  1. Morning folks. Day 58 of flower and I am not really seeing the buds fattening up as nicely as I would like. Trichome development on most of the ladies looks epic but rather perplexed as to the size of the buds. Might have been the cold as my grow is not temperature controlled. Or it might be the reasons noted below... This whole growing thing is a never ending learning curve and I got schooled on this grow as well. 3 things I will have to adjust with the next grow. - defoliate, defoliate, defoliate. Too many bud sites/nodes covered with growth stealing energy from the mains. @Prom thanx for the heads up. - veg the plants longer to establish distinct mains and allowing for better defoliation. Shout out to @PsyCLown and @ORGANinc. for picking up on that - soil got too compact due to too many top ups. I think that might have inadvertently limited root growth and expansion. Well lessons learnt and probably a lot more to learn as we move along. I also think I might have gotten a slight overwatering issue with the Bubblegum, she doesn't drink that much... Still got 2 odd weeks to go so let's hope for some fat nugs coming to the party... P.S Garden of Green - GSC what a waste of space... 2. Another quick update on the plants further into flower. I have staked all of them and did a heavy defol, see how it turns out. The stacking is coming along nicely - especially for some of the in house strains and compared to my previous run with them. I need to finish adding the rest of the lights to the tent though, you can see it is dark behind the plants but the camera just makes it seem worse than it is, all plants are still receiving sufficient light PPFD. For anyone wondering, those stakes are 1.4 and I pushed it as far down into the coco as I could. So around 1.4m from the ground - not from the top of the coco.

  4. Update: Thursday 29th July. 4 weeks into flower. I've seen a huge push from all the ladies. Main cola's have definitely overtaken their counterparts. I'm seeing a slight purple color on the pistils of T3. T1 T2 Full tent shot

  6. Closing off this thread. 8 weeks, 5 weeks since pollination, and the girls got the chop, hanging to dry. While #1 certainly is the frostiest, she has a dirty gassy tone to her terpene profile, I bet she will smoke well. It is #6 that has the ice-cream terpene profile I'm after. She is also a yielder, while #2 has a dominant sour lemon vibe. Let's see how they turn out when dry. Looking forward to working with the F2s as soon as the seeds are dry in what is going to be an extensive hunt. Didn't really take any pics... Seeded bud isn't really photogenic This is #6 And just for the hell of it, a clone taken from #1, day 22 of flower, and already pollinated.... Not only rooted, but is developing seeds and starting her reveg process That concludes my first project for the year.

  7. @John Stonedwell Based on my experience, with the frosty stuff I have grown so far - bud size seems to be something which is affected. Get tons of frost, but bud size and yield seems to take a bit of a knock unfortunately. Defoliationg helps, everyone has a different degree to which they are comfortable with. I say on your next grow, try multiple methods on the same strain (or cut) and see how it goes. Strip the one plant literally bare just before you put it into flower and see how it bounces back and create a lot of extra nodes, leaves and colas during the pre-flower phase and then do another defol after that (around 3 weeks after putting them into flower). So far, yield does not seem to be affected in a negative way and helps open everything up nicely for better light penetration on the bud as well as better air circulation. Buds which do not get direct light often seem to be lighter in colour and not look as good. You can take a look at my current grow diary to get an idea of what I do, try it at least once. Try removing different amounts and see what works best, it may vary between strains as well. I do defoliate quite a lot heavier than most from what I have noticed, trying different levels on the frosty in house stuff as well to see how they respond. Looking great though, a bit of burn on the Palamino though on the tips of the leaves. Bubblegum looks to be clawing a little as well. I like to taper off on the nute strength towards the end of flower as I do not flush and the nutes can build up in the medium over time. So towards the end I start to drop the strength a bit to help avoid the crispy leaves towards the end of flower. I do not stop feeding altogether and I do not drop it drastically, 10% to 30% reduction in strength can make a big difference even.

  8. You should always look at who funded the research. There is allot of money to be lost in this business of fertilizer. The only thing I will say is that plants evolve along side the microbes and both play there part in this symbiotic relationship. Why fuck with nature?

  10. Without a doubt, the timeline most breeders give is not accurate. You do get strains which have amber in 8 to 9 weeks from flipping to 12 / 12 but not all that common. One thing to keep in mind is the pheno variation as well in a pack of seeds, this can lead to the difference as well as some breeders just stating a shorter flowering time to make the strain seem more appealing. Differences in how people refer to the stages the plants life or when they start counting can contribute towards the variation as well. In this forum it seems majority refer to flower and start counting from day 1 on the day the lights are changed to 12 / 12. I do this myself, however the first 3 weeks of this I refer to as the pre-flowering phase and after that comes the actual flowering phase. Some may separate the two and reference the flowering phase (after the stretch / pre-flowering) as the time. Take the breeders guideline with a pinch of a salt, to be on the safe side add around 2 weeks to their timeline to prevent unhappiness from expecting a short flowering strain and having to wait longer to harvest. Exact same applies to autoflowers, if anything the timelines given on autoflowers is often far more inaccurate compared to the photoperiod flowering timelines. I feel 10 weeks of flower is average. Shorter than 10 weeks is a plant which flowers quickly. Longer than 10 weeks is a plant which takes it's time to flower. The other difference is under what conditions do people consider a plant ready to harvest? Some might like all cloudy with little to no amber and others want it as amber as possible. Would be great if it could be standardized, however it is simply a guideline and one which should be taken with a pinch of salt

  12. I concur. I just use the breeder time frames as guidelines as they mostly wanna sell shit that "flowers quickly" but in reality that is far from an accurate representation. I sometimes wonder whether the breeder counts pistil development as the start of flower or the flip to 12/12. I also check the trichome and most of my plants go over breeder guideline. Some even up to 2 weeks over the guideline. Especially when they say 8 week flower..

  13. Will likely recover from that too - end up with a nice, strong stem after all of this abuse

  14. To be honest.....I wouldn't even flip yet. They're on a roll now.. let them grow. You have plenty more space to fill there. Top the one at the back and only worry about cleaning them when there are alot more leaves. Leave them for another week.....or two. Promise you won't regret it.

  16. Honestly for many many years i always told everyone the real reason why cannabis was illegal was because if it had to be completely legal than tobacco sells would go down. Im always doing research on cannabis and today I came across a very interesting article title. It read: "The UK's largest tobacco firm says it sees cannabis as part of its future as it tries to move away from selling traditional cigarettes" WAIT WHAAAAT?! A tobacco company tryna move away from selling...well tobacco?? I wonder what the packaging would look like The article further reads: British American Tobacco said it wanted to "accelerate" its transformation by reducing the health impact of its products. In March, BAT took a stake in Canadian medical cannabis maker Organigram. It also signed a deal to research a new range of adult cannabis products, initially focused on cannabidiol (CBD). "As we think about our portfolio for the future, certainly beyond nicotine products are interesting for us as another wave of future growth," BAT executive Kingsley Wheaton told Radio 4's Today Programme. Mr Wheaton, BAT's chief marketing officer, said it saw cannabis related products as part of its future growth. The firm is currently trialling a CBD vape product in Manchester. "I think [CBD vaping] is part of the future, but the present challenge is reduced harm in tobacco and nicotine alternatives, encouraging people to switch." "Marlboro maker could stop selling cigarettes in UK" Releasing its half year results to the end of June, the tobacco giant reported an 8.1% rise in revenues to Β£12.18bn. It said more than a third of its UK revenues now come from vaping brands such as Vuse, Velo and glo. The tobacco giant also saw its fastest gain in new customers, with users of non-combustible products - such as vapes - jumping 2.6 million to 16.1 million. 'The balance has decisively shifted' Big tobacco companies have tried to ride two horses in their communications to investors over the past decade. They have drawn attention to their efforts to get away from nasty cigarettes, while at the same time pointing to the big dividend payments the sales of those cigarettes support. That balance has now decisively shifted - in the companies' communications anyway - to the former. First Philip Morris International and now BAT have gone all out to stress their move into new types of less harmful products - vaping, heated rather than combusted tobacco, and, in BAT's case, cannabis. Progress is being made. BAT's results for the six months to the end of June show that sales of "new category" products grew by half to Β£942m. That is still a fraction of its total Β£12bn in revenue. Cigarette volumes - BAT sold 316 billion cigarettes in the six-month period - actually grew slightly thanks to a recovery in demand in emerging markets. Even though traditional tobacco remains by far its biggest business, the company says it is committed to change, pledging that "ESG (environmental, social and governance issues) is at the core of our strategy." It is hardly surprising that BAT wants to drape itself in the ESG flag. A recent piece of research by the accountancy firm PWC noted the rapid influx of shareholder money into ESG funds, ones that will only invest in companies with the right ethical credentials. It thinks that their combined value will be greater than all other types of funds within three years. BAT's share price has roughly halved in the past four years, from Β£55 to Β£27. The ability to tempt some of those ESG funds back into owning BAT shares might to do something to restore that flagging price. Tobacco sales recover Despite its commitment to healthier choices, BAT said sales of its cigarettes recovered in some developing nations following the end of coronavirus lockdowns when sales were banned in some countries. Sales of brands like Dunhill, Kent, Lucky Strike and Rothmans rose in the first half of the year in countries such as Brazil, Turkey and Pakistan. It said overall revenue from its combustibles division - cigarettes and heated tobacco products - fell 3% to Β£10.5bn. William Ryder, an equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said that there is still some way to go if the tobacco giant is to meet its target of Β£5bn in revenues from nicotine alternatives by 2025. "For now... BAT is still dependent on cigarettes... Traditional tobacco products still pay the dividend, and will do for some time," he said. REF: Article Source

  20. Everyone has a different way of doing their defol, I literally strip my plants bare before I flip. Remove anything from node 3 and below and put them straight into flower. Then around week 2 or 3 into flower, after a lot of the stretch has happened they're bushes again and another defol is required to open the canopy and allow the light to penetrate and shine on the buds. Doing this helps prevent fluff and skits, if you want the fluff and skits then keep a few more nodes when doing the defol.

  21. Hey hey, thank you brother. Yes of course, if the family would like to see, I will deliver gladly. Clean up, was water, mixed with Alcohol, Peroxide and a small bit of Neem that was in the spray bottle from the Neem mixed IPM bottle. Did this once, then let it dry and vacuumed, then once again an hour later, same all over again. All stuff in the room gets wiped 2 times. Different and new cloth each time.

  23. Update: Week 4.5 of flower Ok, quite a bit more happening in few days since the last photo @TotemicI cant see any light leaks... With my lights on full, and all other lights off I cant spot any signs of light coming out or under the tent. Ideally I'd climb in the tent and do it that way round too, but its a bit tricky with the raised floor. Perhaps I'll try make a plan this weekend. I've also check the timer and it seems to be working fine, no accidental on periods. And when I randomly check during the day its always off during the times I'd expect. I wont rule issues out completely, light can be sneaky. I'll keep looking, but nothing obvious at the moment

  25. Good old Jo. I wonder what he is up to. I believe bongalong has new owners? Sorry for opening up an old topic, but how is this for luck. Saw some smoke coming from a neighbours abandoned house, went to go investigate, not to sure who started the blaze, but threw some sand over it and was looking at all the trash that the mad mutt left lying around and guess what i found. A bongalong v1 in great condition. Thank you very much.

  26. Hi fellow growers . I know that breeders have mostly the perfect setup and know there shit , but I haven't as yet got milky thrichomes in the flowering time they suggest or claim. A 8 week strain takes me atleast 10week and then almost no amber except a few on sugar leaves , and a 9 week takes 11. My environment that I grow in is relatively close to what is considered good , not excellent. How many of you harvest and have milky/amber in the breeders timeframe ? 30. Thank you, I try to keep my tent to a standard that I would want my bud grown in if it was somewhere else, as I smoke and dont like to have issues through flowering, and found cleaning there isn't a shortcut. Have thought of bleach, but worried the cotton fibers and nylon might get damaged or lighter from it, and once your fibres get weak, you will be unzipping the tent and next thing you hear a rip, and its hanging loose in your hand, I'd not chance it with this quality of tent. Foggers are good, but leave a film behind, and that will be built on top of the dirt film on the tent already, so unfortunately you'll have to wipe it anyway, and bring me back to, no shortcuts.

  31. @The_StonedTrooper Props to you for cleaning your tent properly between grows. I must admit, I am terrible at this and want to try find a quicker, easier solution to getting down on my knees and wiping everything down. Your water "tray" still looks white, unlike mine... lol I've been toying with the idea of using a disinfectant fogger, although not sure how effective it would be against everything. However one can then simply just set it off in the tent, close everything and leave the fans on to help circulate it around the tent and even a bit in the room I guess. Also have you considered using bleach? I was also wondering what may be the best to use to clean my tents, if I had to get down on my knees with a cloth and thought bleach might work best as I think it would kill all spores, any possible stray pollen, eggs and even pests if there are any.

  41. Personally, I'm always going to want to feed the soil, and not the plant, whether outdoors in the ground or potted indoors. Let the plant establish its own symbiotic relationship with the soil. Synthetic fertilisers have tended to focus on solving one particular aspect, so growers end up with insane cocktails of stuff, over correcting here and under nourishing there. It's kind of why no-one has yet produced one medicine to solve all human health problems. It's too profitable to push multiple different drugs onto us. In the same vein, I don't know of any good all round synthetic fertiliser that can do everything that awesome soil can. But of course we are biased, being soil producers ourselves. The ultimate test is to examine the tissue structure of the plant, and the proof of the pudding is in the eating, or the smoking. When it comes to food, we can easily taste the difference between naturally grown food in awesome soil, and food grown with chemicals. Good soil is so complex that no-one has yet to completely understand all its aspects. We are learning everyday. 42. you cant think like that man haha... thats the same as saying ag why smoke weed when it comes out the ground... we must just smoke the ground rather then right? all the elements the plant uptakes are building blocks for the plant, and like @Marzcannasaid, elements are elements, doesnt matter if they are organic in nature, or manufactured. so as long as you are not burning your plants and have happy healthy plants... your bud will taste the same if not better

  43. @Autoflow3r I think you need to find a way to differentiate what you are offering from what is already available. Every grow is different, some have aircon some do not. Some have dehumidifiers, others do not. Aircons and dehumidifiers, you set to a specific temp or RH and it will run until it reaches that temp or RH and then try and maintain that. No automation required there really. To get something to integrate into these "dumb" devices may be a challenge as there are soo many different makes and models of aircons and dehumidifiers. If you are talking about extraction fans, well, AC Infinity have fans with nice controllers which will adjust the fan speed according to the temp or RH and can even give alarms. I know they have one controller with more functionality, not sure if this controller allows one to do so remotely though. Lots of home automation devices out there, like the Sonoff devices and others which can monitor the temp and RH and allow you to view it world wide and add triggers to turn items on / off if a certain situation is met. ie. If temperature is over 28C, then turn on Fan #1. Majority of these home automation devices will keep logs for you as well, I think on average upto 3 months and most tie into other systems and devices and one can even take it a step further and add cameras with facial recognition and door and window triggers and all sorts of other cool stuff. If you are driving your car, when you get to the garage it must open the garage door. If the wife is driving your car, it must not open the garage door - but this is going deep into home automation now and a little off topic. So, there are already products out there which do this, however there can still be a bit of separation at times. AC Infinity fan does not speak to the sonoff temp & RH device for example - but does it need to? A simpler fan might make more sense, allow it to be turned on / off based on temperatures however most have their extraction running 24/7 anyways. The other issue is cost, how much is it going to cost and how much benefit will growers get from it? Why should they use what you are offering over other products? Perhaps why use it at all? What would be cool is when we start talking full on automation, having a system which will mix nutes for you (you can tell it which chart to base it on) and PH accordingly, adjust height of lights as required as well as the dimming of them... But then there are certain requirements which would need to be in place first, such as water intake for the res to be filled automatically. I believe there are systems out there which can do this, but the price is the issue and the average home grower can generally manage by doing it themselves. I think such a system becomes more of a want or need when you are talking big grow, like commercial scale to help run the facility with fewer staff. Not trying to be negative, just giving some info to think about and maybe take a look into. I am one of the more fortunate growers, I have an AC and a dehumidifier so climate is pretty spot on consistently. My AC Infinity fan, I do not even use the feature to adjust the fan speed based on temp and RH, however I do like the fact that there are 10 speed settings and I use those to help balance intake and exhaust air flow rates but I set it manually. I plan on adding a sonoff type of device to the room so I can remotely monitor the RH and temperatures, although it is more just because I can and the devices are cheap. I am moving over to sonoff POW R2 switches to replace my digital timers as they are around the same price but allow me to turn the lights on / off remotely and view the power usage and do so over a period of a few days / weeks / months and easily adjust the light cycle remotely and not have to mission to get a ladder to get to the timer on top of my tent (where I keep mine and my power supplies). I have an automatic watering system which uses a water pump and airpump which run 24/7, so if I need to go away I just top up the res and that will last a few days without me needing to do anything and I can remotely ensure my lights are on via the POW R2. I think for most watering on time would be the issue, but is easily achieved with an automatic watering system. In a situation like mine, I am not seeing much appeal for a product which you are describing. Even thinking about some of my friends who do not have an AC or dehumidifier, very similar situation and they'd likely go for an automatic watering system before monitoring the temps. Changing temps without a heater or aircon isn't always achievable. You can move as much air as you like, if the air you are bringing is in 26C, you won't get the temps below 26C, same for RH. Welcome to the forum though and please stick around!

  44. Sonoff's are excellent and affordable! I just wish they could save data for you to be able to view over period of time. @Autoflow3rif you could write a script that saves the sonoff data somehow I'm sure you could make some money.

  45. What's up dude. Great idea man. I'm also super into the whole remote control thing. I'm still abit of a noob but I manage a few simple things using sonoff switches. They're great. Have had really good success with them. I could be 300km away working and I could monitor some of the basic elements of a perpetual grow. 1) I use a sonoff switch and temp gauge to monitor the temp in my propagation chamber. It switches a heating pad on and off. I keep it at 20 - 24 Celsius. All the little clones love it. Helps alot in the cold winters. 2) I use a sonoff switch, humidity gauge and an extractor fan to control my humidity in both my flowering and vegging tents. Each having their own switch, humidity sensor and extractor. I use a humidifier in the vegetative/mother tent to keep humidity nice and high and then the sonoff will switch the extractor on and off, keeping it at about 65% humidity. The flowering tent has no humidifier and the switch puts the extractor on and off keeping the humidity at 45-55% humidity. Depending on where in the cycle the flowers are. And all these sonoff switches are pretty smart. Known as smart switches. They keep logs of when they switch on and off. You can also remotely change parameters. It's really great.

  47. So let's get some pictures going! Not many and not the best, sorry for the delay. As per another thread I have started, I have an issue with some Root Aphids so trying to deal with that - hopefully this grow won't be affected too badly due to them darn pests. As mentioned, some plants went into flower before others. These plants need a defol and went into flower later so not much in terms of pistils and bud formation yet: These plants went into flower towards the end of June, they were delayed a bit I feel due to the weird light cycle when I messed up the schedule on the sonoff but are now nicely on their way to some good bud being formed. Tent is starting to get nice and smelly now too which only started happening this week. I need to try even out the canopy a bit, may be difficult now as I left them for a bit too long. A mix of strains as you can see, always requires work to get a flat canopy and I have not put the work and effort in as you can see - been busy and then the root aphid issue has kinda been a bit of a downer and put me off the grow a little, part of the reason for the delay in these pics being posted.
