for high wattage CFL's in 2700k, not a single retail store I have been to this weekend had any. I am considering buying 10 x 23w Warm White CFL's or I could order a single 200W online. I am a bit reluctant to order any parts online.
    • Which strains I want to grow, I had to chuck my seed collection a year or so ago. It is time for me to buy some again, I'm thinking of some sativa dominant hybrids and maybe a few solid old-school indicas.
    • What I will do for odor control.

  9. Howdy folks

Here's something I've been toying with.

I've just made a few rough sketches but will create something in a CAD to get the finer details sorted.

Let me know what you guys think.

  10. http://marijuanaworldnews.com/two-house-bills-would-end-federal-prohibition-of-marijuana/

Two congressmen filed separate House bills on Friday that together would legalize, regulate and tax marijuana at the federal level, effectively ending the U.S. government’s decades long prohibition of the plant.

Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) introduced the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act, which would remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act’s schedules, transfer oversight of the substance from the Drug Enforcement Administration over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and regulate marijuana in a way similar to how alcohol is currently regulated in the U.S.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) introduced the Marijuana Tax Revenue Act, which would set up a federal excise tax for regulated marijuana.

The bills would not force states to legalize marijuana, but a federal regulatory framework would be in place for those states that do decide to legalize it. To date, four states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana (however, D.C.’s model continues to ban sales), 23 states have legalized marijuana for medical purposes and 11 other states have legalized the limited use of low-THC forms of marijuana for medical use.

“While President Obama and the Justice Department have allowed the will of voters in states like Colorado and 22 other jurisdictions to move forward, small business owners, medical marijuana patients, and others who follow state laws still live with the fear that a new administration — or this one — could reverse course and turn them into criminals,” Polis said in a statement Friday. “It is time for us to replace the failed prohibition with a regulatory system that works and let states and municipalities decide for themselves if they want, or don’t want, to have legal marijuana within their borders.”

Despite the programs currently in place in Colorado and Washington state — as well as those that will soon go into effect in Oregon, Alaska and D.C. — the sale, possession, production and distribution of marijuana all remain illegal under federal law. The states that have legalized marijuana or softened penalties for possession have only been able to do so because of federal guidance urging prosecutors to refrain from targeting state-legal marijuana operations.

With marijuana legalization supported by a majority of Americans, and a new wave of states considering loosening their marijuana laws over the next several years, it seems unlikely that the federal government would push back against the popular movement. But it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Harvard economist Jeff Miron, a vocal supporter of marijuana policy reform, highlighted the precarious nature of state marijuana laws in a recent op-ed for CNN on why Congress needs to act now on federal marijuana policy.

“Despite the compelling case for legalization, and progress toward legalization at the state level, ultimate success is not assured,” Miron wrote. “Federal law still prohibits marijuana, and existing jurisprudence (Gonzales v. Raich 2005) holds that federal law trumps state law when it comes to marijuana prohibition. So far, the federal government has mostly taken a hands-off approach to state medicalizations and legalizations, but in January 2017, the country will have a new president. That person could order the attorney general to enforce federal prohibition regardless of state law.”

On Friday, Blumenauer called the federal prohibition of marijuana “a failure” that has wasted tax dollars and ruined lives. He also said it’s time for the government to forge a new path ahead for the plant.

“As more states move to legalize marijuana as Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Alaska have done,” Blumenauer said, “it’s imperative the federal government become a full partner in building a workable and safe framework.”
