  3. Replanted the twins today, dayum now check them roots my braaa, kan jy sien. Documenting it as all changes should be shown. Still need to get one more pot to replant the slow grower. Mixed Earth Worm Casting from a local farm in Richards-bay called Blue Apple Farm, 50kg for R150! *replanting done on my stoep as wiping away dirt is easier afterwards. (wait until Monday to see the Twins)

  4. @ExoticCannabis2021take a look at what I have brewing in my vet area using this method... Followed by my flower tent. So the only time the plants out grow each other, is if you let them... Keep the canopy level with regular chops... And the whole lot grows uniformly... I try only go for single strain totes, single strain single pheno... So I know it will be uniform

  6. Week 1 Update / Germination Week Day 01 - Dropped seeds into RO water to start germination Day 02 - Dipped seeds in Environoc401 and put them into peat pellets. Put the 3 pellets into a humidity dome and placed on top of a heated bed Day 05 - Girls broke the surface Day 06 - For the 2 girls going into hydro: potted my current grow into soil and cleaned out my system and filled with RO water and added 0.5ml/L TA micro, grow and bloom, 1ml/L of Environoc 401 and 1tsp Mycoroot. PH'ed to 5.8 and EC 0.4. Placed the 2 pellets into net pots with clay pebbles. Thought I'd get the bio life going while I'm waiting for the roots to drop. For the girl going organic: potted the peat pellet into Freedom Farm soil (green bag). Added 1tsp Mycoroot to the bottom of the hole.

  7. Thanks man!!! I'm really trying some new things. Iv been watching the large commercial grows in their large coco beds, and double trellis.. And though how do I do this at home? How do I turn their success... Into my success. So I moved to large totes with multiple plants.... Which worked... But the colas flop over easily and it was a mess... So I added stakes and double trellis per tote... And this is the result... I can't wait for harvest time hahaha The next thing I'm going for, is micro harvests... I have set up the tent on a 10 week cycle, there are 5 totes in my flower tent, which means I harvest a tote every 2 weeks, and then replace it with a tote that's ready for flower. Instead of loading my tent with a full flower set up... And risk running into problems with under developed plants or sickly plants or just issues in general.... Now if I have a problem... I can resolve it easily without being set back 5 months. Down time is now reduced to 2 weeks or a max of 4 weeks

  8. Wow, those look great[emoji7]. I wont lie, that's such a better method of growing. Being in this competition and watching everyone share their methods and stories is really making me start to question everything I've been doing and everything I think I know about Cannabis[emoji28] Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk

  9. Not necessarily a mutation. But yeah I've had a few plants from different strains do that. Simple damage to the growing tip could have caused it

  10. You can't compare my QBs to MH HID lights.. OK, you can, but grow wise my QBs lose.. they win by energy consumption So far I am happy for 3 weeks old plants. They get a re-pot soon.. going into a 10L pot. I only add Epsom as soon as I see a Mg issue. I very much feel the Eskom price hike on my monthly bill. But they had their first 7 finger done end week 3.. wouldn't call it slow

  12. Yep it’s crazy man, there is always a set of tens of thousands of microbes in and around the seed. They lay there dormant waiting for the correct environment, to explode and push through with life processes. In this ways, you have an indigenous inoculation process happening. So if you could imagine adding different types of genetic profiles of plant species, the diversity increases exponentially.

  13. Thanks man. All thanks to FF premium, biobizz, and light from @Light It Up Really have not been spending too much time with them at all. They only get attention when they need water. Once I flip to flower and the phenos really start expressing is when I'm up in their face all day every day with the loupe lol

  14. I stopped brewing teas, might get into it again. I always try inoculate some microbes every week or two straight into the soil. I have seen the differece, although I cannot say which product works best. I got some biodyne at the moment. have used explogrow and various mycorrhizae products.

  15. No this does not happen, in fact quite the opposite happens, the more variety that can be grown in one place, studies show that they act as a vaster network of nutrient assimilation pathways. Essentially they end up working together. One plant being more developed than another in this circumstance could better be attributed to phenotype expression. If you were to grow clones in a bed with a majority of different covercrops, personally I’ve noticed super uniform growth.

  20. Update, I harvested a few plants, and put some from room 2 into flower, and potted up the next batch to go out soon. When I'm finished harvest next week, the 2 remaining will go to flower, and then I will plant the seeds for the next run. Starting a grow report and log of sorts. New layout of flowering plants Things are getting a lot more organized, and moving forward. Thank you

  24. I’m eager to kick up the brewer again and bubble some barley curry just gotta make sure its hot, not hot hot but ya I am using biodyne, and a have used a few microbes inoculation products, they say the mycorrhiza is the best ROI in agri feed programs. Biodyne works okay, better outside in the garden than in a amended mix I suspect. But can’t say for certain.

  25. This might be slightly off topic but since we are talking about elemental blends and organics, we can't ignore the importance of MICROBES aswel, so what do you guys think of Biodyne? And specifically adding it to your teas? Is it maybe over kill?

  28. Urg, that must of been pretty frustrating man. All that work for a bunch of insects to destroy your crop. I'm glad to hear you are Thrip free now though[emoji16]. Even happier to know neem oil works Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
    2 points
  29. This is exactly what caused me to fail the previous grow off. I'm convinced Thrips never go away once they reach the tent, BUT, I've been spraying Neem 3x a week for a good 1-2years now and the trip population seems dead. We don't want to kill thrips, because that involves chemicals, the goal is to starve them to death. Neem makes the plant taste undesirable to them and causes the thrip colony to slowly die off. *This round I sprayed BioNeem from day 1, just to be sure I'm clean this round.

  32. They do state if purchasing the seabird guano, it’s high in nitrogen. But after much thought around these types of amendments, Guanos in general should be considered high in nitrogen always
    2 points
  33. Wow, I never knew that. That's pretty awesome [emoji108] Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
    2 points
  34. Ya that’s the only thing with high nitrogen inputs, either you’ll be using up all the available nitrogen before it becomes a problem, or you could pump microbes enough not to displace the tied up nitrates, but then anything you add after that including microbes will off set that and boom free nitrates again.

  37. Week 3 - Day 21(28/05/2021) What a F***ed up day. Spent the day in the tent having a closer look at the plants to make sure theres no other issues. On close inspection, i found some pests eating away at the seedlings. After that i took a look at each and every plant in the grow room and found a variety of issues. All listed below. On all 3 of the Tortini seedlings i found Thrips. On multiple other plants in the Veg grow room i found a combination of Thrips, Fungas Knats and Spider Mites. There was a fair amount of bugs, but not too serious. Ive also been aware of the Fungas Knats and i control them with the sticky fly traps which usually works for me In the flower tent, the situation was much more horrific. In two of my plants in flower i found an entire Spider Mite infestation. NB: The flower tent and veg tent are next to each other. Absolutely frustrated i proceeded to purchase a bottle of Bioneem and diluted 10ml per 1L and took out every single plant from both tents and sprayed them with excessive amounts of the mixture. I also sprayed the tent walls and floor with the mixture. In retrospect i should have calmed down before spraying down my plants. Nonetheless, in my haste, i dropped the EHG-COCO, and tore a bunch of roots. I washed off the roots with plain tap water, then repotted with new coco, added in some mycos, watered with EHG nutes at PH of 6.0 and EC of 0.5 with Biodyne added. Run off was PH 6.1 and EC 0.4. I've now dropped both the EHG-COCO and HORTIMIX-COCO plants in a space of two weeks with both plants having damage to roots. They most probably will be out of the comp but Im too much of a sucker to give up hope on them, so i will include them in all updates as apart of the comp. Plus Im still keen on HORTIMIX vs EHG and i hope others are aswell. I will not be at home for a week, so i wont be able to really have a look at how the plants are doing, but ive got a friend whos going to just pop in and take some pics and water them if required, so ill post those updates. Whilst away i will be researching the most efficient way to get rid of my spider mites infestation. If anyone knows someone that sells lady bug colonies in SA please let me know. Here are the pics:

  39. See the issue with OrgaSoilux, that my partner and I changed in our mix, if i may... Also not a knock at OrgaSoilux either, But we have found no matter the source of Guano, you going to get differences that you cant account for, and this can or could be the reason for some bags being hotter than others, and some plants not liking their lives. You cant dictate the birds or bats diet, unless you feed them yourself.

  40. These ladies have massive leaves. I have topped 1 and 2. #3 I am leaving to her own devices. #2 I am topping 2 maybe 3 times and #1 I will be main lining. Well that's the plan anyway. So her are some before and after pics. Oh have not watered since explogro. No need just yet.

  41. iGrowDagga chopped the head off his plants what? Pinched with my nail, hoping to get atleast 4-8 branches from this FIM, but most likely I'll only get 2. *Please note the color of pots, I ensure it's visible in each picture so that we can see which plant is which. Here I FIM'd the Black pot and Light Green pot.

  42. So we 13/14 days old now, 3 weeks gone. The girls are doing good, I seem to have been under-watering them. Obviously trying to stay on the side of caution, but since Thursday, I’ve been giving it a good go. Watering around the base and interior area to give a good saturation as I had installed the blumat soaker hose yesterday. Small bit of inner veinal yellowing seems to continue on so I have given 1ml per L fish hydrolysate which actually dosage calls for 5-10ml per Litre, I have been using it wrong this whole time, but I doubt I’ll be going over 1ml, that’s madness. I fed on Thursday, and they seemed to really enjoy it. They soil must be quite depleted on N, which is not a good thing at all. Will navigate as best I can. 5 weeks to go

  48. I am using a CO2 setup. 100kg bottle has lasted 4 months already and it’s still got half left I think. The Suremix (food grade) CO2 cost R1000.00 CO2 in my grow room is easily adjustable. At the moment around 800ppm. Grow room is sealed off. The monthly rental for the bottle is expensive, around R300/month! I want to buy my own bottle sometime. I mainly use it to ensure sufficient ambient co2 is available, as Prom said it’s another mission to maximise its potential. I’m not there yet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  50. Seagrow in extremely small quantities once in a blue moon has helped me indoor, but I prefer not to use it as it's v easy to overuse imho. Try and make a Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) using cannabis leaves & brown sugar. This is what I feed from day 1 on my seedlings, foilar spray/feed After week 3 I add a bit of Epsom to the foilar spray.
