  1. Welcome and awesome stuff you got there!

I saw your pic on soil. What all have you put in there?
I see compost, just make sure what you use doesn't have a lot of bark in it. I see a lot of first timers (myself included when I started 🤣 ) using cheaper compost or potting soil and it has a lot of bark. From what I have read and experienced myself first hand, cannabis plants don't really like that.

Good luck with the grow, looking forward to the grow diary 🙂

Two tracks I been listening to heavily. Reminds me of when I was a kid watching a bakkie drive past in JHB with guys on the back, they whipped out AK's and robbed a bank, then started firing randomly. Took me sometime to find out the song at the end of the first video. It was worth it.

Some epic tunes there 😄 😎

  3. My vote goes for LST also. I think you can get a lot more out that way. Attached is my Critical Auto from Victory Seeds I just harvested 🙂  250gs wet on the scale, so will see when dry. Been struggling with this kak humidity, so I ended up wet trimming a lot of her (after these pics)...not my usual MO.

Good luck with the grow, will be interesting to watch. I do like the idea of comparing xmas tree to LST on the same strain, but I guess it can be strain specific as to what each likes.

Anyone on this forum had experience with Osmocote?

Haven't heard of it till now. Did a 2min reccy on their site and see something about 14 months release. I need to look more. This is what had me more worried about Talborne organics. 1. Too long of a release as far as I understand it, but then I know some organic matter can also take that long, and 2. their NPK values don't seem to add up to what I would normally look for.

I've used all except for the bio-enhancer. Nothing to rave home about regarding the veg and bloom nutes. This was my first grow and ended up gettign lockout with the salts.

Then the Enhancer is the basically Bio stimulants mixed with Bio fertilizers. So Humic, fulvic and Kelp with some Effective microbes for R1200. Ya can't say much else.

Thanks for the feedback! Any idea if this was maybe first grow woos? Howe much did you feed/mix in of each and at what point?

Yeah I agree on the enhancer, not really worth it. Although I see Fulvic is quite expensive.

I assume you are following Mr Canucks Grow on YouTube?

Never used Green House Powder feeds myself and only heard of people trying their salt / mineral nutes, not the organic stuff which is mixed in with soil.

Perhaps take the leap and try it out, if you decide to do so please let us know how it goes! 😄

Haha indeed! The champ himself. I really am trying to embody the simple and easy growing with good results. I have already learnt there is so much more to that in terms of the experience, but I continue 😄

Keen to try, but the price is just really high, hence me asking around. Seems like some good reviews on it. Depending on how this goes, I may just wait for my BioBozz nutes to finish and then try some. If I do, I will definitely report back 🙂

  6. Hey peeps,

I have been using Freedom Farms and BioBizz (Grow and Bloom) nutes exclusively.

There is a grower I follow on YouTube and he uses slow release nutes to the likes of Gaia Green, which of course we don't get here. So I have been hunting for something similar. In the shops I have mainly found pellets for slow release, which is obviously not ideal. So I have been thinking of the Biogrow (organic) line from Green House.

    https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/green-house-powder-feeding-biogrow/
    https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/green-house-powder-feeding-biobloom/
    https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/green-house-powder-feeding-bioenhancer/

Any one had any experience with these? The rest of their line they mix in with water, same as 'bottle' nutes. This line, you pre-mix in the soil and then top dress weeks later, same as Gaia Green. This is very attractive to me as I don't need to mix nutes every watering.

Would appreciate to hear if anyone has tried this.

    Thanks a mil!

  7. Welcome back and I am happy to see you!

I ordered once from you guys last year and was blown away by the good service. But then this was before mid year. So I was sad to see you go, but understood the issues.

Looking forward to trying you again 🙂

Thanks for the feedback and all the pictures @Live Canna .

Nice that it works for your parameters.

Just noticed that Mars Hydro now also has 3 :-clap different sized multi-chamber tents.

Pricing in an around the Secret Jardin Lodge tents. (Was thinking it would be more competitive)

Yours was a lot cheaper - half price - than the equivalent name brands @Live Canna .

    • Are you satisfied with the overall build quality and materials used ?
    • Would you say the zips and poles are robust and the fabric strong ?

    Thanks.

    -Stinky

No stress bud, happy to help.

I am satisfied with the overall build and quality. But I have seen there are a few like mine around, so you may get one from another supplier, not 100% sure.

Everything looks robust and string, and I personally would not spend the extra on the Mars, unless you have cash lying around. Is this one as good as the Mars, most likely not. But I can see it lasting a good while. Depends how you use it thought too. I only open the tent once maybe twice a day. So if you are zipping all the time, it will last a shorter period of course. Usually the zips are the first to go on a tent.

Hi @Live Canna and thanks for replying!

Waiting to see the picture, but from what I understand, you are using the top right veg  chamber for seedlings/clones and you use the bottom right veg chamber for your equipment ?

    • Is the divider fully removable (allowing use of the whole 120x90 space) ?
    • Can one isolate the bottom right veg chamber instead of the top right veg chamber ?

Sounds like you will be raising seedlings/clones in the right veg chamber and then flowering them after minimal veg time for a sea of green (SOG) style grow ?

    • If this is the case, what size of container will you be flowering in ?
    • Will you be introducing new seedlings/clones into flower periodically for perpetual grow  ?
    • Will you be keeping mother plants ?
    • Can you give us any other details of your proposed setup for this tent ? (hydro/soiless/soil, lights, nutes etc.)

    Thanks.

    -Stinky

Hey Hey, sorry forgot about the pictures last night 🤣 I have attached. Questions answered below:

    • Yes, top right veg, bottom right equipment. I haven't
    • Yes, the divider is fully removable. It attached with a stronger than normal velcro (on mine at least) to hold it up). Its not meant to be used how I am using it, but I made a plan.
    • Sure. You would just need to reverse what I did
    • Still playing with it. I just set it up last week and haven't run anything yet. I think I could probably only get 2 full size (veg) plants in there, or 4 smaller ones. So my inital attempt will be to just cut out 4 weeks of veg (from seed to 4 weeks) in the veg section, then move them to the flower section and continue veg for another month, then flip to flower. This way I shave off a month hopefully. I do need to get a better light in the veg area, but I am playing with that still.
    • I usually start seedlings in a jiffy pellet, then to a solo cup (you get the red american style ones at some tops spars and other places), then a small pot, I think its a 2l litre, then 20l fabric. Sometimes for photo's like my big WW that is currently running I still did another transplant to a 40 litre. This is because she came as a clone.
    • Trying to basically do a small perpetual grow yeah.
    • No mothers yet, not enough space for that. Ideally the end goal would be a whole other tent, a mother and veg area in there.
    • Soil is FF (green bag), BioBizz nutes, Ph'd water even though I am growing 'Organically', Light is a phoenix sky 200 that puts out 240w. Using compost teas also and thats pretty much it. I like to do some auto's also, and usually try time it with my others. So like in this tent now, I have a Critical Auto which is 1-2 weeks from done. Rock hard nugs so far which is great as it is my first grow with this light, a GG4 which has caught up to the WW clone. If you get it right you can often manipulate the plants and grow to sync there timing. I will attach an image of nov or dec where you can see how small the GG4 was and how big the WW. But with some simple things I managed to get them both to a good size and ready to flip together.

Oh and then I run an automated wifi switch system to control everything.

In the pics you will see the shelf and division. In the pic with all the plants, the auto is bottom left, GG4 bottom right, and WW at the back. And I also added the pics from way back where I started this grow with the auto and WW. With it empty you can see better.

  10. So I actually bought one of these tents last year. I looked and looked and this ended up being the best option for me.

Mine is a 90x90 area by 180 I think. And then the partition is 90x30x180. What I really liked about this, is that my light flowers a 80x80 section. I took the divider, and only blocked off the top shelf of the "seedling" section. In the bottom half, I have my fans, humidifier etc. This means that I have the FULL 90x90 area for plants.

Before I was running in a 80x90 DIY which still had to house my fan, heater, humidifier etc. so I lost out on grow space.

Then literally this week, I have been light proofing the seedling section, as the lighting is not perfect with the velcro seals, and obviously with how I ran the divider half way. I installed some small lights and my bathroom extractor from my last tent. My hope is to just shave off 4-8 (probably more like 4 because as mentioned the plants can't get too big in there) weeks. Just to reduce the time between harvests.

So for those 2 purposes it really made sense to me. This is the one I got: https://happyharvest.co.za/product/multi-chamber-grow-tent/

I will take a pic later of the set-up once lights are on.

  11. Great topic. Been wondering about this too as we have also had high RH this week (Jozi). But makes sense what you all say re air exchange.

My tent is in a garage and I pull and vent air from the outside mainly. Sometimes from the garage (if I keep the flap on the side open). So it is largely weather dependent. Air exchange is either constant or on a 15min on/off cycle. So to dehu. that air and then vent it outside is a 'waste'.

What does everyone else do in these summer months?

Is starting to flower in week 3 not pretty normal for Autos?

From my experience yes (depending on breeder and strain), but this one does seem very small. I guess as Organinc. says, might as well grow her out and see what comes of it.

LOL i also battle with Potassium and Phosphorus to be honest

the only way i get around it is by fast checking with google... takes me less than a min and then i know im golden haha.

Does anyone else have any tips for remembering which is which?

I literally just looked at the elements and thought of this maybe:

    Phosphorus - Has 2 'P's" so think P
    Potassium - Has 1 'P's" so think K - P**S Klap 😂

When are your lights on? For the summer months a night schedule of lights on and off during the day helps.

Great suggestion. I already use this in winter (added heat from lights to help with cold nights) and I didn't think of it for summer to take advantage of the colder nights vs days. Will be doing the same 🙂 Thanks

  15. Looks good, and following.

Keen to see how this grow turns out.

I kindly got gifted a White Widow clone, so busy with that in my tent. And then to liven things up, decided to run 2 autos in old soil (but beefed up a bit) outside and see what comes of it. Will also be keeping an eye for deficiencies.

    Good luck!

  16. Nice grow so far. Also thinking of adding more light to my grow. Will start with one QB75 and eventually get to 3. Should be a nice spread and wattage for my tent.

Re the dry dry soil. What was said earlier is correct, if its super dry then it struggles to retain and all the water runs through. So what I like to do then, is water (say if you usually water 3 litres) 0.5 litres at a time, every 5-10 min till all 3l are done. That way you are slowly saturating the soil and you will come right.

I have found with a lot of mediums if you just chuck it in, you almost see the soil 'avoid' the water like that special hydrophobic material or whatever it is you get.

Good luck with the rest, looking forward to seeing more.

From the plant you already harvested, how dense were the nugs? Looked like a lot of bud. My grow is also nearing the end. Not tooo much bud, but dense as lead.
