  1. This is how I built an overpowered light worth $2500+ on the market for only $850. All currency is CAD. *BEFORE STARTING* Watch the 6 part growmau5 series to learn the wiring: For the grounding plug: Technical: 4x Hlg 185H 700ma in series drivers (i suggest you buy the newer 240H model) $250 40x 5000K $350 7x 3000K $25 (You can use less I used way too many) All are bridgelux Gen 3/ C3 (Make sure theyre all plug in only dont mess around with the solder ones unless you have 100+hours experience in soldering) The 3000k ones I used were soulder onlys. Lost a couple due to human error Total Cost (TC): $575 Frame: (Choose a better material for frame, I used wood composite because I was lazy) (I would think aluminum would be the best material but all have their pros and cons) Wood composite 2x2ft v Matching plastic 2x2ft (painting frame) $50? Thermal tape (sized to the width of the led bars) $20 TC: $70-100 Electric: 100’ length 20guage solid core wire $60 50 pack 2 wire wagos 221 $25 4x plastic junction boxes 4inch x 4inch x 3inch (make sure it comes with something to plug up the holes and hold the wire)$40 500 assorted pack heatshrink tubing $20 (good to help fit in junction box) 4x Leviton 515PV 15Amp 125Volt grounding plug $20 25’ 16guage wire (for the grounding plug) $20 TC:$165-Everything is super flexible here just make sure your amps and volt calculations are solid. -Dedicated extra fans (required): With 2 medium fans running on the light, and another 2 small fans running on the drivers everything is 20C-25C. SETTING UP THE DIMMERS (Very easy if you do it like i did in these pictures) All you need is: •100k potentiometers (maybe an ohm meter if you want to make sure ur dimmers go all the way to 100, most dont they go to like 92 or 97) •20 guage wire (same as the led strips) •Plastic junction box (make sure its got rubber wire holders that you cut a hole through with scissors and put the wire/ potentiometer through) •211 Wago wire connector •soldering machine (temperature is dependant on what kind of solder you use) $25 • silver solder (find a lower temp soldering machine ~360f for silver) $20 (This light is truly 800w if you use the exact parts, if you use more or less drivers and led strips or different brands then the wattage can vary from 600-1000, materials are very flexible just try to make sure volt/amp calculations are correct) (Always be cautious with electricity, build this whole thing without being plugged in to any wall outlet/power source️)
  2. Budwizer

    DIY QB

These are my DIY QB lights I can run them full power with no issues. Quite expensive to build, but I like the reliability of passive cooling.
  3. So thought I would start a new grow diary. I have abit of a mixed bag with autos and photos, but the autos will be moved outdoors as time goes (turns out my landlord is cool with me growing). On the left is Mexican Airlines and C4 from Fastbuds. Then on the right is Banana Daddy and Zour Apples. I am growing in the same 30L Organics Matters soil from my last grow as i never had cash for new dirt, i will wait and see if any problems arise. The Ethos ladies will be mainlined to 8 mains each while the Fastbuds girls might see some LST if required but i plan to let them grow free. All of them will be getting Biobizz Fish mix, Bloom, Grow and Topmax. I hacked up my light so I could move it around for better coverage. I really do need to invest in some proper lighting.
  4. Howzit guys I started this adventure trying to find the cheapest and simplest way to grow some good bud. Unfortunatly from my personal experience. There isint really a cheap way. If you dont want to be frustrated and and have issues all the time and have a successfull grow to be proud of. U need to spend a decent amount of cash. Enjoy. . . Germination So i germinated 1 banana monkey seed from biltong and budz. Thursday night(9-07-2020) 13 hours in a shot glass. Then moved to a paper towel. And a plastic bag and left in darkness near my modem for warmth.(10-07-2020) .Until a taproot was visible. 5. Greetings 420 fam So as promised, here it is. For anyone that's growing and hand-watering their plants, this is for you guys. This is a simple project that I've completed in minimal time while sitting at home trying to make life easier, lol. For those who want one, but don't have the resources or time to make their own, I am willing to make the kits by order (excluding the container) and make them available for purchase in the classifieds section - which is why I've decided to exclude the pricing list. They will be cheap though, no worries. I hope you guys understand, just trying to make some extra moola during this lockdown. Anyway, enough of that. Let's get into it[emoji41] What you will need: - 5mm PVC tubing (I got 3m to be safe but it can be done with a shorter length of tubing) - An adequately durable and sharp scissor - 5 x 5mm screw/barb adapters - 1 x 5mm micro tee - 1 x 5mm micro choke - 2 x 5mm regular adapters - 1 x 10L plastic container w/tap - Hot glue gun (we gonna use a really small amount of glue) - at least 2 x small cable tie straps Now that we've got that out of the way, here's the build. Creating The Main Ring - At the base of your tree, use an end of the PVC tubing and hold it in a loop around the main stem, creating a circle of the diameter you would like. Use the scissor to cut the desired length of tubing. - Insert the micro tee into an end of the tubing and close the loop Making it into a Drip Ring - Cut out/poke 5 holes spaced out well on 1 side of the tubing that are slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw/barb. - Shorten the screw side of the screw/barb adapter so that it doesn't damage the opposite inner wall of the tubing once it's screwed in securely. - Use the screw side of the adapter and try to push it into the gap you've created while you rotate the adapter to catch thread. Screw the adapter in until the plastic base is flush with the tubing. Do this for all the holes you created. The plumbing - Cut a length of tubing a bit longer than the distance from the center of where your pot will be to the corner of your tent. - Connect one end of the tubing to the choke valve and the other end to the micro tee on the drip ring you've just created. - Cut a length of tubing long enough to reach where you're going to place your container/res. - Attach one end f this tube to the free end of the choke valve. The installation - Use one of the cable tie's to secure the tubing to the grow tent pipe slightly higher than the level of the drip ring on the soil. - Strap another cable tie just above that, securing the choke valve and holding the tubing much more securely. - Open one end of the drip ring and place it around the base of your plant than reconnect the tubing. You can face the drippers upwards or into the soil, I went with upwards so i can notice any flow issues. We're almost there! Just a few things left. The Res I know this isn't a traditional res in growing terms, but its function is definitive. - Cut one side of the regular adapters off at the base as shown below. - Place the modified adapter at the outlet of the tap as shown and hot glue it into place effectively, not leaving any gaps. This is so that your precious nutes don't drip all over the floor once you open the tap. *Be careful not to cover the barb of the adapter that's sticking out with glue or else you will have trouble with the next step* - Cut off a short length from the free end of the PVC tubing and attach a regular adapter to one end, then attach this piece to the adapter sticking out of the tap. - Mix your nutes, fill the res (please make sure the tap is closed, lol) and place it somewhere higher than the choke valve. - Attach the free end of the PVC tubing to the adapter pipe on the res (this is the pipe and point at which you will connect and disconnect when using and storing the system to prevent breaking the tap adapter). *The higher you have the res, the more force the water will flow with* Adjust your flow - Open the choke valve the so that it barely lets anything through, then open the tap on your res (open the res tap slowly to prevent anything blowing out due to the sudden change in pressure) *Check For Leaks At This Step* - Adjust the choke until the nutrient mix has a slow, steady flow out of all the nozzles. This is subjective though so set it however suits you the best. Just like that... Boom, your very own semi-automatic watering system. The only issue with this prototype design is that the res doesn't completely empty due to its shape (a major part of the reason I'm leaving it out of the kit), but there are ways to solve this. I plan to make a commercial version available once I find a decent shaped res with a siphon pipe to ease flow and empty the res. I'm also in the process of designing another (pressurized) system so the res can be kept on the floor along with some other improvements. Send me a private message for any questions or orders.
  6. After a very successful outdoor DWC grow last season, i'm going to copy my setup, take it indoors, and run them under a High Spec Samsung LED Quantum Bar setup. I wanted to steer away from using grow tents, and i'm fortunate enough to have some extra room in the garage. So decided to build my very own Grow Room. The garage is exactly 3 meters wide and the ceiling in 2,4 meters high. After weighing up many many options, I designed the following. A simple wood frame made from 22mm x 44mm pine planks and then skin the frame with Masonite Hardwood sheets https://www.boardmaster.co.za/pc-prime-coat-masonite.html End result came out fantastic and the Masonite boards are so easy to work with, the are probably a third of the weight of Rhino Board, and it comes with a white side as standard. So even bigger bonus. End result..... Simple, straight forward, and very easy to build with only a handful of tools. The floor space inside the room is exactly 3,0m x 1,3m I will just be growing on one half of the room, whilst the other half is work area and clones. The light fixture is a 320W Quantum Board 3-bar design from https://www.onlinegrowshop.co.za/ and its powered by a Meanwell HLG driver. The main reason i decided to go for a Quantum Bar instead of a Quantum board is the more uniform coverage the the Quantum Bars offer. Dimensions of the light: The bars are 1100mm long And the frame is 900mm wide Makes for a perfect fit for my grow area. As mentioned above im going to be doing DWC in individual 25L plastic buckets with and central air pump providing continuous oxygen to each bucket. I will be growing 5x Blue Kush seeds from Dynafem and also managed to score a free Cresendo cutting from a friend. Seedling are 2 weeks old and looking very happy in their "Jacuzzis"
  7. Hi - I have a small space (shower cubicle) not used 1.2m x 1.2m. I will line the inside walls with reflective mylar. I'm on a tight budget so I'm currently researching my options regarding led lighting. As you know this is the most expensive part. It seems possible to construct a LED light source with these LED cobs fairly easily so I'm wondering how many of these cobs will I need per plant if I have 1 or 2 plants in a small space like that. The cobs are full spectrum LED 50w from https://m.lightinthebox.com/en/p/1pc-cob-new-design-creative-led-grow-bulb-cob-chip-aluminum-for-diy-plant-flower-seeding-light-50-w_p6747851.html?prm=1-2.2.1.1&from_cid=52653 Thank you
