What you want to get is a raspberry pi zero w, it's got built in wifi which really helps. And it's a lot smaller than the full raspberry pi 3 b+.

It's also a lot cheaper, I have a few that I use and they are awesome. Takes a while to learn how to set them up - and it can be frustrating. But worth it once it is running.

I like your little space bucket. Could be a fun little side grow with not much effort involved. I built a PVC and panda film clone tent last year which uses 10w LED 3000k bulbs. Uses 120w with 12 of them. What ballast are you using for the bucket?

I have 54w of ballast I think, using very low light as it is just for clones and very early veg

I did do a grow! But didn't document it.

I added a space bucket for clones, it is also fully stealth. I have a bucket that sits on stilts in another bucket. I drilled holes in the floor of the bucket that takes the cones for ventilation, the fan in the lid blows it out the holes pictured in the photos at the top.

It is completely lightproof, and the airflow restrictions are minimal

And my clones don't actually sit in two clear cups, the outer cup is actually opaque - just switched it out for the pics.

EDIT: NB, the sponsors site does not have HTTPS, so traffic to and/from their site is not encrypted... that's security 101 if they take our privacy seriously, which given the nature of the activities they should.

It's concerning that they don't even have  HTTPS, which is usually the bare minimum. Not sure I'd trust that my order details, address information, contact details etc. are safely encrypted either.

Hopefully they can fix it, but I would not personally order without at least them getting HTTPS and confirming how they manage identifying data.

Yeah LEDs are expensive off the bat, but you save costs in the long run. Plus they are super stealthy.  And let's not forget Eskom is in what's called a utility death spiral, so electricity is going to get more and more expensive.

With my LED my electricity bill doesn't even notice

So cab is finally complete.

Cut 3 vents in, added filters to each. Light proofed the entire thing.

It's silent and light proof so I am happy! Readings on all the sensors is good too.

I might try do a 12/12 from seed, do you think I can get it in before middle of December?

On a side note I can import the Vero 29/Citizen/Cree3590's if you all would like some I can probably get a decent price. Just not the enclosures/drivers.

Very interested. Been designing a theoretical setup for a large greenhouse based off of a Pi or Arduino. Not as many as I expected doing it.

Honestly? I don't use it enough to justify owning it. It's a great little device, but yeah I just don't really smoke much. I've used it about 7 times in like a month, this might actually be the second month I've owned it now.

Awesome, I was just wondering because it didn't seem like a crazily high powered light, how efficient is it when compared to a COB lighting system?

For instance my 3 x Vero 29s Gen7 driver @ 2.1a a total PPF of around 460 u/mols (if all my math is right), what is this light outputting?

Time to start a new a grow. I thought Ill post this grow journal up and get the input from the community as we progress.

 

Bought these seeds from Bonza in Jan17. The list of strains is below.

Im using my own soil mix from a year ago, growing indoors in a tent of 1200X700X1650mm and 1 X P4 Sanlight.

For ventilation 1 X 15cm CTF extraction fan and 2 X 12cm 220v fans mounted on the scrog screen to move air.

I soaked the seeds in tap water for 24hrs and and straight into the soil afterwards. With the cooler weather recently and no warmth of a HID the germination took a day to 2 longer, but all is well currently.

 

Heres my babies a week later.

Will the P4 be strong enough for the entire grow?

Is this a sponsored grow log? Keen to see how the P4 works out.

Any beans in the germination chamber?

 Not yet, still trying to acquire some. Should have them shortly!

Dehuey and/or aircon, seal(ish) and condition the room where the cab. is in? Probs a bit of overkill, equipment-wise, for the cab. size though. Have you logged some data with lights on?

Haha that just becomes a bit much, plus I don't consume a lot and I am not selling it so it would be hard to offset those costs!

I will try a small grow during the summer to see what happens, at least I can monitor exactly what is happening.

The fan controller is going in tomorrow with some more sensors. Ambient room sensors and ones at the top and bottom of the [inside] cab to measure differences in temp. I will update with some pics of my progress so far tomorrow!

Sorry for the delays, I should be done with the main construction this weekend, decided to go analog with the power controls as it is a lot of juice flowing into the box so I will be fitting a DB internally.

The lights are all hooked up and working like a charm, I just need to add the vents and attach the exhaust fan. I also want to get hold of some wire and make a 90 degree frame to put my two floor fans on so they blow up into the plant. Hooking up a 12v 5a PSU for all the computer fans (1 for venting and 2 for circulation) all are 140mm fans so they will be silent and move a decent amount of air.

The temp & humidity sensors are all running and looking good. Might be a while before I can find the genetics I want though, which is an issue because I will be in Durban during Dec so my grow will have to be done by then, I might only do my first grow in Jan if it doesn't work out.

I have everything I need except the vents and carbon filter.

My only concern is the temp and humidity flux of the room. Temp ranges from 17  - 25 degrees and humidity from 44% - 70% RH. If i air the room out for a more stable RH my temp fluctuates more.

So I don't know if a grow will be possible under these conditions during the summer months.

That looks really amazing which province are you in?

I think you need a minimum amount of posts to get access to the grow diaries subforum. Admin says in the PM you get at registration, you need 15 posts to get access to most boards.

I think the grow journals are lower? Not sure.

I agree with you, I am pro state regulation with people being allowed to grow for personal use. This should work for most of us here and for others.

I know some people will disagree and prefer a free market model, and that is down to personal opinion. I also don't think that the users of this forum would be pro no home growing lol.
