  1. Hey guys, here's a couple of photos of my Jack herer, starting to experience bud rot, and I cant get the mildew under control in the garden, haven't had a look at the trichomes yet, my guess is they're still clear to milky. thinking of harvesting her early, but she's barely stacked. any advice would be appreciated, already removed infected flowers.

  2. Read on an international forum that some people use powdered milk, does anyone have any experience with using it? I need around 15 litres of milk just to do one spray, and I need more than one spray. but spending R400 on milk defeats the purpose of it being a cheap and readily available alternative.

what exactly is in the milk that fights of the mildew? been fucking with the PH on the leaves with vinegar, and bicarb here and there, but its beyond that,  and this constant fucking rain in Jo'burg, can't we have another drought?

I have a reaction as well. I don't think its the leave edges. I will post a pic one day. any weed (including the buds) will give me a mild rash if it touches skin above the palm - the rash last a few hours - and itches.

pretty much exactly what happens to me. grass does it too, probably an allergic reaction to something in the plants.

Use a spreader agent or something to ensure the milk and water gets spread on the leaves and does not just bead and roll off.

I believe some use sunlight, I prefer to use a spreader agent. I think there is one sold for around R70 at the nurseries or builders warehouse.

Thanks man. 1 tbsp of sunlight good?  also, I read they have to be in full light when applying, they don't get much sunlight in the afternoon because of a nearby tree and building.

@Jedi Messiah for alchohol you can go 1:10 up to 1:4 for more serious PM problems. Avoid treating buds.

Applecider vinegar at 1:4 or 1:8, it's not super critical.

All this is good for PM on the leaves.

    Good luck!

I removed a shit ton of leaves, so this will actually be plausible to do. thanks man.

Defoliating helps. Jamies Garden Shop has an IPM range that really helps. Have used it lank during flowering, but noticed a big drop in terpenes.

TBH, can't afford to get anything over 300 right now. defoliated so much, plants look bare. reckon I shot my yield in the face.

  5. also with all the rain recently, half the plants completely snapped at the main trunk, was taping shit up and putting in bamboo braces, think I put the branches too close together.

On a side note, does anyone else get an allergic reaction from working with weed? my skin starts getting itchy, then hives. goes away in a day.

Growers report good success with Applecider vinegar mixed with plain water. I also recommend a clear alcohol like vodka or gin instead of the vinegar to be mixed with water as it's a bit cheaper and more readily available in the ghetto.

what dilution ratio do you use for either solution? The LSD is my SO others favourite, so I'm really determined to do what I can for it. it's already spread to every plant in my garden. TBH, from the  responses and my own research, it seems petrol and a lighter would be a lot  less trouble.

Cant be sure from the pics but it looks like your plant is very densely packed with foliage which aids in PM buildup. Densely packed foliage leads to pockets of stagnant air with higher humidity which leads to PM.

pretty densely packed. growing mostly indica's and hybrids which were topped and LST"d. reckon I'm going to go in there and give them a big trim.

  7. lol. A+ rant. 😋 evry form of politics ends up working against the people and for the profit of the elites. communism, nationalism, all of it. what you're suggesting is to cut out the middle man (politicians) and put the piggy bankers straight into power. we'll just end up here but without the facade of control in the form of democracy.

Hate it, love it, but you wont change it. best to just accept the shit show that is humanity.

If you buy coco bricks there should not be any trich in there, it is meant to be inert so no food source for the trich anyways.

If this is what I think it is for, then rather avoid the coco and go for grains.

Trich colonizes very quickly and can spread like wildfire. If you have ever used trich before, you're going to struggle to get rid of it.

Products like Explogrow contain trich as well.

    never used it.

I am using grains, this is for the substrate. think horse poo.

good to know that the bricks wont contain it =D

Most common fungi in the air. This time of year is worst time of year to try any sterile work. Temps need to be under 21...

sterility isn't an issue here.fully colonised grains should hold contaminates at bay, hopefully, lol.

Was a fold? Or a break?

Both of them you should actually just leave in the bent position unless the plant is in early to mid veg... Late veg and you could do more damage than good, often leading up to the whole branch dying anyways.

So if you can... Undo your tape and let the break be broken.... Maybe try support it amongst the rest of the plant.

If you can move the plant indoor for a week or so, just enough for the plant to start healing properly then you could maybe get away with it... But the outdoor wind and rain is going to break your fix and cause more harm.

its revegging, so early veg? started revegging like a month ago. where the layer of tape is closest to the stalk, is where it tore. was dangling by about 10% of the stalk? second photo is reveg, it has a lot of bud on it that's far from ready. should i leave it on?

Trimming no... Maybe a Lil... But the sun really penetates so it's not really needed.

You should be trellis netting your outdoor though. The wind and the rain will cause havock in bloom when the bud gets heavy, you need something to support the stems 😉

Im sorry about the broken branch though... That really sucks

it wasn't a clean break, taped her up, sure she will recover. thanks for the tip, will look into netting and a few bamboo posts.

There's always the magnificent outdoor shining sun....

    OH wait.... Rain ☔

outdoor.. a huge branch from my biggest plant snapped because of the weight of the water and I'm guessing the water logged branch. 😅 does one need to trim outdoor plants? mine are looking really bushy, think the humidity might prove to be an issue

  13. hey guys, anyone making their own fabric pots? got a 10m x 1m roll of weed guard, want to try and get as many pots out of it as i can, approximately 20l per pot, and I want to try and get at least 6, but aiming for 9.

anyone did this? what measurements did you use? or if anyone has the measurements of a store bought 20l pot that would be great too

was thinking about cutting it in half, so it's .5m and then making a pot that's around 400cm tall and quite wide, just not sure if the integrity will be good. it's 80gsm fabric, btw. any input is appreciated, need to have them ready soon.

  14. I've only dealt with B&B twice, and I was pleasantly surprised at the service. first time around was when the grow shop was still up, got nutes and seeds. all the seeds were from bulk seed bank. 5 didn't pop out of 8. needless to say, was pissed off, but chalked it up to school fees, then I read on here that they have a replacement policy for seeds that fail to germ, contacted them, didn't have the seeds we had originally ordered in stock, so they replaced it with seeds that were more expensive, only got 4, not 5, but was more than happy because it was better genetics, all of the seeds popped and had a taproot, but again, not having enough experience I managed to kill 2 of them. might be bias, but I love B&B.

to be fair though I haven't had any experience with another seed bank to compare it to, but I don't feel the need to compare.

That's sad bro, I'm glad you got replacements though.  May I ask were they "free" replacements? (I like free things, that's my favorite price) 😅🤣😂

yes, we just had to pay shipping. they changed the policy though, you get like 80% the value of the ungerminated seed back, but because it was our first order, they were epic and gave us the full value. 80% is still lit af though.

howzit, did you start growing your GG yet?

well, no, the one GG bean I got failed to germinate, out of our 7 seeds, we only managed to get 3 going. was disappointing to say the least, but B&B sent us some replacement seeds, honestly the best experience I've had with any business, they're AWESOME. got Peyote Purple x GG4 and a Jack Herer freebie, but 2 GG4 crosses didn't make it, no doubt thanks to our lack of experience. thank God for the Freebie. should probably get some decent soil too. literally germinating in paper towels then putting them straight into pots with our shitty sandy garden soil.

  17. hey guys, so some updates on the plants, and a couple of questions. the one that is flowering seems to be going back into veg, what I was hoping for, was to harvest her to make some space in our garden, but she isnt ready yet. trichs are milky, and as I mentioned, seems to be revegging, leaves are getting more tender, and she's behaving differently. what I wanna know is, should i let her reveg, would harvesting now give me glorified park grass, or something decent? forced flowering isn't really an option, because she's in the ground, was considering a cardboard box, with some foil wrapped for light deprivation? anyway, here's some photos.
