  1. aaaaaaah i never knew that- but yes ill definitely try and let you guys know. My updates will be more frequent now that the plants are bigger
  2. Why did you move away from hydro? Yeah i wasnt checking my res daily because when the plants are young theres not alot of PH fluctuations and i wasnt adding CO2 tabs til now Now ill definitely be checking them daily and adjusting - but maybe even twice a day like you said might be beneficial
  3. I am/can definitely supply alot of O2 in the res. Ive got a piston air pump thats providing a decent amount of air and i can even add more air stones to the res. How do you know CO2 under the leaves made any difference in a non-sealed environment ? You did give me an idea though. A floating container in the res with a little water, that has no contact with the res, were i can drop the tabs in might work
  4. im of the same opinion - introducing CO2 when you dont have a sealed environment is pointless. It just escapes into the air and the concentration in the tent doesnt really change enough to have any effect on the plants. Ill give the sparkling water a try tho - thats pretty smart. Would never have thought about that
  5. i hear you- but i've seen some amazing growth with the CO2 tabs that says otherwise I've seen the myceluim C02 generator and im a skeptic at this point. Plus without a sealed environment wouldnt it be pointless? Have you tried out the myceluim C02 generator?
  6. @John Stonedwell I wish 600g dry weight. That would equate to +-1kg wet weight. But nah im not at that level yet. Im aiming for 600g wet weight from one plant which would equate to +-350g dry weight. Which should be very possible
  7. @CreX Yeah when i used to run CO2 tabs with 5.5 ph the ph used to ramp up all the way to 7/7.5 within three days. So i've put it at 5 ph and ill expect it to ramp up to 5.5 within a few hours to a day and end up at 6.5/7 within 3 days. And obv once its gets to 6.5 ill control with ph down
  8. Week 9 - Day59 (05/07/2021) Ive decided not to flip to flower. This will rule me out of winning any prizes and i'm chilled with that. I'll also get to see how the other contestants experience the stain in flower and i think thats some valuable info. Im going to grow her out more and i'm aiming for 600g weight when she does finish flower. I've never gotten this yield ever but its also the first chance i really get to test the mars hydro grow bar. The last grow was thrown away due to spider mites HORTIMIX-DWC She's been growing steadily with no issues until this past weekend when i saw her leaves start to yellow at the tips. Checked the reservoir and the following was observed Reservoir dropped in about 5L of water. Current EC is 0.3 and PH is 4.8 Did a full reservoir change (100ml part A+ 100 ml part B +3ml silicon plus + 1tsp crushed CO2 tab ) New EC is 1.0 and new PH is 5.0 Now with CO2 tabs added i expect the PH to rise over the next few days as the CO2 releases. I will measure PH everyday and adjust as required. I also gave her a decent jump in nutes and i hope she doesnt burn. Im hoping the CO2 is going to allow her to take in much more plus she's at the height were i usually keep my EC at 1.4. Lets see how she reacts - if she burns with the first couple days ill just chuck out the reservoir and go back to the safe route Also did some defoliation for better light penetration Pics to follow
  9. Morning morning. My bad - update coming soon
  10. Week 8 - Day51 (27/06/2021) HORTIMIX-DWC She recovered nicely from the top and noticed some new growth. So removed the top big fan leaves so that the other possible bud sites can get decent light She's been looking healthy so no changes or measurements of the reservoir yet. Still thinking of not switching her. With only a few days left to switch her i don't think she's big enough yet. I understand i wont be apart of the competition anymore. HORTIMIX-COCO No change. Removed from grow EHG-COCO No change. Removed from grow Pics to follow
  11. Nice save on the plants! Your mixing strategy shouldnt cause any lockout or salt build up issues. Unless you are keeping your water standing during the 24 hours and when adding the nutes - then nothing is properly mixing. I drop a water pump in mine so that its continously mixing and then in the DWC res theres an air pump so theres constant water movement. Make i ask why you are using H202? Is it for any Algae that might pop up? I know most people only use H202 in res for DWC because of root rot issues. H202 will kill everything. Even anything beneficial to your plants. And incorrect dosage can also harm roots (Just checking if you are aware ) Didnt mind the comments on my thread btw
  12. Should have seen the plants that i had to throw away. 10 times worse Trimmed affected leaves, then I santized using SAN-O-AGRI. And followed with Efekto Insect Control. Regarding the the silicon. Im doing A in Res, wait 5 mins and then B in Res wait 5 mins and then Adding Silicon drop by drop. I found that if u add more that 5ml silicon at a time theres a residue/precipitate/sediment forming. Also if you adding silicon straight after ph down same thing is happening. So i just do it drop by drop. It takes hella long. So I have extra buckets were i prep the res and then i just swap the plant and lid onto new bucket.
  13. Week 7 - Day43 (19/06/2021) Spent the past week dealing with pest problems. Had to let go off all the plants in the flower tent as they were in a bad condition. Proceeded of a full sanitisation of the flower then and then proceeded to sanitize the veg tent, spray down the plants and remove all the dying and infected leaves. I started by introducing predatory mites but then removed them after the plants were sprayed down as they would have just been killed. Ill reintroduce them in 1 to 2 weeks as i think thats the longest they can be kept in the fridge for before they die anyway HORTIMIX-DWC With two weeks to go to flower decided to give her a top and trip lower leaves and big fan leaves to expose bottom to more light. This should give her enough time to recover and get a day or more of growth in before switching to flower. Did a reservoir change. She showed no signs of any nutrient deficiency and the EC before the change was 0.4. I assumed that this was enough nutes for her to continue on so i didnt increase nutes too much New reservoir is at 0.5EC and 5.8PH. I also added in Silica Plus and Enviroc. I have been playing with the idea of not switching her to flower. I think she will be much more valuable if i grow her out for a couple weeks more and i can get a nice big harvest out of her HORTIMIX-COCO Watered with plain water PH'd to 5.8, Runoff measured at 0.2EC, 6.3PH. Added Silicon Plus aswell. Also added some cover crop of marigold and dill More leaves have turned brown and she seems not to be making a recovery. IF she doesnt show any improvement this week in gonna have to let her go. Ill rerun the EHG vs HORTIMIX experiment again with another strain and hope i dont fuck that one up too. Perhaps ill do it in dwc. EHG-COCO Watered with plain water PH'd to 5.8, Runoff measured at 0.2EC, 6.3PH. Added Silicon Plus aswell. Also added some cover crop of marigold and dill As with the HORTIMIX-COCO plant shes not looking good. Also lost more leaves and doesnt look like shes recovering. Will let her go if no improvement is shown this week Pics to follow
  14. Thank you- ill add pyrol to my shopping list and give this a try should the other method not work
  15. Ah brilliant. No need for them then ! Thank you!
  16. oh and no offense taken. I welcome the criticism. Its constructive
  17. i agree with the hole in the pocket. But losing crop in flower cost much more. And i definitely didn't do my research about the pollen. They attendent said they dont reproduce without pollen so im like okay let me just add pollen, then i dont have to keep buying the fuckers. In my head it was a once of cost. Definitely didnt consider any of your points Most of the chemicals arent flower safe, so how to i treat a spider mite infestion in flower ? And i know i already have spider mites in the veg tent. If i spray the plants with all the chemicals suggested in veg am i garuanteed to destroy all traces of spider mites ? I haven't had to deal with level of pests before so at this point i'm just trying everything people suggest until something works Spider mites seem like they are here to stick around so ill have to have find a way to deal with them through out the entire grow cycle
  18. Other than fly traps, nothing really. I tried neem oil 2 weeks ago but the spider mites just came back with a vengeance really. Within +-2 weeks all plants in flower were gone. So yesterday i've scraped the flower tent and disinfected with F10 pet santizer, followed by San-O- Agri (suggested by Hortis shop). And lastly with a 25% concentration of need oil. The tent is empty now. Going to repeat Sanitisation over the coming week On Sat i added three Sachets. Yesterday i opened one and toppled them onto some plants to make sure they are actually alive. Then i added another 11 sachets to the veg tent. I have about 15 plants in total and i've added a total of 15 sachets. More or less 1 per plant. 15 is abit of an overkill but i cant lose the rest of these plants. I've seen no changes just yet Hortishop said they dont reproduce without pollen so they need to be replaced every 2 weeks. Ive bought 4 flowering daisy plants (2 for veg tent and 2 for flower) and 18 small marigold plants which ill be introducing and i hope the daisies atleast will help maintain a colony over time. However ill be replacing with 8-10 sachets every 2 weeks for the next 2 months - depending on stock availability obv
  19. Week 6 - Day36 (12/06/2021) HORTIMIX-DWC No feeding or measurements taken Pest have definitely increased, HORTIMIX-COCO No feeding or measurements taken No change in growth Pest have definitely increased. EHG-COCO Watered with plain water PH'd to 6.0, Runoff measured at 0.2EC, 6.2PH. Pest have definitely increased. No change in growth Pest have now gotten out of control. Theres thousands of them in the Flower tent. They are all over the place. All plants in the flower tent will be thrown out. The flower tent will be cleaned and santized. All plants in the veg tent will be removed. The tent itself will be santized and the plants will be reintroduced back into the tent. Predatory mites will also now be introduced. New pics will follow after the cleaning of the tents. For now this is the current state
  20. Week 5 - Day33 (09/06/2021) HORTIMIX-DWC No feeding or measurements taken Pest have definitely increased, HORTIMIX-COCO No feeding or measurements taken No change in growth Pest have definitely increased. EHG-COCO Watered with plain water PH'd to 6.0, Runoff measured at 0.2EC, 6.2PH. Pest have definitely increased. No change in growth
  21. Week 5 - Day30 (06/06/2021) Back at home and spent some time in the tent catching up and making corrections. HORTIMIX-DWC Reservoir is at 0.4EC and 6.0PH. Lost about 1L of water. No changes made to reservoir. Pest have definitely increased, Neem oil seems to have not done much. Thrips have definitely increased and also noticing 1 or 2 spider mites HORTIMIX-COCO Watered with plain water PH'd to 6.0, Runoff measured at 0.2EC, 6.3PH. No more changes Pest have definitely increased, Neem oil seems to have not done much. EHG-COCO Watered with plain water PH'd to 6.0, Runoff measured at 0.2EC, 6.5PH. Rewatered until runoff was 6.3PH (Have noticed some PH fluctuations here, going to water once every two days and monitor) No decrease in pests Not looking the best, but still think i can save her Pics to follow
