  1. Oh Jeez who invited GarethL to the party!! I'd give you the address but I know a week before flowering finishes you'll be in my garden stuffing buds in your pockets haha!
  2. Hey guys Just curious if any of you have tried the potting soil from Makro? It's supposedly organic and at R24 for 30 liters it's very affordable. I mixed up some soil this weekend. Used 30% coco, 30% perlite and 40% of this potting soil. Dunno how it will work, going to do a test with bag seed and see how it goes.
  3. Thanks Maxwell. How do you de-chlorinate your water? By letting it stand for 24 hours? Where do you get hydrogen peroxide from and when you say a strong dose, roughly how much do you add? The calmag is to stabilise the ph? If you weren't to add that would it make too much of a difference? I don't add calmag but I alway worry it may be a problem. 420 I get mine from Super Plants, the Culterra one is R60 for a 5kg brick... the hydro shop is R66 but isn't branded.
  4. Hey all Was just curious on how others prepare their grow mediums? I do a 50/50 mix of coco and perlite Coco I expand in ph5.8 water and I then rinse off the perlite with tap water before mixing them together. Then I put the mix in potting containers to let all the excess water out and once that's done i store it in big addis containers with lids and I leave them outside. I don't add anything else. If you prepare yours differently or add anything else and have had good results could you share your knowledge:) Thanks!
  5. Bought a total of 7 seeds from GSR. 2 germinated, 1 turned out to be male and the other one never really amounted to much... Stayed small and yielded about 10 grams. Won't buy from them again. Ordered from Original Sensible and the package never arrived. No tracking so no idea what happened. Pity because their prices are good and it's a very user friendly site.
  6. Hey everyone. I'm really enjoying this site and want to do my bit to contribute to it. Currently I don't have much on the go as I am waiting on some indoor seeds but I have got a couple of plants going outside. Strains are mostly unknown as I used bagseed, My guess is probably Swazi but I do however have 2 Malberry and 1 Super Silver Skunk from Nguni. I started my seeds off Mid October, I didn't keep a specific date as I don't take the outdoor grows very seriously. These are obviously all regulars and I will probably take clones off each one to see which are girls. I may also just wait until they all start flowering and quickly remove the males. I am not using any special soil. The seeds were started in cotton pads then transferred to an organic mix I had made consisting of coco/perlite. The PH was way out as I didn't leave it to stand long enough and the seedlings turned lime/yellow and didn't grow well. 1 by 1 I started moving them across to the garden which consists of the soil thats there. Some of them bounced back and are looking ok and some are still quite small and yellow but we have a long summer ahead of us so they should all grow nicely. A huge regret I have is throwing all the coco/perlite into the garden with them when I took them out their pots. With the Cape Town wind we have bee having it's started blowing around all over the place to the point where it comes in the windows and causing a brown dust everywhere. I'll never do that again! Nutrients... I started giving them bio grow about 2 weeks back and I mix about 40% sea grow in with that as well. I've been using half strength nutes but I'm going to up it soon as they can definitely take more. Water I PH to 6.1. I put some stakes in last week to keep them upright as the wind was literally blowing them flat. I did plant them quite close together but considering half will be males I'll cut some down as I start flowering.
  7. Hey guys, AJ here from Cape Town as the name says I've had a few packages confiscated with no arrests but it's still unpleasant. My last order I had sent to a friend in the UK who has now sent it to a friend in jhb. It's still on it's way so let's see. I had good service from Nguni seeds. Package arrived fast and with no problems. Unfortunately they don't do feminized seeds which is the only negative. I'm busy germing the seeds now so will post some progress once they grow but I have a feeling they are going to be good.
  8. Hey guys, AJ here from Cape Town. Smoked my first Durban poison joint about 16 years ago in grade 8. Not a heavy smoker as I run a business and manage staff but I like to smoke a couple of evenings a week or spend a good summers day outside smoking. What I find way more entertaining is growing my own plant and therefore bypassing street hustlers selling overpriced rubbish. I grow 100% organically and I'm always trying to learn more to improve quality.my plants are like my children. Not to bash other forums but I've felt that some can be quite "clicky" and you almost get bitchy comments when you post something or comment. We are all here to share ideas and chat about stuff we have a passion for so it's nice to see most of the guys on here are chilled Looking forward to sharing my grow logs and learning more as I go. Starting off my spring special seeds from Nguni tomorrow
