  1. Sorry about the long delay in posting. Here are the girls, they've gone into flower.

I might have been too light on the nutes though. Ay, so much learning though. Anyways, I saw an aphid today. I'm pretty anal about pest control so I'm a bit bummed. I have organic pyrol and neem oil. Safe to use now?

    Thanks all

  2. What's up man,

Some nice strains you got going there, really keen to see how they turn out.

I really hate to be that guy and I mean no disrespect or anything but to me your plants look like they having a bit of a tough time getting going.

I personally find autos a bit tricky and usually stay away from them (I'd even rather do a fem 12/12 from seed lol), however recently I scored some autos on the cheap so decided to try my luck at autos again.

I realized with my previous autos I wanted to give them the world and always fussed over them and made sure to get them every nutrient I could afford, this was my downfall as I now realize with autos, less is more.

So for this run I am using the KISS method(Keep It Simple Stupid) and I can honestly say I might have a good harvest from these autos, still early to tell but this round my autos are still alive after 27 days and still looks green lol so that's a good sign.

I started them in coco plugs and then into 10L pots with FF Premium soil after they sprouted. The first week or so I only fed them EM Pro Microbes and let them feed off the soil, around the 2nd week I started with a very light dose of Pot Radix to boost the root growth and now I will start with Pot Grow. I think I noticed some preflowers on them this morning so will continue with Pot Grow for another week and then switch to the Pot Flora.

My advise to you would be to hold back on the nutes and the coconut water for a few watering's and water with PH balanced water or if you have microbes you can add that. I'm just concerned that if you 41 days into your grow your plants might not have time to recover and get as big as they could.

You can take a look at my grow here if you like:

I think you may be right mate. This might be a light case of nute burn. Think I need to take into consideration that this Freedom Farms classic soil is also 'hot.'

Will only water for now. Thank you!

No offense taken at all mate. This is a learning experience after all. My only comment to you after looking at your diary is that you vegged under 18/6 light. Mine have been totally outdoor which means less sunlight per day which would explain the slow growth. I'm actually seeing quite a burst of growth. Seems they've reached some sort of critical mass and are really shooting out now.

I will monitor though and keep the thread updated.

  4. Two weeks since they sprouted today. Will feed the same regimen tonight but I’m bumping the Kelpak to 2ml/liter. Will only add fish mix week three. Also sprayed Pyrol on the tomatoes and then lightly on the plants last night. Feedback please?

  5. Sunday was one week for the trio. Fed one litre water with 1ml each of Root Juice, Acti Vera and Bio Heaven and Kelpack to each plant. Will water one litre water with 15ml coconut water to each this evening. Here's this morning's group shot.

  6. Burying my head in the sand and hoping for the best tbh I'm not sure. Have seen so many different bugs and pest types on here I don't know that I can prepare for them all in advance.
Will wait until they inevitably raise their ugly heads and deal with it as it happens.
Will put a hundred bucks or 2 in an emergency bug killing envelope in case they strike mid-month

I got Bioneem and Pyrol from Biogrow. Those pest f*ckers wrecked my tomatoes last season.

    GLHF!

  7. Hey all

Finally got my beans in the ground. My goals are are potency, flavour and yield and my setup is as follows:

    • Outdoor on my balcony
    • Strains - all Dutch Passion and bought from Trophy Seeds.
      • 2 x Auto Blueberry
      • 1 x Auto Orange
      • 1 x Auto Daquiri Lime
    • Medium: Freedom Farms Premier Organic Mix - the green bag
    • Pots - 7 gallon Grow Guru fabric pots
    • Nutes: Full Biobizz Line

All seeds were germinated using the cotton pad method. One of the Blueberries took some time to show a root and it's currently in it's pot. I'm still waiting for it to break soil. I'm just misting with water and I've added about 2,5 ml of coconut water to the mix.

    Day One - 27 September 2020

    Cheers

  8. Update time. My tomatoes. As you can see they're blooming. They were my test subjects for my auto run. Feeding all Biobizz nutes.

My succulents. They have grown a lot. Need advice as to whether I should repot them.

My big leave Spekkie. Had a fight with caterpillars and aphids but Bioneem and Pyrol solved that.

Fertilizer same, if you dont mind, go BioBizz and Freedom Farm Premium Classic soil.

With that combo you can skip the ph/ec and ppm pen.

    Hey man

I'm about to pull the trigger on a ph pen since I'm gearing up for my first outdoor grow. I'm on balcony with a lot of afternoon sun. Was planning to run in fabric pots but after seeing the point about water I'm thinking hmmmm. Could you please expand on the no need for ph/ec meter thing? I currently filter my water with some kuro bo activated charcoal. Plants seem to love it thus far.

Please help and sorry for the thread hijack.

So a PH pen is vital, especially if you are going the coco or hydro route. Do not get a cheap meter, I recommend at least getting an HM Digital PH pen and they are around R700 +

An EC pen is cheaper and I find the cheap chinese ones are accurate enough.

If you want to go the coco route, well, coco is cheaper if purchased in large bricks and then I don't recommend you use BioBizz nutes.

I'd recommend non-organic, salt based nutes... of which there are lots of. Hortimix, Haifa, GHE, Greenhouse Powder Feeds and many more.

An alternative to the Freedom Pots are the Plant Matter pots - I prefer them over the Freedom pots. The way they are sewn and the quality of the material just seems better and easier to work with. If you can't get Plant Matter pots then Freedom pots are still great!

Thanks for the advice will look into getting a ph pen asap. I think I'm going to go with soil-less. Going to look into Freedom Farms soil-less mixture and also the GHE FloraCoco range. Thanks for all the help mate. Here is an update on the tomatoes.

    Very nice!

I assume your balcony gets a lot of direct sunlight? Cannabis will love the direct sunlight, the more direct sunlight it can give the better she will respond.

Also I would not recommend the soil you are using for cannabis, lots of bark in there and many tend to have issues with similar soils which contain a high amount of bark. I would recommend that you get some soil which has been tried and tested when you finally get around to growing an auto.

Freedom Farms and Organics Matter are both decent soils to use for cannabis. Nitrisol should suffice for veg, as well as Seagro. When it comes to flowering (so around week 4 roughly), then you would want to get a nutrient specifically for flowering. BioBizz Bloom is a decent one, easy to use too and you will then be using the bloom / flowering nutrients until you flush your plant. I'd also recommend a 20L pot, even for an autoflower.

So just a few things to start looking for and keep in the back of your mind.

    Yep. Lots of afternoon sun.

I was such a noob. Only after I used the soil did I see that it could have used some perlite. I have looked into Freedom Farms soils and the Bio Bizz range. It's the reason I want to grow outdoors first - get it dialed in and then move indoors.. The big question for me is whether to go soil or soil-less via coco coir? EC meters are kind of expensive and right now I think I need a ph meter more.

Thanks for the pot size recommendation, will look into Freedom Pots.

Nice man! Looking good, what about some fruit plants or veggies?

Do you have a garden to grow in or are you limited to pots?

    Thank you very much.

I live on the top floor in a flat. The balcony is all I have so I'm limited to containers. Growing stuff in preparation for some autos later this year.

It seems like you read my mind as I've just popped some tomatoes. Used the spray and pray method and two seeds sprouted. I'm going to try to do some lst and I'm going to replant into a bigger pot after they're strong enough. Moved her to teh window sill with my cactus, Baby Yoda. I have also planted Bush beans but still waiting on those.

I'm currently using Red Tractor potting and veg soil and also Nitrosol: Organiksol which I feed at half strength every second watering.

    Cheers

  13. Hey all.

First post. I"m a bit of a noob but my wife has vetoed planting cannabis till the law changes. In the meantime I'm scratching the itch by growing these. I've also planted some tomatoes and green beans.

    Feedback most welcome
