Chris Jay
A friend of mine called me this morning saying that they found a joint in their daughters school bag, and they asked my advice. A difficult topic to discuss, since I am not a parent and the legality of cannabis. The child did explain to the parent that they are using cannabis for their anxiety they face, and not using it for recreational use, and they feel cannabis is far better than the prescription drugs they have been given by a doctor. i am not to sure what the answer is, but wondering if any other parents have experienced this type of situation and what the outcome was. Quote Cannabis has changed dramatically in South Africa over the past few years. What was once treated almost entirely as an illegal drug is now legally recognised for certain private uses by adults. At the same time, cannabis products are becoming more visible, cannabis discussions are happening openly online, and children are inevitably growing up in an environment where cannabis is no longer something completely hidden from them. That raises an important question for parents: What happens when children encounter cannabis? Can children legally use cannabis in South Africa? And how should parents talk to their children about it? The answer is more complicated than simply saying cannabis is either “good” or “bad” Source
