My apologies... The bottom nodeBy cutting away the first node, do you mean you topped them?
Keep a close eye on them as the whole plant will be affected if the new growth is unhappy.
Also... New growth is the greatest source of guaging how happy and healthy the plant is.

They've taken well to the transplant a few days ago... 3 Indica strains looks perky while the Sativa looks more relaxed but all are fine. With the wind being nasty as it is this time of year in Cape Town, the one positive I noticed from this is their leading main stems are waaaay bulkier than the previous plants I started with a few months ago! So the wind doing its thing "training" them to bulk up and be more resilient of mother nature.
Cut the 1st node away on all of them as the leaves turned brown like nute burn although they've only been fed Kelpak seaweed extract every 2 weeks...

Got some soil to fill grow bags but think I bought one bag of soil too little...
Grow bags is 30cm high and has 35cm circumference...at a rough guess is almost 40l
Is 10cm from the top too low? Should I fill up some more?
Also got 15 chilli plugs while there...about 6 different strains....LOVE my chlli!

Need to get some more soil to fill up the grow bags over the weekend and move them to permanent homes. Little bit of burn on some leaves, not sure if its the Kelpak feed every week but will tone the dosage down lower than recommendation on the bottle.

Coming along well! Kelpak doing its thing.... Didn't go this well on my 1st try...that said, temps were much cooler when I started 1st grow a few months ago.
The bigger 2 are 3 days older than the smaller 2

Hahaha!! The plants love it! I transplanted an Inzane in the membrane this morning and the roots were glistening white and healthy! I was really happy.
But yea man, there are quite a few options you can go for.
The hydro stores stock the biobizz range mostly and that's a good go to organic range.
And I have also heard good things about powder feeding from greenhouse. But I'm not sure what you have near you?
I'm in Cape Town Mitchell's Plain but really don't mind taking a drive 40kms in whatever direction...online also fine but I much rather go to the shop as its nice talking to experienced growers in some nurseries...you always pickup a few neat tips from different people.

Aaah thanks for clarification! Me still learning...No, her...
Only females make bud and only females will make seeds.
Males only give you pollen, which then needs to get onto the females in order for seeds to be created.
So I had 2x female autos, I then sprayed the one with STS which is a chemical which suppresses (stops) the production of ethylene which leads to the female plant growing pollen sacs (similar to a hermie, but not due to stress - it's due to the chemicals).
Then take that pollen from the plant and use it on the other, untouched female plant, which is what you see above.
I then killed the plant I had sprayed with STS, it becomes useless as I wouldn't use the bud as Sts is very toxic and I already have pollen and don't want the rest of my females to become pollinated.
Once a plant has been pollinated, its focus becomes the seeds and not so much the bud and trichomes. So yield decreases and potency too.

You mean harvest him...?So I may decide to harvest this weekend, when I looked at the trichomes on Friday evening there was a fair bit of amber already...
Soo, I will pick a few more seeds this weekend and then if they look good I will harvest her this weekend. -
They'll be in the sun during the day and in garage night time...

The grow bags I got from Takealot came today...they didn't specify the volume in liters but put sizes down as 30cm x 30cm x40cm... Height is 30cm so nice and low.
In the pic is a 25l can that fits in there comfortably with space all round... Taking a wild gues that it could be close to a 40l bag with handles... Also got some Kelpak seaweed extract...need to get some more soil to fill these bags come transplant day
Looking forward to the next grow!

Not sure if I should start a new thread as I haven't graduated from my training wheels just yet...
Germinated a new batch of 6... from what I was told by my friend...2 cheese, 2 skunk and 2 bag seed... can't remember which is which as I was too geroek the night to recall...
4 of them popped up last night...still waiting on the other 2...will see when I get home later.
Got some grow bags on Takealot and will use bottled Aura water this round... Thinking of trying Kelpak organic seaweed extract as well...
Still have a good amount Nitrosol left over so will feed when the time comes...soil from Hart nursery in Ottery works well so will stick to it
