I'm a not-so-new user here from 2019 who realised too late the importance of documenting the grow, especially when trying new techniques. This mainly stems from having had to hide my usage and passion! I now have all the means to share whatever knowledge and experience I can, the support of my family, and a fresher attitude to contribute towards growing the community together. Anyway here follows my journey with many more firsts: If you recognise me please respect my online anonymity as I no longer work for or with the people this system belonged to - here for passion not fame. Last year I was tasked with maintaining one formerly-branded GHE AeroFlo 28 growing system, run under a 700W full spectrum LED. If anyone's as unfamiliar as I was with active systems - it's a 4 tray 28 pot hydroponics system with a concept introducing "aeroponics" into the equation, with a 80L reservoir I think. Fed with only what was available - Cannabiz LiquiCompost... What a challenge! After many pH fluctuations and MANY other issues faced, it was decided the system be shelved and the once 20+ Black D.O.G regular plants (which slowly but surely sexed as males and removed throughout) were to be removed. I had no heart to dispose of all of them, and made space for 3 of the most promising that were topped at least once, and showing no signs of sexing. And so began a passive technique I've been wanting to try... In a smaller milk crate (>30L), a cut open basmati rice material bag held together my mix of coco, used soil, a crushed compost pellet mixture with other dry ammendment. All thrown in over a carefully looped and layered set of nylon ropes, which led to pH balanced water into three 2L soda bottles. I had no idea if this would work, but see the results for yourself. Plants appeared to show no signs of dehydration or further deficiencies, and looked like they took a liking to my stressing at home if anything. I changed the water in the 2L bottles after a week and noted the rate at which the levels were dropping. All in a converted reptile terranium under a gifted 100W LED. I saw these plants through until my crate was covered with a canopy of my liking, until after the 12/12 flip when all 3 turned out as males. If I ran a breeding programme then kudos! But it was a fun challenge while it lasted and I learned new things. Definitely going to tweak and introduce the technique again. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk I understood the technique to still be a passive-hydro style, but would introduce an airstone in a much bigger water reservoir to accomodate two plants each. I was initially given 23 regular seeds to begin with, and still somewhere down the line - due to my lack of experience or simply genetics - every single one "male'd" out in the end. A great disappointment indeed but again the learning experience was worth it. It is my goal to introduce this technique to my tent after completing my first HPS run, and still go the route of nylon rope but into fabric pots this time. The idea was to assist me with the lack of time I really want to dedicate to my grow, and dedicate the few minutes I can to other duties and maintenance. Depending on the reservoir size, I'm thinking four plants in 15L fabric pots, my same DIY "hybrid" soil/coco and perlite mix with ammendment running under the HPS again if I get the current run done right and on track. All in a 120x120x200 tent. Going to keep harping on about vegging under HPS in Durban but let's hope for the best! 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
