1. Wait a minute. I have my lights on a digital timer Trailblazer420. Are you saying that if i connect my emergency light to it, it won't power up during lights off?

Nah my head was up my arse. Needs a dedicated circuit and a ups inline to work. Then timer off would equal lights on

I haven't really put any though into this as loadshitting hasn't been an issue... Until it was...

My thought process is as follows... 12v LED strips, connected to a battery, perhaps via an arduino connected to a 9v battery just to power the unit. One could connect an RTC board to ensure time is always correct, breaking out to relays for on and off. Lights will run on a 12v battery, perhaps alarm battery. These lights will run at the same time as primary light cycles, however, if power goes out, the arduino will ensure that the 12v strips remain on. May not help the flowering process, but definitely help not to stress the plants too much.

Digital timer will still be needed for primary lights so they don't lose time. When power comes back on, the 'sun' will simply come out behind the 'clouds' again

Cvmon... Write it 😂... I have the test hardware

Arduino nano if I'm not mistaken

3.

digital timer and a few emergency lights.

Timer governs schedule, its battery and the emergency lights Batts recharge when eskom is actually online. How the timers will help telling an auto switch over switch to not switch is going to be fun

Sadly that's about all I can afford to do right now.

Looking at battery fan options for some humidity control

I luckily have high walls and keep them small just for incase. My last plant only yielded 80gm. But it is so much more potent than the stuff I grew inside. I rate the sun for a light source.

i do have some outdoor going, but really more of a set and forget setup. my major yield is indoor.

with 4 plants scrogged to roughly a square meter each(height and area) i would probably have to build a greenhouse around them.

nothing indicates lack of privacy like a bursting bladder, no housekeys and the realisation that nowhere in my yard can one take an emergency slash without alerting a toddler or its parents

Yeah it would be great if we could just grow out doors, but like McB said, neighbors, light interrupting the dark cycles, it would actually most likely turn out a lot worse than the 2 hours of less light. Thankfully I have not been badly affected by the load shedding as my time slots are sorta odd in terms of that. So I lose about 2 hours at most during flower and 4 in veg.  However when they eventually stop 24/hour load shedding it would basically just be the 2 hour slot. That being said I'm pricing generators now and just seeing which one I should go for. I might just bite the bullet and get the 5.5kva, I work from home so I do need it in order to charge my laptop and stuff.

the 5.5 looks to be a happy medium, will run most of whats needed but cost wise i just cant do it.

looking at a 2kw to run a 400w digital(or two) , circulation fan and maybe basic entertainment in the house.

full timed circuit pulls 6.9a, 2kw genny rated at 9.1a, getting rid of the mag 400w will cut that load in half(measured, not guessing, they are power hogs)

so 2x400w's, a circulation fan and basic tv router laptop style of thing

i thought my 6 to 6 schedule would miss most major disruptions, but this is just a whole new ballgame. week 7 and daytime temps are hitting 32 because of no ventilation, then i lose 4 hours best case of my cycle

I gave up on shrogging my plants. Most of my plants are now flowering outside. Except for 2. I think it is the way to go.

lol, i reckon i'm a tad too far in for that, neighbours may notice 4 x monster plants waving in the wind at week 7.

luckily my yields should keep me sorted for a while. dont HAVE to grow again immediately , but i probably will anyway

7. Feels like I wasted my fucking time getting to week 7. Eskom gutting hours of my flower cycle.
Same as above. Getting a genny. 2kw is about all I can afford but so be it. Partial lights are better than none. Then again... I really don't have a lot of time left on this grow....
Those led options are looking a tad better frankly

8. Should have done this a while ago.

Lights moved to corners after new supports were made.

Curtain rails for the win

Week 6 update. Jd 1 no 3 I. The clear lead bud wise.

1 and 2 appear to be the same pheno with the same bus structure.

Remo is amaze balls... Wish I had more plant to have scrogged. Lol she was a beast but didn't stretch as much as the jdse30c490e4b64deecd7a6a97756b6f3ad.jpg

9. Glad you recovered. Both issues seem to relate to stagnant water. Are you running flood and drain?
My dwc chilli is happy af. Weekly res dump, fill with tap water and dump in nutes.
A little root discoloration from heat but otherwise no bugs
The key is moving water. Aeration if not and change weekly108ad3ecce846435e80822a3266d6627.jpg
