  1. Well, harvest done and dusted. Wet trimmed, dried for 9 days, and burped for a further week. Happy with yield and bag appeal.

First time I experienced how phenotypes differ. On my outdoor plants we share seed packs, so I only ever get to see one plant per strain. With this indoor run I had 8 plants from one seed pack and the difference between the best and the worse plant is quite significant. Not only from yield perspective but bud quality and looks too. Always knew this was the case, just a wow moment seeing it first hand.

Anyway, here are some of the last pics I took. Two weeks before harvest.

And some pics of drying. Had to take over the guest bathroom and dining room table.. Wife was not impressed!

Now on to run two. Unfortunately running all 8 pheno's again, as yet to decide which to keep permanently. Will only be able to make that call in two weeks after proper cure. The second run coming along nicely. Will flip in a week and a bit. Can only hope the loadshedding stabilizes somewhat by then.

Plan is to reduce popcorn to minimum.. will up the lights from 2 x 600w to 2 x 1000w.. that is what the room was ultimately designed for.

    Keep safe!

  2. Update: did a major defoliation two days ago. Really impressed by how they took it. Maybe a bit late doing it towards the end of week 4, was a bit concerned and still learning the indoor ropes. Not something I would normally do with outdoor plants.

Day two of week 5 and I have high hopes!

Lowered the lights quite a bit too.. still experimenting with height.

  3. Update time

Nearing end of 4 week since flip. Flower has really started to come on nicely in the last 7 days.

Any temp advice..? Conflicting advice on the web regarding ideal and acceptable temps during flowering. Obviously don't want to waste eskom on heater if not really necessary.

20 - 23 with lights on during the night

18 - 19 with lights off during the day

  4. I hear you guys.. for me, anyone who sells something and it turns out they misrepresented their product should be called out.

If I compare to the vaping industry in RSA.. there is a forum, ECIGSSA, and most of the top vendors in RSA are listed there. If anyone of those vendors does something sketchy they are immediately called out and taken to task.

It may sound harsh, but the result after years of transparent opinion and debate is the most customer orientated, competitive and 'fair' industry I have ever dealt with. You can buy anything from any of the listed vendors and you know that you will get what you paid for. Yes, the cannabis industry is not there yet and still in its infancy, but I believe that by not calling out vendors from the get go sets a precedent and expectation in customers minds that it's okay to be ripped off here and there or that it's 'my' fault for not doing adequate research.

Yes, do your research, but is 420SA not part of that research and should we not actively contribute?

And with something like seeds the foundation of any transaction lies in trust. Apart from a sealed breeder pack, you have to have some form of trust that the seeds are what they purport to be. And even with sealed packs I fear there will be more and more 'fakes' doing the rounds.

Pardon the rant, I just have a bee in my bonnet when it comes to dishonest vendors.

And a part of me enjoys seeing them named and shamed🤣

Alot of seed sharks and relabeled seeds going around. A few of SA breeders do this too. They buy from Tiger one Bulk and relabel. I could show you how deep this rabbit hole goes but last time I exposed local seed company's it didnt go well and I pissed off a few people. Sealed packs and a good reputation is worth the extra cost if you plan to breed with the seeds.

F@ck them. Keep naming and shaming. At the end of the day they are hurting the reputation of local breeders such as yourself.

Ja it’s is always good to start with sealed breeders packs. There was seeds going around that was definitely not what the guy said they were. He bought thousands of seeds and resold them. He has a very successful business so will not mention names. But he also learnt the hard way I guess.

Hey.. kinda disagree with "not mention names".. is it not in the communities best interest to name this person/business?

I for one would like to know.. will help me avoid him and issues down the line.

  8. Evening @Naughty.Psychonaut

    11 days into flower..

Had a hiccup after spraying Tenazole.. used a low dosage as recommended but plants did not take well to it at all. Cost me a two weeks extra veg for them to recover. Lesson learned.

Anyhow, they seem to be over the worst of it.

    Hi everyone,

I am currently looking to purchase an indoor setup for myself. Nothing fancy or big. Just enough to be a new hobby. I am always willing to invest in more stuff later, just dont have the money right now.

So basically my budget is Around R5k. I am willing to go over, but anything lower is always preferred.

I got a quote form MarijuanaSA and want a few opinions on it, or just a whole new quote for those that are willing to make one.

    quote.png.2df60dc892ebc2403e3873f73aa1959c.png

It seems to have all the important items in it. I can buy a few items that do the same at lower prices, like on takealot. I am looking at 0.8x0.8 or a 1x1 tents. What would be better? I want to grow around 2 to 3 plants at a time.

Then, I would really like a cheaper light to use but just cant seem to find a good option that is less than 1k...

So basically, I am asking for assistance in selecting all the basic items for my first ever indoor grow. Whatever saves me the most money and gives me enough items to get away for at least 2 harvests before investing more.

I already have soil and pots from my outdoor plants.

Any help will really be appreciated as I barely know what I am buying with indoor growing equipment.

I have a small list of just a few items that I am putting together to use as a purchasing guide. Here it is for a general idea of what im currently looking at:image.thumb.png.8e456de3e32612877d5892591b1d47b2.png

My 2c, maak daarmee wat jy wil 😛

You are going to want to upgrade somewhere in the future.. 99% of people do. I would rather spend a little more now and have a setup that can be upgraded somewhat.

For lighting, look at GrowOpz, he has decent affordable options. If those line items in your quote is ex VAT (too lazy to add them up) and I suspect they are then the price of that light is actually R2500.. for R3000 you could get two 75w lights from him, giving you more light and flexibility as well as the ability to save on electricity when plants are small. Plus, if one fails you atleast have something to tie you over till the warranty is sorted.

When it comes to extractor fans, that one will probably do but I prefer running a larger fan at slower speeds.. 150mm minimum.. much better on the noise level and puts you in position to easily upgrade or turn up extraction when needed (especially during late flower). I think theire is a website like fans.co.za or something that does not add the mark-up that grow shops do.

Lastly, 80 x 80 is super small. Something bigger would offer so much more flexibility. In an 80 x 80 one or two plants max.

I know that all of the above is going to push up costs.. but in the long run you will not regret it. A slightly larger investment now will save you money down the line.

And as Martin7381 said, see what you can find in the 2nd hand market.. people often sell tents and other gear for dirt cheap. If you are patient you will be rewarded. Just be careful of buying lights in the 2nd hand market. You have no idea how hard they were driven and generally will not enjoy a warranty.

People often overdo it with Tenazole. I would not use a dose stronger than  0.7ml per litre.

To kill fungal spores in your room and on your plants, you can also use Imazigard fogger. Safe to use at any stage of growth.

    Thanks

Just to be 100% sure, I can set off the Imazigard fogger while plants are in the room?

  11. I experimented with Tenazole a few years ago. Killed each and every plant within a week 🤣

That being said, I sprayed them 4 or 5 days AFTER a spray of copper fungicide. There was clear copper residue left on the plants when the Tenazole was introduced. I have always suspected that the two chemicals reacted with each other and that caused the Armageddon. Plants were also relatively young at that that stage.

But since it seems that your plants are not adversely effected by the Tenazole I am quite keen on giving it a go again myself. It is a systemic fungicide (not many of those on the market) and works awesome on other plants and trees in my garden. One treatment should be enough to keep any PM at bay.

After 4 days of toil, I have finally moved my setup into the new room. Everything is fresh and clean again, for as long as that will last. There's a bit more space between the tents so I can definitely clean more regularly. I had thought I might be cheeky and squeeze in another 2.4x1.2 tent but I'll probably only get another 1.2x1.2. I am thinking of doing an organic tent with fabric pots and FF soil. Stay tuned. Before I transferred the KmintZ, I gave them a spray of fungicide in case any PM decided to hitch a ride into the new spot.

    1646771554214.thumb.jpg.820e1ad2e30d0a6b2b5c7744e7ccbedd.jpg 1646771554182.thumb.jpg.8912e4533c08fb35ca8f0a46ea39cbdd.jpg

I decided to change the layout of the fans in the flower tent a bit. Instead of having the two fans both on the ceiling blowing down, I now have one in a corner on the ground, and one on the opposite corner but above the canopy line. I do believe there was plenty of stagnant air below the canopy and I feel it had contributed to the development of the powdery mildew in the last harvest. In order to allow the bottom fan the space and ability to blow without unnecessary resistance, I have removed one pot from the tent from one of the corners.

    1646771554254.thumb.jpg.0f4c05946f354adcdbb433239e39f39d.jpg 1646771554195.thumb.jpg.16a87a73668491186be2cbac405dc4f3.jpg

I have taken the mature ZxP plants from the veg tent, potted them up and got them into the flower tent. They were looking really keen for the flip, and they had grown a little past where I usually would have wanted them, but the move had taken a little longer than expected. Due to having one less pot in the flower tent, I only potted up 5 ZxP and have reserved the remaining 6 pots for the upcoming Wedding Cake plants.

    1646771554231.thumb.jpg.d56a91fa62ed25cbe7eb621d8bab995f.jpg 1646761273672.thumb.jpg.3ed757f0dd0ae45b11aae1dc2a82d617.jpg

The KmintZ clones in the veg tent are developing roots, also took roughly 3 weeks. Winning! This is also the first time I'm taking clones within the first week of flower instead of keeping mothers and I can see the difference between clones taken in veg. The KmintZ clones are pushing pistols quite heavily, so I predict a period of reveg. Not to worry, I think the timing might work out quite well as the KmintZ in the flower tent have still quite a bit to go. I will pot the clones after they have the vent open for a day or two to climatise.

    1646761168604.thumb.jpg.17b28c93b0820d5a0886d0fad6bf67b8.jpg

Now that is a sweet setup.. respect.

Like the shiny and clean and plants looking great.

What fungicide are you using for prevention?

    Hi All,

Hoping to medicate my Ulcerative Colitis (chronic for 17 years) by using THC/CBD. My end goal is to hopefully do away with the chronic medication especially due to all the long term side effects.
Purchased the AfricanPure CBD oil but I feel it's not really helping or effective. It also seems to be very oily.
Due to this awesome forum I found the Elixir Extract website and just purchased oils from them.
Wish I'd found them sooner to be honest (before purchasing the AfricanPure and wasting money).

I am also hoping to start my own grows soon as well. So yeah, this is the start of my journey and I am grateful for this forum and really excited to be part of this wonderful community!

    Welcome Frosty

Glad you found a reliable supplier.

It's sad that so many of the commercially available meds out there is utter shite. Pop some seeds in Oct/Nov and get into making your own. Not only do you know exactly what went into the meds but the joy of growing is therapeutic in itself!
