Yeah, I have space to grow outdoors in small pots, but the lighting in those spots aren’t ideal as we have trees. I successfully grew a plant in my windowsill (turned out to be male) but reason for growing indoors is more because I’m setting up a hydroponic system for growing our own food and wanting to split a section for the cannabis plants
-
And HID from my understanding creates a lot of heat and would need more cooling systems in place than the other lighting options
-
Yes, initially looked at LED, sounding like we should rather stick to that, as with T5 we looked at those for our other plants mainly but had trouble finding out about ballasts and how we’d connect them all up with an affordable system that wouldn’t be too costly
-
Thanks and yes based in Cape Town, looking for the cheapest option as I’ve set up a shed for growing other plants as well where it’s divided as they require different light settings.
-
No length and breadth height I can adjust still

depends ,you need 6400k cfls for veg and 2700k for flowering if you going to use cfls.Otherwise imo you wasting your time ,specrum is more important than lumens
Will be yes, but just not sure on how many bulbs I need for the space

Hi all, I have a space that’s 1m x 50cm where I’ll be growing some plants, would 6x 45w daylight CFLs each with 2000 lumens be adequate? Would be a total of 12 000 lumens then and I’ll be using the reflective Mylar to create a cover for the lights as well.

Great thanks

Yes definitely, I’m going to be lining the whole shed in Mylar with insulation, walls and ceiling

Does anyone know what kind of area this light from growopz can cover? Both in veg and flower state? Could 1 unit work for a space of 1m x 50cm?
QB-130 Dimmable "Quantum Board v2"

Okay thanks all, will take a look at those

For some of my plants I’ll now likely be getting some of these quantum boards, but for stuff like my lettuce, since I’ll be needing a lot, what cheaper alternatives in the R1000-1500 range max are recommended? And has anyone ever used these strips? Considering them just for the lettuce if they could work well enough.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at those, I’m also going to be using the lights for lettuce, tomatoes and such as I’m setting up a grow shed for it all so I’ll be needing quite a few lights

Hi all, new to growing and want some opinions on lightning, below I have details of some different lights I found that so far are where my options are at. Which would you guys recommend, which wouldn’t you and why? Has anyone here tested any of these, if so how did they work for you?

Yeah, we looked at the cheapest quantum board from growopz and also at the Mars board, budget wise was hoping for as far under R2000 as possible that would still get a decent yield, but guess we’ll rather just go with the quantum boards then as we initially planned
