Update: Thursday 29th July. 4 weeks into flower.

I've seen a huge push from all the ladies. Main cola's have definitely overtaken their counterparts.

I'm seeing a slight purple color on the pistils of T3.

So I've been looking at all the other entrants pictures lately and feeling very behind, wondering what I'm doing wrong. Why do my plants look so far behind in flowering? 3 weeks in and they're still very small. I've ensured that there's no light bleeding into the tent but still, the ladies are moving slow.

This morning it hit me.

In my attempt to increase the heat in the tent with a heat matt. I totally forgot about the darn led display on the thermostat.

This what it looks like with lights off.

To all the experienced growers in here, do you think the ladies will bounce into shape now that I've turned this off? I could actually just move it outside the tent too.

Luckily, the weather is getting warmer so don't really need it anymore.

Bingo!

fuck the relief you feel when you find the problem, and the contempt for oneself because you are the one at fault.... man i know that feeling all too well!

Light is such a crucial factor to get right - for example, i am also running a setup at my dads place and building it up slowly. My dad bought an analogue pool timer with the dip switches, and i wasnt too keen on using it but he needed a timer so hey.

turns out, this timer stops counting when there is no electricity, so the timer has been going off and on according to Eskom's schedule pretty much which has sent the plants into a semi reveg state because they have no cooking clue whats going on!!

i am keen to see your ladies explode now that you have rectified your stuff!

I have the same problem! I found that working with the 12hrs cycle if the loadshedding happens within the first 6hrs of lights on then I leave the timer where it's at so it can complete the 12hrs lights on cycle. if the loadshedding happens in the last 6 hrs of lights on then I move the timer over so the plant gets only 8-10 hrs of light.

my thoughts where that switch on and off, on and off, on and off, causes much more stress to the plant than to rather just give it an extra 2hrs of darkness...

so basically when loadshedding happens during last 6hrs of lights on, then my plants go on "10/14" cycle for that day.

if loadshedding happens during lights out. no problem.

I been thinking of getting those magneto LEDs that plugs into the wall and comes on automatically when the loadshedding kicks in, but I haven't seen enough stress on the ladies to encourage me to get those.

plus, you will still have to remember to go move the timer, because if the timer stands for 2hrs and you provide light during that time without moving the timer, that will mean you giving the plants 14hrs of light, which will surely send them into reveg.

so I leave the magneto LED option, it will make me lazy

Tuesday 10/08/2021: week 6 of flower.

Ladies all looking fantastic this morning. Buds all over the place and starting to fill out.

All three ladies were fed a mixture of black strap molasses and Epson salts yesterday.

Tuesday 23rd August: week 8 of flower.

Ladies still looking good. T3 has started developing a purple color to her leaves. My research reveals this to be a phosphorus deficiency. It must be related to the nutrients I'm giving her because another plant on the same feed cycle as her is doing the same.

She's currently on GHE Bloom 3ml/l

I'll flush her over the next few days to try sort it out.

Photos taken just after lights off tonight.

They looking good. That's not a deficiency... Some phenos do purple as they fade right from about the 7 week mark

You know initially it's exactly what I thought because I've seen loads of plants look like this from other growers but this competition has made me question everything lately. It's been great to have all the experience and expertise of all the other growers commenting on your own grow. I'm really enjoying growing your genetics, so I thank you again.

Loving this competition too. I'll definitely be back for the next one.

Tuesday 31st August : week 9 of flower.

Orange pistils all around, even the phone camera detected the plants as fireworks when taking the pictures. Lol Fireworks is no lie. The ladies are looking hot!!!

Super frosty all over too, and smelling amazing!

T2 is my top performer out of the topped plants. Admittedly, not the fattest of buds but I'm super happy with the grow. They survived one of the coldest winters we've had in a long time.

I think it's time to take the microscope out to have a look at some trichomes.

Welcome to my grow diary 🙂  Dare I say this competition should be interesting 😃
Seeds in water and to be planted out later today. Loved seeing the dark colours on the seed, very different to what I have usually seen 😎
