Day 109 of the grow 4th day into week 9 of flower On the home stretch now. Inspecting trichomes with the loupe and on the buds they are milky and clear but mostly milky. Only finding a few ambers on the sugar leaves. Think we might be on track to chop at 10 weeks which would be 10th September. Let's go! #1 #2 purple all round now. Bud shape distinctly lankier than #1 and #3 which seem to be more similar to one another than this odd ball. 3# Been keeping an eye on the lower branches where things are a bit more cluttered (my baaaad, its one of the many things I've taken note of from others in this grow off that I will do a better job of in future)...and at risk of jinxing it... so far the buddi all rounder spray is doing what it says on the bottle despite my laziness with defoilation! Been a cold week, dipping as low as 13°C, the humidity spikes are from me taking the sensor out the tent to reconnect to network when I was playing around (neek rond) with the WiFi. It's just a fan leaf... but the colours [emoji7] flush mode, blush mode. Day 20 since I started with COVID symptoms and my taste and smell are returning which I'm very thankful for - shit is smelling fantastic in here. I almost wanna say it smells like almond essence?

  7. Sir, I can neither confirm nor deny the possibility that you are in-fact tripping balls (may the odds forever be in your favour)... but yes that is indeed ducting coming through the light/between the lights intake fan sending fresh air onto the plants. Small oscillating fan bottom right out of frame to circulate air back up to the extraction fan at the top left. Hmm... very good point... so you say an even bigger pot??? I will have to search far and wide... and also apply for a small bond to finance the soil
  8. I noticed a familiar logo on some shelves in a store and figured why not support a fellow comrade from the 2021 Indoor Grow off - @mantis and "bring a little luck into my grow" with 3 Mantis pots which 3 of the stronger clones have moved into. The furniture got rearranged

  11. Utilizing the latest evidence and investigations, this series promises to present new information in a hunt for the truth about infamous, iconic monsters and their origins. It features eyewitness accounts and all-new stories while unveiling eye-opening theories about these nightmarish beasts. Wowzers what an intro! I'm intrigued if I may say so myself. That, however, is actually the description from IMDB for the TV program In Search Of Monsters but it seems appropriate here. I'm looking to grow a monster of a tree that could serve as a Christmas tree at the end of the year if things go well. This journal will document the journey. So the game plan is to take one of the Tortoni clones in the veg tent outside when the sun comes around in Spring, with a headstart into veg. End goal is a 200L pot and have 10L, 15L, 20L, 30L and 80L options to get me there. 80L is the biggest I've grown in so this could/should be a personal best for me in terms of growing a tree, especially with the headstart. In the veg tent, we have our clones: 12 Tortoni's - I took 6 cuttings each from Tortoni #1 & #3 from the 2021 indoor grow-off. Despite my noobness at cloning and it getting pretty cold at times I somehow have all 12 cuts alive, albeit to varying degrees of strength. I'll take that as a win, and beginners luck but I'm sure it actually has a lot to do with working with quality material. Something about these @Totemicgenetics having an incredibly strong desire to live - kudos where it is due Biggest plant you see here at the moment, right-centre in this pic is a Critical Churchill seed I had left lying around. The rest are the Tortoni clones. Those 3 in black single plastic pots in the tray were the first to root and are clearly the most developed of the clones at this point. But that's where we are starting from and going to. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers their insights, tips and suggestions

Aug 4 Day 82 of the grow Day 32 of 12/12... 3 days away from half way to Valhalla? For the readers with OCD wondering why I don't have the plants in numerical order... your time has come. From left to right: 1, 2 and 3. Ninja cam view- left to right: 3, 2, 1. Last night they got watered with some worm tea. Worms have been munching avo for a month so this is like worm tea that went to private school. Started at 10ml per 1L water and will up strength to 15ml and 20ml per 1L water assuming no adverse reaction. #1 - frostylocks - definitely the frostiest of the 3 at this point: #2 the runt of the 3 however bud development picking up here too. Besides the purple leaves, this plant is generally a lighter shade of green than #1 & #3. #3 doing her thing. Pistils on one of the heads have started going orange

Im getting the graphs from Switchbot app on my phone... Switchbot hydrometer - via Bluetooth can sync to your phone. Runs on batteries. https://www.geewiz.co.za/smart-home-accessories/122389-switchbot-thermometer-hygrometer-wireless-temperature-humidity-sensor-with-home-assistant.html Some say I'm lazy, I say I'm an effort efficiency freak. So in order to monitor remotely beyond Bluetooth range... the sensor syncs to cloud and therefore also to the app on my phone by connecting the sensor to this hub - https://www.geewiz.co.za/smart-home-accessories/108860-switchbot-hub-mini-smart-remote-works-with-alexa-google-home-siri-ifttt-.html I'm not sure this is the best or most cost effective solution to tick those boxes if that's all you want but a factor in why I went this route was because the bigger plan is to get one of these to switch the heater on based on temp+humidity sensor readings. https://www.geewiz.co.za/smart-home-accessories/107823-switchbot-wifi-smart-switch-button.html I find it fun to play with automation gadgets like this so when there is an opportunity to incorporate it into my grow then even better. It is however rather reassuring to be able to go away for a bit and by the power of WiFi cams and sensors I can be confident from anywhere with signal that my experiment in the garage hasn't burnt the house down [emoji119] Its the small things you know. Can also give instructions to your plant-babysitters from your phone through the WiFi cam if you are a control freak like that [emoji14] Sorry for the product links if that's not allowed, promise I have no commercial interests with Switchbot or Geewiz [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

July 23 - 30: They got freshly caught rain water this week. Nothing added. From this camera (above), left to right: #1, #3, #2. 31 July. 4 weeks into 12/12 Won't lie I get quite excited to peek into the tent when lights come on so frosty ❄ Purple shades continue to appear on the leaves across #2 however I'm not seeing any clear signs of distress and buds are developing so gonna let it play out and see what happens with that. From front on, left to right: #2, #3, #1 Look over here, no I mean over here: Last few days humidity has been spiking a bit high for my liking when lights go off. Going to setup the heater outside the tent but near the air intake to raise temps and lower humidity a bit but not risk proximity to the heater being as much of a threat as inside the tent. Thinking of transferring one of the Tortoni clones outdoor when sun comes round and target a 200L pot by end of the year... proper Chistmas tree... who wants to see it grow-diaried here on the forum? I took clones from #1 and #3... I've never tried anything beyond 80L, nevermind a 200L pot before but keen to grow a monster or go grey trying.

July 3 - July 11: The first week after flip. July 12: Day 9 of 12/12 Very carefully up-potted #1 and #2 into the darker grey 10L->15L darker #3 repotted 10L->20L lighter I usually finish in +20L but initially thought that with them being relatively small I could get away with 10L... I noticed 1# and #2 (closest to the heater) drying faster than usual and I think I over corrected by giving those 2 a bit more water. Sad (wilting/drooping) looking leaves... wary that it could be the heater, it could be me overwatering, but if its root-space related then it's #3 will soon follow them. So repotted to be safe and also lowered the temp of the heater from 26C to 22C - hoping that's less of a shock to the plants right next to the heater when it comes on but will also still prevent the tent from getting too cold. Growing in peak winter is new to me [emoji23] tweak the system and learn as we go... They pretty much pulled out the 10L pots like plugs July 14 - day 11 of 12/12 Still looking a lil sad at this point. July 17 - 2 weeks of 12/12 #2 and #1 looking happier and #3 looking happiest Removed some excess fan leaves. Over the next week I will remove some leaves covering buds but after 3 weeks of 12/12 I'm going to try avoid any surgery until the big cut. #3 in all her glory

Applied buddi all rounder spray yesterday and that will be the last application. 20210710_203352_1_1.mp4 You might notice the ladies got new shoes found some of those plant stands at Cape Garden Centre. not comp related but if you're wondering how the clones are going? July 6 - Day 53 From left to right: 2, 1, 3. They got some water today (explains the humidity spike on the chart). Clothes pegs have been removed - release the kraken! I must still remove the garden wire but they are on with a fair bit of wiggle room so there shouldn't be any risk of cutting into the branches. Can see the little milex heater on the potjie stand in the corner under the fan. Been running it during lights-on to keep the tent around 23-24°C during the "day". Eskom. 15% increase. Pain.

July 2 - 49 days since seeds got wet and the lights switched off this morning to mark the end of the veg light cycle of 18-6. Later today the lights come back on and will begin their 12-12 cycle to the promised land. Its FLIP Friday! Let's turn these little pot plants into bouquets of flowers I've added 2 rods under the pots to increase air-to-soil in the hope that will speed up consumption of water and therfore drying up of the soil in these cold and humid times. Will probably find something else to serve this purpose more effectively over the weekend.
