Teens in dagga bust

TWO Port Elizabeth teenagers were bust in a raid on a sophisticated hydroponic dagga farm on the outskirts of the city yesterday. The “high-end” product was allegedly being cultivated and sold from a rented house on a Theescombe smallholding.

The boys – Luke Mey and Michael Finlayson, both 18 – did not appear to grasp the gravity of their situation initially, with one mugging it up for the photographer and telling him jokingly to take a picture of him with one of the dagga plants being seized.

While the estimated value of the equipment and plants seized was about R35000, police said the operation had been going for about a year.
