  1. Hard to believe what i am going to say but i have never had a PH problem and i have lived all over, I currently live in ..... not that goofed..... i dont know if it is just pure dumb luck or i have managed to get away with growing some dank with unknown variables... was just wondering...

If someone could help with this one, Newlands spring waters PH, will this not change because of the fires and the increase in acidity.

I havent actually tested that spring, however interested now.

Ive also only fed with tap water and never concerned myself with PH.. last tests told me it was fine, but I hear reports from others now that the PH is quite high.  Will test mine this evening.

  2. They should be under their lights already imo otherwise they might stretch a bit far... Mine are under lights from the time they go to soil.

Right.. ill sort it out pronto. Ive usually germed in coco, and then putting under the light early, or as they pop. Always had issues this way though, root system isnt properly developed yet and watering is a bit tricky. That said, I have been wanting a bit of stretch, will help make a nice strong stem before the nodes start. Will raise the coco up a bit to support.

  3. My plants are starting to take shape, which is encouraging.  In three weeks time I hope to start with nutrients.  Is that to late or should I start earlier?

I have Biobizz grow, is that good to start out with?

The instructions says 1ml per litre, but how much of the solution do I feed to the plant itself?

How often do I feed the plants nutes?  Every second day or every week?

Organic nutes stay in the soil a bit longer than the chemical nutes so you can often skip a feed, just give water inbetween. If you see nute burn, dial it back. I generally use the upper limit of the nutes during full veg and flower, so about 3-4 full caps(30-40ml), mixed into about 10ltrs of water. Each plant generally gets about 2.5 to 3lts of water per feed.

If outdoors, and hot, You could feed more regularly, and top up with plain water every day. I generally go on a feed today, no feed tomorrow though. As they move into full flower, I tend to feed maybe every day, until I see that there may be a bit of burn, then dial it back, flush etc and continue. I could be going about this all wrong, but sort of works for me.

  4. I made a slightly different change to my lifestyle, and it was around what I eat. this in fact made a massive difference, once I never knew could even exist within myself.

I cut out carbs and sugar (although i cheat a bit now) but generally stay away from them. My weight is even now, but initially lost close to 20kg. Was a bit overweight. To me it made the world of difference, and when I smoke now, I dont get tired and lethargic, it has a different effect on my brain when it doesnt have to contend with carbs/sugars. It was like a new lease on life for me.

That said, I dont let travel stop my habits. I travel regularly for business all over the country and into africa, and always take something to smoke. I have undetectable methods to get past security etc. That said, they do not check locally at all. I go through security with bud in my pockets its that lax. have been for 10 years now. I guess if it was harder I would have regular detox sessions, but hell no. One needs weed in those places, makes it so much more enjoyable, especially after work.

  5. I've decided to quit almost everything except Cannabis.

Dropped the alcohol altogether 4 years ago.

Dropped Caffiene a week ago, and still getting round to the nicotine issue this year...

    :-meditate

Impressive regarding the Caffeine, still a massive vice of mine. I dont drink (very rarely do I have a beer or a whiskey or some red wine), or smoke tobacco.

Marijuana keeps me centered, my wife knows this :)

  6. 3.8L for one plant. From that I get about 1L runoff. I'm growing in coco/perlite in a airpruning pot, so it dries alot faster, also, I have monster roots. She drinks like a hobo at a open bar.

would love to see a pic.

  7. Been looking to DIY this myself, currently dont have one. Exhaust goes back into the garage and remains contained however I think I need one.

I started to actually collect some tubs for this. Was going to use one of those 5kg protein shake tubs, with a smaller 2kg tub on the inside, or something to that effect. Using a combination of activated carbon as the filter, along with activated carbon filter paper, and the drilling of lots of wholes in the sides of the two tubs.

You basically chop the bottom of the big tub off, push the smaller tub up, inside, and glue it to the top. Inside tub is wrapped in a stocking, outside tub is wrapped in activated carbon filter paper, with activated carbon pieces between the two tubs.

Havent found the right sized tubs yet, and I dont take the stuff myself.

Always open for a simpler method though :P

  8. As well, would like to see the results.

Is a 3am topup feed required?

Lights on at 18H00, off at 04H30 for now. I feed at 18H00 and when I get home the following day, the coco is dry and the leaves are wilting. So I water once more just before lights out. So tonight I'll see if there's an improvement.

I see. I have a similar regime, lights on at 6pm, when I generally give them water. this ends up being enough for at least 2 days. I wait a day, then water.. coco isnt dry by the next day. Outdoors is daily though.

you mentioned a 3.8lt feed, is this per plant or across a few?

  9. 15/01/2017 Day 25: I added 0.5g Calmag, 0.3ml Amino Acid and 0.7ml Grow, Micro, Bloom per liter of dechlorinated water (PH 5.58 / EC 1333) for her feeding tonight. Can anyone explain how the EC reading works in relation to ppm etc?

isnt that PH a bit low? How are you dechloronating?

Yes definitely on the low side. As long as I keep it between 5.5 & 6.5PH she should be fine. It's very difficult to get the PH spot on when you only diluting 1 litre at a time. As DP grows I will have to use more which makes it a bit easier to adjust ph spot on .

Im interested in what could be lowering the PH there. Amino acids? Im not even bothering with de-chlorinating. I know you can let it sit for 24 hours, then add a touch of sugar to get rid of the chloramines which remain but I dont think this would lower it.

My tap water reads 6 ph out the tap. Couldnt you just use a bit of ph up, enough for 1 liter? I spose it isnt really bad enough to worry.. heard egg shells on the surface also helps regulate and gives calcium boost.
