  1. So in your order status it says "Confiscated by SAPS"? Did they send any more info? Strange that they would even notify you to that degree.
    But regardless, the SAPS won't go through the effort of opening a case, no chance. That would entail going to court, and then setting a precedent. The SAPS don't want to set any precedent right now because that means they wouldn't be able to harass as many people anymore.
    Just as long as you're not like, operating a massive 5kg per harvest kinda grow at your place, have illegal firearms, a stash of hard drugs and an asshole neighbor that rats you out. This is the only people the SAPS/HAWKS clamp down on, and it's 99% of the time a tip-off.
    Don't stress bruh.
    Yeah, last update is literally 'Shipment delivered PARCEL CONFISCATED BY SAPS'

  2. So in terms of 'sending' clones to friends, how does this fall into the current Grey area? Recently had a clone I sent to a mate be confiscated by Aramex.

    Is that as simple as it is and the end of the story, or do I need to be concerned.

    Aramex terms and conditions do state that they will not ship plant matter though :)

  3. I've also used them, first order did not arrive but a replacement was shipped without any problems.

    They've been around for quite some time

  4. @Trailblazer420
    Whats the average cost/availability of the cob's and driver to replace a 1000W hps disregarding heat sinks etc.
    @PsyCLown
    Any local suppliers of qb's and drivers for diy builds or imports only which seems impossible right now?
    The COBs I use do not use drivers, I am aware that probably also impact my power usage. My 100w ebay chips cost me around R80 - R120 each. Used alu to build the frame and added a few fans to keep it cool.

    They were bought before lockdown, so importing is now an obvious challenge

  5. Lmao, I was just coming on here to say I may have made a mistake... But I didn't know there were different yeasts so I'll head out tomorrow and get the bakers one.

    Anyway, I've added waaaaaaay too much yeast in this bottle, it stopped bubbling in about 24 hrs.

    I've transferred the contents to a 5L bottle and added 2 more cups of sugar to keep it going as well as another 2L of water.

    I was also thinking of having a bottle between the generator and detector to serve as a CO2 collection vessel... I can then add a small valve to somewhat regulate the flow of CO2, hopefully to make the entire thing a bit more efficient.

    Great idea to regulate output, that is definately an easy Diy. You could even use an 'air regulator' for fishtanks.

    Key things to remember

    1. Dissolve all sugar, use a stove top if needed. I normally just boil the kettle, +- 1.7L, dissolve my 500g - 600g brown sugar.

    2. Ensure sufficient oxygen. Yeast needs oxygen and sugar to create Co2. Using a 5L bottle, shake up the remaining 3.3L or use an airstone and pump to add O2.

    3. Add dissolved sugar mixture to cold water. Once sugar has been added, you can once again give it a good shake, ensure proper mixing whilst adding O2 by means of shaking

    4. Temperature, you want your water temp to be around room temp, if the water is too hot, it will kill your yeast, same goes for cold water. When water is right temp, add your yeast. 5g per 5L, but using those 7g anchor sticks, will work just fine.

    5. Do not shake the bottle after adding yeast, you can after 15mins,turn the bottle a few times to mix, but don't shake.

    6. Water trap. It is quite important to make sure no O2 can get back into your mix. A pinhole or 2 in the lid of a cooldrink bottle will also works.

    Good luck and use that brewers yeast to make some cider :). Brewers yeast is hard to come by at the moment.

  6. Well, it's been more than a few hours but;

    Greetings everyone! Lol

    Update time.

    The tent is looking awesome right now.

    I changed the timer to 12/12 and flipped the bloom switch on as well. They're due for a feeding when the light comes on later.

    They're also in for a major defoliation in a few days... Let's hope it isn't too much for them to handle.

    So I took on a small project that took me about 45 chilled minutes to get done.

    A Small DIY CO2 generator.

    I know some of the advantages and disadvantages of running CO2 in a tent and how to properly use it, but I figured it couldn't hurt even though I have a vented setup. I'm not gonna seal up my tent, try to control climate and all that stuff, it's just something new to do and maintain. Please don't hate, lol.

    To make the generetor;

    - I simply rinsed out a 2L bottle, filled it a bit over the label with tap water (my tap water is pretty clean @67ppm). I know distilled water is better to use but I wasn't up to waiting for some to get delivered or setting up a quick distillation apparatus. The cost is minimal this way.

    - I added almost a cup full of brown sugar and shook the bottle until all the sugar was dissolved.

    - I made a hole in 1 bottle cap for the sugar/yeast mixture and hot glued a pipe in place for the CO2 to travel through as well as to serve as a detector in another bottle.

    - I added a 20g sachet of dry, high foam superbrew yeast to the bottle and shook it up a bit (closed with a normal cap) first to mix it up. I then screwed the cap with the single pipe onto this bottle and left it aside to allowe some time for the mixture to start reacting.

    - I made 2 holes in the cap for the "detector" bottle, 1 for the pipe from the first bottle submerged in water and the 2nd to channel the CO2 to the circulation fan with both pipes sealed onto the cap with hot glue. The pipe is submerged so it can develop bubbles as CO2 is being formed. This is so I can monitor how active the mixture is.

    - I tied a small hand towel over the yeast mixture to shield it from my grow light and placed everything in the tent.

    I'll maintain this yeast solution by emptying out 70-80% of the solution out, filling it up with fresh water and adding another cup of sugar.

    This will be done every week or so, I'll judge by how many bubbles per/s can be viewed at the detector. The process creates byproducts that will make the solution toxic to the yeast if left unattended for more than a week or 2.

    Here's a short video on the setup;

    I'll put up a few pictures of it also, in case the link doesn't work for you.

    I've included a few shots of the girls as well.

    Enjoy.

    I could be wrong, but Brewers / brewing yeast may not be the best option here, although it will certainly cause no harm.

    When brewers yeast consumes sugars, it creates co2 and alcohol, whereas bakers yeast will focus on co2, with alcohol as a side effect. I've found that 1g of yeast per 100g sugar and 1L water seems to be a pretty fool proof recipe with plenty bubbling...

  7. Just to debate on Psyclowns COB comment.
    I personally only use cobs, haven't tried quantum so can't say anything about it.
    But the spread on the cobs are fantastic they definitely do not "Suck" I feel that's more a personal opinion than a scientific one.
    There is only one chip I use tho. Which is Vero29 the 68v version.
    I personally use only COBs, the spread is not great, your actual output directly in line with the COB will be much higher than if you were to move your reader just a few cm. COB also has a big heat factor compared to QB, as well as much less energy efficient, depending on the output of your COBs anyway. GP weather is great to counteract this at the moment though and my 1.5x1.5 tent is running at an average of 22 deg. My COBs don't allow for indoor summer grow unless I fire up A/C

    The upside with COBs are that, with a little electrical know how, you can put together a DIY light, reducing your initial cost, but also allowing for easy expansion.

  8. I'm quite certain it is not legal. It's one of those things they are supposed to let us know about like the legal weight limit per person and such at the end of this year.. I am kinda doubtful now about that with all the madness going on currently. I think marijuana legislation and regulation will take a back seat while they figure how to prevent the country collapsing.

    Now that's just from a national stand point. From a quick look at PostNet's terms of service, I have found this:

    5 PROHIBITED GOODS

    5.1 The shipper shall not deliver the following goods into the possession of the company:

    5.1.1 bullion, currency, precious stones or metals, jewelry, antiques, art works or other valuables;

    5.1.2 human remains, livestock, or animal or plant matter;

    Sauce

    So with PostNet specifically, they prohibit plant matter, which I can probably safely say cannabis falls under.

    Now..that isn't to say I've never received cannabis via PostNet..but I am not advocating you do anything risky or illegal..just saying..things happen..

    Awesome thank you for the feedback, I was looking at aramex which I think postnet outsources to in some cases. They actually have something specifically about connabis, but the info on the link from their site to the related topic has been removed

  9. Hello fellow cannalovers. As we are nearing the due date for the outcome from parliament, does anyone know what the current legislation is around sending bud via postnet? Not massive amount, figure probably around 50g or so.

    Can't seem to find anything online.

  10. I normally do a gel dip, then a powder dip. Takes 8 - 12 days to fully root in peat pellets and around 14 days if going directly into potting soil.

    I mist cuttings and the inside of the tray. Seal for 3 days, then remove the hood on day 4. Days 5 - 8 I allow some fresh air, but still keeping humidity up. Day 9 it gets opened again, by this time, they should have enough root to grow without the dome, but you'll be able to see which tool and which didn't.

    A very light tug on the stem will give you an indication whether they rooted or not. With pear pellets the roots should have penetrated the outer walls of the pellet at this point.

    Currently on day 6 and quite a few of my clones have already rooted, but they will only be transplanted around day 12 - 14 to make sure the transplant doesn't stress them too much

  11. Too much time spent with the ladies  Got everything locked in now so don't need to pay much attention at the moment. Just letting them do their thing. Which leaves me with even less to do.

    I am beginning to ponder how I personally could enter an industry of generating income at home. All of a sudden people are doing it in industries otherwise thought not possible. I want in.

    Are courier services even operating?

    I understand couriers are still operating, but not so sure if it is for all products.

    As for me, working from home, so minimal change except I no longer have the travelling frustration. Not sure it's going to be an easy transition back into 'the norm', it's day 6 for me...

    Stock levels are decent, and should survive up to a 6 week lockdown. Alcohol and cigarettes will run out soon, actually, shortly lol, so my nicotine addiction will be broken even if the lockdown is only 21 days. As good a time as any to stop I guess.
