Please share insight on Products you use, where to source them, noob pointers so we dont spend money on useless stuff.

What type of grain you using? sorghum, wbs? any other?

And what do u use as substrate for ur monotubs? Any special secret recipe?

Keen to see the pasteurization process man. can i get away with not having a pressure cooker? those are expensive.

    :-peace

  2. Shot

I did move 2 ladies , one at a time to my bedroom, very low air circ, covered in plastic garbage bag,  except the target branch.

After dusting  the pollen i covered it on a paper bag and sealed it tight . . . showered, changed clothes and went back in the tent with them ladies. 24 hours later, did same move to bedroom to remove the paperbags, very carefully,  and sprayed ro at whole branch.

    tried my best.

In the process, since was extra vigilant, managed to spot 2 hermies, They where sideprojects on small pots. They are outdoors now, balls chopped off, and cold.

Dude that ordered is in talks with PF about this Masculinized beans. Maybe they will sort him out.

  3. Nah, brother cheese. Those were indeed the 2016 project beans. got my other babies going in the tent, C3`s.

I am going to use  Mekanika haze n 1 male to pollinate  designated lower branches on the ladies i have. I`m a newb at this. never done before, hope i dont overseed the tent. been reading tons on it im going crazy.

  4. Greetings, fellow horticilturists.

I present to you, Straight from Amsterdam, bought by a friend and also grower, Plantformers. They where kindly passed to me to start them based on my high germ rates.

Crossover OG , and Mekanika Haze  (3 bean Fem packs)

Crossover OG, We got 0 out of 3

Only 1 bean showed the taproot on the shotglass, but even that one didnt make it on the medium.

That left us with The Mekanika Haze to tell the tale.

Mekanika Haze, We got 3 out of 3 . yaaay :-bow

Theres just 1 little problem i noticed a few weeks later.

    20160423_120135_zpsh62gw9ih.jpg

They are males.... not 1, 2, but 3 beans out of 3, sold as feminized, turned out to be MALE.

Had to cull 6 clones, took 2 of each.

theyr fatherplant sare still alive outside. But im so pissed, dont know if i even want to try and use them for a small breeding project. Certainly dont trust Pantformers, They run theyr business bad enough that Regualar beans end up on a fem pack. I can only imagine the corners cut in other areas.

  5. 8 Litre pot, coco+perlite base, and about 15% screened potting soil from pick n pay. fed biobizz from seedling.

This was the basic feeding for this lady at the time TK

  6. @4207365, thank you, i also believe the swing in water content might have had something to do with it, i will not return to tap water tho, as my water here is far from ok to drink. I have started a new grow from seed with Ro water and have seen a lot of improvements, a lot of other factors also came into play aswell,  but surely my water is dirty compared to SA water.  I will be doing some hydro experiments very soon, as this is the only time in the year my temps will allow it.

@Reaf, i think u are right when u say it was there was a lot of little issues snowballing, and surely i was not on top of things, was still getting my head around all of it.

Certainly a ph issue,  causing a lockout seems quite plausible, and your theory ... on how my observation and actions led me to believe it was bleaching was just poetry.

Thanks to 1 great Post  in this forum, now i have prepared a much richer mix, from flushing and buffering the coco, with a few amendments, one of wich is Lime. i went 1/2 recommended dose on all of them, cooked to my best knowledge for a month and Voila, i am seeing amazing results, compared to last run.

  7. Well, that was one of the big questions marks indeed. Acording to my notes here, i was ph`ing it with swiming pool ph test kit. Was at about 7 after nutes, so added lemon drops to bring it down to 6. This episode, by the way, sparked me into rush buying the ph and ec pens, and been using since then. those pool kits are useless for a grower.

Other factor on this baby was the water, she has been fed tap water from seed to week1 of flowering, my tap water comes out at 350ppm, and by week 2 of flowering i had the Ro system running, so i switched to RO+ca/mg

  8. Ok, this baby had a very Long Journey.

I was very convinced the discoloration i saw at the tops was light bleach, mainly because i was pushing it to find the limits.

So, any ideas on what may have caused this, some sort of deficiency perhaps, Note that this baby has been harvested, i just want a better understanding so i can avoid future similar problems.

Got any spanners left uncle Reaf?

  9. Thanx Gents, thats what i thought, my environment caused a regular bagbean to hermie at week8, even tho i have made major upgrades to sort the last run issues, i will not risk it, just gonna carry on and us AC for a few hours if need be...

Oh, and this pic is just a test, im getting my head around photobucket. (Tks Maxwell)

    WW and SSH @week2

  10. Thanks Bru, i have read it somewhere also, the method itself, of gradually moving the time is not what concerns me... its the strains im running, they are known to go hermie over stresses.

The question is if it is too risky to attempt, they looking fabulous, and would hurt my soul if any of them show them nanners. and of course. could i really blame genetics if indeed they hermie over this adventure?
