  1. First time growing photoperiods, quite excited. Genetics Hiroshima by Renegade Seed Co. 6 Pack High THC, and according to the product description should deliver "high yields of dense, rock-solid buds." Hoping to achieve that. Want to make one a mother and start learning to clone. The description says "These highly stable genetics produce two phenotypes at most." Should be easy to choose a winner to reveg. They advise topping, which I am also looking forward to learning. Want to also try "FIM" a plant or two to experiment. Grow Setup Same as before. Here ~ Lets go 9 November Seeds arrived. Also received a Promotional 2 Pack of G-Fawke. 10 November Seeds into a glass of spring water. Onto a heating mat and into a dark cupboard to soak for 18 hours. 11 November Seeds started showing roots. All 6 seeds popped, gently took them and placed them root facing down in Jiffy Preforma Plugs. Covered the holes slightly and into the ROOTiT Small Propagator they go. Heating mat underneath, and gently misted with spring water. Also threaded the hygrometer reader through a ventilation hole, to see the environment reading. I think this reading is fine for germination. Any and all feedback welcome. Hoping for them all to push out effectively over the coming days. In hindsight I should have maybe done the paper towel method to get the roots longer, before putting them into the plugs. I've also previously had a failed germination where I watered a bit much, so just gently misting this time as to not drown/stunt the seeds.
  2. Hello growers I would love to have an opinion on this topic. Let me update you on what I have been working with. I have a one plant indoor grow inside a 80cm x 80cm grow tent. I use a 40l fabric pot with both Orgasoilux and Freedom farms soil (green bag). The bottom half I use Orgasoilux(20l) and the top half I use Freedom farms soil(20l). Throughout veg all I give the plant is Biodyne Environoc 401 (microbes), Molasses and water. This results in an extremely healthy plant. Once I flip to flower I start using organic bottled nutrients. In the past I have used Biobizz Bio-bloom, and more recently I have used Dirty hands inc - Bio-Phos (Jamie's brand). I give 3ml Bio-Phos once a week early flower and up it to 5ml every week mid to late flower. Plus a molasses feeding every 2 weeks and stopped using Biodyne microbes 1 week into flower. I was thinking about completely ditching bottled nutrients and going the topdressing route for flower. I was thinking of maybe topdressing a week before the flip with Jamie's elemental blend. I am just worried if it will provide enough for the plants through to harvest. I was also thinking of maybe using my own topdressing blend of Dry kelp, Gypsum, Malted Barley and Worm Castings. Would love an opinion on switching to topdressing for flower and if the elemental blend should be more than enough to take me to harvest. If you think I should just stick to bottled nutrients for flower let me know. I am going to include photo's of my 2 previous grows using the method I have stated above. Just trying to get the best quality flower possible :) Some thoughts of mine...… Topdressing vs Liquid Nutrients? Biobizz Bio-Bloom vs Dirty Hands Inc Bio-Phos? One topdressing enough 1 week before flip? Elemental Blend or my own flowering mix? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Grow: Medium: Top Half Freedom Farms soil (20l) + bottom half Orgasoilux(20l) Additives and Amendments: Molasses + Biodyne Environoc 401 Microbes + Dirty Hands Inc - Bio-Phos + Mycoroot (seedling) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seedling) - Solo Cup + Freedom Farms soil + Mycoroot -Transplant in week 2 of veg to 40l ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Veg Stage) - initial inoculant 2ml Environoc Microbes -1ml per litre Environoc every 2 weeks -5ml per litre Molasses every 2 weeks -Stop Environoc 1 week into flower ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (Flower Stage) -3ml Bio-Phos every week (early flower) -5ml Bio-Phos every week (late flower) -5ml Molasses every 2 weeks -Stop Bio-Phos 2 weeks before harvest -Feed molasses until harvest ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pictures below include TH seeds - Orangesicle + Trainwreck (darker leaves) and a photo of Orangesicle during veg
  3. Hi everyone, I am currently looking to purchase an indoor setup for myself. Nothing fancy or big. Just enough to be a new hobby. I am always willing to invest in more stuff later, just dont have the money right now. So basically my budget is Around R5k. I am willing to go over, but anything lower is always preferred. I got a quote form MarijuanaSA and want a few opinions on it, or just a whole new quote for those that are willing to make one. It seems to have all the important items in it. I can buy a few items that do the same at lower prices, like on takealot. I am looking at 0.8x0.8 or a 1x1 tents. What would be better? I want to grow around 2 to 3 plants at a time. Then, I would really like a cheaper light to use but just cant seem to find a good option that is less than 1k... So basically, I am asking for assistance in selecting all the basic items for my first ever indoor grow. Whatever saves me the most money and gives me enough items to get away for at least 2 harvests before investing more. I already have soil and pots from my outdoor plants. Any help will really be appreciated as I barely know what I am buying with indoor growing equipment. I have a small list of just a few items that I am putting together to use as a purchasing guide. Here it is for a general idea of what im currently looking at:
  4. Hello all. So I have decided to start an indoor grow. Here's a list of items that I've obtained: 1x veg/clone/mother tent (1.2mx0.6mx1.8m) 1x flowering tent (1.2mx1.2mx2m) 6" and 8" extractor fans 6" and 8" carbon filters 480 watt led grow bars (3500k) (flowering light) Pots, PH meter, Propogation chamber etc etc I know I've left out alot of the finer details but this thread is rather in finding perfect vegging lights. Assuming I have a strain that flowers for 8 weeks, i would like to vegetate for 8 weeks if possible (or less). The lights I'm looking to get to veg from clone are Eurolux LED Grow tubes 9w (2ft). I want to spread out about 14 of them staggered in the 1.2mx0.6m tent. Thats 14x9 watts for roughly 4-8 plants (126 watts). The lights will be able to be lowered etc. Would the weak vegetating light and then extremely strong flowering light make a huge impact on the plants? Maybe when putting them in flowering I will gradually increase the wattage over a week to 480watts? Anyone have experience using those tubes?
  5. Good morning growers. Currently have two plants vegging in my indoor setup and I noticed this morning my one plants is start to show pistils?? The light cycle has has been on 18/6 since seedling and hasn't changed since. Was wondering why one of the plants is showing pistils while it's under veg? I thought pistils only come once u flip to flower under 12/12 cycle. Not very happy because I wanted to still veg out the plants for longer and recently just topped them. If anyone can give an explanation that would be great. Plants have been happy the entire time with no deficiances, problems or stress. I would say it's been a perfect grow so far. And they are photo periods not autoflowers. Is it possible for the plant to shoot pistils and show its sex while still in veg?? Or is it guaranteed flipped. Thanks guys would appreciate your knowledge on this topic
  6. I have a lot of loose seeds from over the few years plus a handful of seeds that I recently purchased off BnB. I am going to germinate all 15 of them and take the 12 best looking ones [or at least the 12 that survive] and pop them into 20L fabric pots with Gold Label 70/30 Coco/Perlite that I just recently discovered. The strains going into the gauntlet are: Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds x3 Criminal+ - Ripper Seeds x3 Royal Gorilla - Royal Queen Seeds x1 Aurora Indica - Nirvana Seeds x4 Jock Horror - Nirvana Seeds x2 Grand Daddy Purple - Green Smoke Room Seeds x2 Seed drop 2 October 2020 Light cycle flip 17 November 2020 Harvest dates: 1x Criminal +: 14 January 2021 1 x Grand Daddy Purple: 14 January 2021 Everything else: 17-18 January 2021 Flowering times will not be a concern as I have a spare tent that will be used just as a drying tent. I also don't plan on cloning anything yet. When I am done with this bunch I want to decide on a regular seed strain, find a mother and really dedicate to that strain for a while, whatever it may be. So far we got some live ones popping up, the first 12 at least.. I'll update again when I've chosen and potted the Mighty 12.
  7. Hey Growmies, So I've stopped the autos for now and cleared out my grow space. I've been vegging a slurricane clone and a tart pops clone that will get all of my attention now. Flipped to 12/12 light cycle on 7/01/2021 and watered at pH 6.4. Medium - Orgasoilux living soil Nutrients - biobizz grow, biobizz bloom, molasses, banana and mango FFJ Lights - QB75 and QB130 from @growopz Each in 20litre fabric pot
  8. Aweh, So my leaves are going light green and bottom fan leaves are turning yellow. Is this normal during flower? I know fade is normal but I'm not sure on leaves going full yellow and dying out. I'm going into week 7 of flower tomorrow. First photo period plant in flower so I'm new to this whole process.
  9. Hey Fellow Growers, I've started a new grow recently and I'll be posted updates here. 2x Quarter Pounder Autos (3 day germination, planted 4/10/2020) 1x Slurricane clone (Not sure about the age) Not yet added: 2x Do-si-dos photoperiod (I'll germinate these when the autos go into flower so that I can flip them after I harvest the autos) Lighting - 130 watt LED quantum board 3500k from @growopz . I'll add my QB75 when they start to flower. Medium - Orgasoilux organic living earth blend. Nutes - Biobizz grow, seagro, molasses, biobizz bloom.
  10. Hello Growers May be a stupid question, but is it possible for an exhaust fan to be too powerful for an indoor setup. A year ago when I started growing indoors I had an exhaust fan in the top of my 2x2 grow tent. For the first few grow attempts my plants were unhappy and yellowing and no idea why, I looked at my soil, my water, basically everything that could cause this problem but absolutely nothing I did fixed the problem. I tried many different thing yet I got the same result. It wasn't until I decided to turn off my exhaust fan and only leave a normal oscillating fan outside bottom of my tent to push air through the intake vents therefore forcing the air out the top hole where the exhaust fan was. Since then all my problems were resolved. I was extremely confused as I always thought the more airflow the better right? Outside in nature there's so much wind and constant airflow I would never assume that was the problem. Would like to know if anyone could give advice on why this is? Am I crazy? Is there such a thing as too much airflow, or too much negative pressure in the tent not allowing the plants to "breathe" because theres just too much airflow? Sorry if this sounds extremely stupid. Just very curious. Because since I turned off the exhaust all my problems disappeared. Was thinking about turning on the exhaust again because I need to exhaust the hot air building up from the lights. I don't have a speed controller on my exhaust fan. Basically would just like to know if there is such a thing as too much constant airflow in the tent. My bottom fan is oscillating so it gives a few seconds of rest for the air intake into the tent. Thanks guys
  11. Hello growers Would love some advice from an experienced indoor grower. For the past year I have been growing cannabis indoors using a Mars Hydro tent ( 80cm x 80cm x 160cm) with the mars hydro 48 reflector led light. ( bought the combo and light is 100w blurple led) I've gotten good grows however I felt like I wasn't getting enough light coverage and intensity during the later phases of my growth. Recently I bought myself a 120w quantum board, which has a HLG meanwell driver and Samsung lm301h diodes. There is also a dimmer attached to the quantum board. I would like to know if I should start off the grow with both lights on? Or should I start off the grow with the mars hydro and then turn on the quantum board when the plant hits veg stage. Was thinking of starting off the grow with both lights on (Mars hydro 48 reflector + 120w quantum board) and dimming the quantum board to around 50%. Would really like some advice, not sure if I should be dimming the quantum board at all? Am I safe to run both lights at full strength? Should I only go full strength with the 120w quantum board for flowering? Please help P. S with regards to distance of both lights, they are maxed out at the top of the grow tent and I can't raise them anymore. Plan on growing one single photo period and vegging it out to fill the tent before flipping to flower. Will include photos of lights and tent Thanks guys happy growing
  12. Sjo howzit. I'm ready to share what I've been up to since the last grow. Right from the get-go, I know this setup has flaws. I've got two different kinds of lights, three different strains and two different growing methods. I'd like to say this is on purpose but honestly it just kinda happened. Somewhere between an upgrade and circumstance I've now ended up here. I've decided I am going to do one last hoorah with DWC, going back to my roots from when I first began growing and also use the HID lamps I've had tucked away since acquiring my LED. I really like DWC, it's hellah fun and technical. I just love the amount of control you have with it. However I really want to do a serious ScrOG attempt next and the last time I did a ScrOG it was with DWC and couldn't even finish that grow If not DWC with a ScrOG, what medium to use then? I've never grown in a solid medium before so I'd have to learn soil/coco. So I decided to throw in a couple plants in Freedom Farms Premium Classic and have them grow in the space I had left in my tent aside from the DWC setups, so that I am not a complete n00b when I do the ScrOG. Did I mention I got a bigger tent? I am now rocking a 1.2x2.4x2.05 meter tent and oh boy, I think a ScrOG will do just super.. but that's next time. Why waste time and not just do the ScrOG now? Well, I've got some very nice seeds on the way (enough time for another grow) and I'd like to create a mother from that pack of seeds and then use clones from the mother to fill the ScrOG. I also do not feel like my previous DWC grow was very good either, so I want to get a solid one in before dumping the buckets. The plan is to do 4 DWC cooler boxes, same design as before. They will have 250W MH to veg and 400W HPS to flower. The ladies in the DWC will be mainlined into 8 queen colas each and I am going to be extremely aggressive on the defoliation. No kak cheap branches this time with poopy airy buds. I want 24 thicc and solid queen colas that look like the Grinch took a shit on my desk.. multiple times. After setting up the 4 DWC systems I couldn't help but notice that I had a third of my tent unused. I had already gotten a few extra things to expand my HID lamp setup to accommodate the increase in DWC buckets and number of plants, so I don't want to invest in more HID power. I want to keep the power below 1000W in the tent, I don't think anything more is necessary for what I'm doing. Although I have my 250W LED still, so I decided to just throw that into the tent in the unoccupied space and do two plants of the same strain in soil to learn the ropes. The two plants in soil turned into five plants.. during the propagation stage one seed didn't pop, so I decided to pop more seeds to compensate and got a little paranoid and decided to pop more than necessary in case some didn't germinate.. they all germinated. So now I have five plants in soil, 4 of which are the same strain, 1 is a very long flowering strain. Once again I have done this to myself, putting different strains with different flowering times in the same tent. But mama didn't raise no simp so imma let them finish as is. But bro why not use the 80x80x180 tent you have sitting empty now? It's way too cold to veg under LED and no heating. The beauty of HID lamps in Winter is that you get your photons and a comfortable temperature in your tent all in one! So I've just put the soil plants under the LED in the same tent so they can share the heat. I did however add a small heater with a Sonof switch just to help the temp with the dips at night and these wacky cold fronts. Also because of the different flowering times I can then use this smaller tent as a drying tent as a harvest. Even better, if the 5 soil plants get too big in their corner I can just take a few outside to flower Strains! DWC: Pink Mango Gelato - Green Smoke Room Seeds Soil: Aurora Indica (1) - Nirvana Seeds Skywalker OG (4) - Nirvana Seeds
  13. Greetings 420 Fam! Decided to grow again due to being stuck at home so I thought I'd share what's going on with you guys. So I've been growing these 2 strains since about the last week of March. They are; Black Fire & Inzane in the Membrane, both by Ethos Genetics. I started the grow long before I became a member here so if you guys want to check it out, I have a link to the journal to catch up so far, and links to previous grows that you'll find in the grow reports as well. I'll try to update progress on here as often as I can. Anyway, I transplanted them into 5L smart pots for vegging on the 6th of April and watered them (no nutes) shortly after the transplant. The water was at 66 ppm with a pH ~6.25. They didn't seem to experience any obvious transplant shock and it's all going smoothly so far. These trees are 3 days into their 5th week of vegging (excl seedling stage - very 1st week) They've received 2 sets of toppings and growth from the 1st node was removed - I'm manifolding these trees also using some skewers and soft tie wire to train them flat. Each tree has about 8-12 main tops right now but it's a bit untidy - they're due for a defoliation later today. Feeding strengths have been around 500pm for early veg and I'm increasing it to around 700ppm for the next week of veg before flipping to 12/12. The Inzane (om the right) seems to be outgrowing her company but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, I can always prop one plant up if needed. Will run 2 of the same strains next time to use the space more effectively. The last picture is a few days older but it gives you a more clear view of how I used the skewers to train the trees. Questions and suggestions are welcomed. Enjoy!
  14. Hi there so I’m on week 5 of my flower cycle. Watering when necessary and keeping humidity between 40-50 and fighting to keep the temperature below 26 noticing this on one of the bud leaves. Not sure what it is? Thx in advance Alby
  15. So it begins. Seeds in PH6 water for a soak. Rockwool plugs soaking in PH6 water for tomorrow. 1 x Pineapple Express (Auto) 2 x Blue cheese (Auto) 3 x Mazar (Auto)
  16. Hey all Found these quantum boards locally. They priced at R1200 each. They advertised as having Samsung LEDs. Anyone have experience with these QBs. If it's a good deal I can share supplier contact details. Thanks in advance.
  17. Hi everyone I wish you all well today. so I have just completed my first grow I’m still pretty noob and I grew in potting soil mixed with bonemeal and fed moderate amounts of seagro most of the until closer to the end as I could now see the bonemeal burning them. I never used any flowering nutrients thinking the bonemeal would provide enough of the P, I wasn’t happy with the bud sizes ( I’ll post a pic ) I saw some EHG nutrients on growguru site it sounds ‘ amazing ‘ as most are trying to market there product but before I go ahead and purchase the A, B, micro kit I would like everyone’s opinions on the matter, I’ll be using it in coco only grow next ( I’m revenging the same plant, time wreck) and putting it in a scrog this time, but after that I want to do DWC so would it be possible for those nutes to cover me through a coco and dwc grow ? Incase this info is relevant I’m using 10x 15w LED bulbs @2700k 1520 lumens each. thanks ! ps I posted a pic of the nutes im referring to, aswell as a few bud shots
  18. PHello Canna Fam. Here looking for advice, 1st time indoor grower. Have experience with outdoors. I want to set up a grow room that is 2m by 2m. With about 6 to 8 plants in there or can I put more. Not too small. The question is , how much do I need? Looking at buying HPS 600W. Would one cover for all stages of growing? Also I want to feed organically? What experience has those who have tried it, gotten? How does one generate CO2 ,cheaply?
  19. Hi fellow grower, Seem like winter is approaching Cape Town early this year. So this will be my first winter grow. I got away without any cooling in summer, anyone done an indoor grow in winter without heating? what was you room temp and humidity? Looking at the yearly climate in CT LINK lowest temps are in July with a min of 11 degree. Also a question on my mind that I can't find answers to is what about if you only heat the water reservoir?
  20. Hey guys, Going to start with a disclaimer. I'm growing for personal use, I do not sell what I harvest and do not intend to do so in the future. I have a outside pool pump room, yes you guessed it, it's where the pool pump lives The room is about 2.5 x 3.5 with vibecrete walls and a zink roof with no ceiling. Started off quite dirty but with some TLC and help from the wife we turned it into a space I think would work nicely for a small grow. Light is a 240 QB from GrowOpz: https://growopz.com/products/qb-240-dimmable-quantum-board-v2 Plants are a Vision Auto and Jack Herer from SeedsMan.com, was outside for a month basically but due to bad medium I decided to start with them and reported them in two 10L Freedom pots with Freedom Farms Premium Classic potting medium. I know repotting the auto was a bad idea but he was going nowhere outside. Nutrients I'm going with BioBizz Grow and Bloom, 2ml per liter Grow per watering. I have a fan in the corner on 1 blowing gently and oscillating towards the two plants, I hope this is fine? Light cycle on 20 / 4 for now with QB at about 80cm above the plants, thinking I should drop it a bit to 60cm? Please see pictures of the before and after project. I would appreciate any advice or comments. Thanx. Before: After:

Transplanted to 10l Moved to veg tent Still looked quite pissed off with me at this point and where we stand today Remo was a clone gifted to me, sadly came with signs of mites so she went into quarantine and pyrol torture for a week or two. she has recovered nicely and is starting to show some good growth. Below pic on arrival after first pyrol treatment Remo a substantially happier plant
  22. Hi, this plant is 3 1/2 weeks in flowering Is it possible to identify the strain already or is it to early. Would like to know the strain. This is my first grow and is indoors. Thanks, Jacques
  23. Howdy folks, first post here, been lurking for a bit, not really one for introducing myself and also haven't been on a local grow forum since BelowTheLion had a grow forum...so.....eh...howzit. Recently run into some issues with root aphids, so thought it appropriate to communicate with local communities in order to see what methods people have used in the past to treat infestations, as well as share my experiences. * Currently Day 25 of Flower at posting(11/04/2019) Setup: Mars Grow Tent(Total Grow Space - 2.4mx1.2mx2m) 1 x Extractor(700m3/hr - 11.67m3/minute) - Negative Pressure 600w HID(Sunmaster - Dual Spectrum [Flowering Period Only]) 2 x 45l D.W.C Reservoirs 2 Plants per res.(125mm Net Pots with Hydrotron/LECA) ScroGged(Utilised Grow Space - 1mx1.4m) Strain: 4 x Green House Seed Co. A.M.S.(Identical Cuts) Preface: For the record, I had some how allowed myself to be fooled by the idea that subterranean pests wouldn't really be a factor in hydroponics, especially Deep Water Culture, but boy was i mistaken, so please, don't fool yourselves with this idea guys. If anything, in my resulting opinion, the hydroponic environment can actually be more conducive to certain pests growth when comapred with its media/soil counterparts, however, on the flip side, much like dealing with nutrient burns or P.H. issues, hydroponic systems have a greater potential for fast recover.(*Provided you are able to identify the issue/infestation early enough.) In hind sight, I can easily say that the first sign of my infestation actually started showing a little over a week ago, however I would only come to realise this 3 days ago. It started with me waking up to finding a mass of dead fliers on my tent floor, which I had simply assumed were just miggies trying to get to my light and moved on, however I would soon realise that these were actually the winged adults of an aphid infestation. I only realised the true issue when it came to nute change time, which is when I discovered a rather established Root Aphid infestation when going to siphon my reservoirs. *This is when Hydrogen Peroxide(H2O2) becomes your next best friend. Treatment: Day 1: Sprayed with Ludwigs Insect Spray +. Flushed reservoirs with fresh water and tried to physically remove and wash off any visible aphids as much as possible. Filled reservoirs with P.H. balanced water and added 12ml(30% H2O2[Clicks - 30 Vol.]) per resivour. Only water/circulation pump running - aeration turned off to potentially try reduce H2O2 reduction to H2O. Day 2: Sprayed with Ludwigs Insect Spray +. Added 5ml(30% H2O2[Clicks - 30 Vol.]) to each reservoir. Day 3: Flushed reservoirs with fresh water and tried to physically remove and wash off any visible aphid debris as much as possible - can clearly see that the infestation is not thriving like it was. Added normal flowering nute mix Aerators back on(*System to run as normal) I definitely feel that my initial knock of the infestation has been successful, however it is crucial that I ensure that I keep on top of this infestation by inspecting my rootzone multiple times a day when possible as well as spraying Ludwigs Insect Spray + to ensure that any crawling/flying aphids are exterminated and unable to continue their life cycle.(I have had great success with Ludwigs Insect Spray + for canopy/foliage pests). If I see any signs of the root aphids getting a grip again, I will repeat the steps from day 1 and 2(H2O2 Volume to be determined). *Yellow fly paper would also be extremely beneficial at reducing winged flier survival success rate *It is crucial that anyone reading this post realises that these are my experiences with a Deep Water Culture Hydroponic system, and that if you encounter root aphids in a soil-type medium, H2O2 will destroy any organic organisms in your medium, if at a strong enough concentration, beneficial organism or not. Ensure that you consider this and research accordingly before taking this as word. *Please also realise that the effects of root aphids will most likely show as a nutrient deficiency first, unless the rootzone infestation is noticed before hand by the grower. Any experiences or input would be much appreciated - substantiated or opinionated <3.
