I have finally cleared the backlog and my veg tent is going to be empty from tomorrow. The slurricane mother has been my favorite plant this year, and keen to see her offspring.

Day 10. So two seeds of each planted. Only one of each germinated. If you look on the bright side it's a 50% hit rate. Ah well, you win some and you loose some. But in true DAMMIT DAVE style, loose one, plant another two. Indoor grow appearing soon on a small screen in your hand. The x Slurricane is reaching for the skies, almost double the height of the x Ghost Train. Plants have been getting yard time since they broke surface then under light so 24/0. Could it be the light or a stretchy plant. Suppose I'll find out with the indoor run. Hoping to move them to the shade house end of the weekend. 4 x 20l pots take up all my veg area. @Bakstein420 Problem is they are ready to be cured as they are dry now. The others not far behind. Washing them and getting them wet again probably not such a good idea?

You could do a bud wash, that should stop any shit spreading inside the jars.

Morning Gents :D So everything going very well until this morning when I came across this in the drying tent. Firstly, it is PM right? 2ndly, any suggestions on what I should do now? The plants are whole (small plants), been cut and have been drying for 12 days now, snapping when I break the stems to tell me they are ready. The PM is only on the top of a couple stems that are hanging upside down drying. The others are fine for now. I think I caught it early as I never noticed anything yesterday. Drying temp has been between 21 & 24 (figuring ways of getting it colder) and RH has been between 50% & 62% (most of the time it's been at around 52%). We had 2 days last week that were very humid , like 87% ambiently), and it pushed my dry tent RH to about 64% for those 2 days. Probably where it came from. So guys, now what is the best tactic here? I'm very happy with the way my buds turned out and it would be a travesty if PM were to fuck this up right at the last minute! PS - the few that have this PM on their stem are ready to be cured. Is there any way I can stop it spreading to the others that are still hanging, and from spreading inside the curing jar to the buds? I do have a collapsable dry net, should I clip buds off the stems and transfer to that?

So to be blunt - yes you can definitely harvest - trim - and jar on the same day do you want to? no. the reasons are as follows. the bud has way too much moisture in it - if you jar right away, RH would hit 100 in a few min, yes... minutes, so you would need to leave the jar open anyways to wait for the rh to drop to an acceptable level, which will be in a good 3- 4 days minimum. if you neglect the rh even for a moment... mold and pm and budrot will set in like wildfire! so not ideal the buds may feel dense on harvest day, but even the densest buds get all soft and squishy the first few days of drying and water loss, so jarring them will likely end up squashing the buds in their moerin..

Perhaps a better question, then, is: Since drying is always requirement, but is not necessary to be dried all the way, at which point do I know that the buds are ready to go from their minimum dried state into jars? I do read all your answers I promise, just learning here and want to be sure. I am grateful for your time. Thank you

I've read over a few times but to me, it was still unclear whether I can take the buds straight from harvest to jar, no drying at all. or only that it's fine now because they've been drying a while... Sorry, sometimes I need it to be spelled out as there is not much room for error in this, LOL, but thank you for clearing that up :) Also, good to know it cannot in any way, ever be nutes coming out the stems. Budwashing sounds like a good step to add as a preventative and after a little reading, it looks like it's a good practice anyway, will do in future. Thanks I still think the packs could problematic though. I left some weed in a jar over 2 days now with a 62% pack, and it's way too dry in there now, like under 50%. Ambient RH is higher than what's in the jar. The lids and rings are new, no leaks. I've tested now with 4 different mini-hygros. But the proof is in the pudding -the weed is too dry, not nice to work with. Also has become a little harsher..... IDK. I think I'll use the packs like a desiccant to bring RH down inside jars, then remove them once at 60% and monitor. If they get over 65% I'll put the packs back in again They are old packs also, about 3 years but don't know if they can expire. There aren't an exp dates on the packs.

Seems @CreX has already give you all the info but that is not nutes and appears to be some type of mold. The plants are not like a storage tank where they keep the nutes just like that, I have harvested plants without ever doing any flush and never had that happen. It is not nutes. It is also not PM... PM looks very different and usually starts on the leaves. Doing a budwash before drying can help as it may get rid of spores already on the plant as well as other shit too. You always need to and want to hang the plants up to dry and lose majority of their moisture before you put it into the jars. Best is to use a hygrometer to monitor the RH once in the jars and ensure the Integra / Boveda maintains the RH in the correct region, if it is too high then you can "burp" the jars by leaving them open for a while and then closing them again and then monitoring the RH - if its still too high then you continue this process until enough moisture has been released that the Integra / Boveda is able to maintain the correct RH. As for the Integra 62% being lower, it could be your hygrometer is not that accurate or perhaps the lid on your car does not seal properly.

LOL and stop tasting the shit man hahaha man thats actually funny hahaha oh and a budwash is a good practice if you feel that your harvest may be tainted by something. as for your concern about inside the jars, you must manage the RH. either manually with a hydrometer, or with bovidas or some kind of 2 way humidity product. pm and mold will grow in RH higher than 67% so get some 64% sachets and some 58% sachets.

It's worth mentioning I just tasted it with tip of my tongue, thinking that if it's salt, it should taste salty? It does not But not sure if ionic salts taste salty, though? Jury is still out LOL

The earliest auto flowering i had started around the 3 weeks. This is what she looked like below. And she didnt turn out too bad. And this was with my basic floodlight and sun. So i would think theres still some hope bro.

@Ill_Evan Okay thanks. Yes, very handy to know what I'm working with here first LOL @CreX any advice is very appreciated :) I'll hold off on doing anything that can't be taken back in the meantime. For now though, I think the ones that are dry are going to get trimmed into neat little buds and placed into a jar. I'll label it PM so I know to watch for it in that jar especially.

Right now the plan is: 1 - Identify and separate the few that have mold on their stems. These are ready to be cured already. I'll trim the buds nicely and throw them inside jars with Integra Boost packs (I have 55% and 62%). That should keep the humidity low, and starve the PM. Hopefully? Any thoughts here? 2 - The others (most) that are not showing any signs of PM, as far as I can see we have 2 options: Option A is to just cut all stems away, trim down into buds, and finish up the drying process with my DryNet. I was trying to avoid this because flipping buds so they don't go flat sounds time consuming. AND Option B is to make a strong solution of copper soap, then wipe down the stems with it. Try get the RH down in the tent as much as possible and hope it doesn't spike in nature, then hopefully finish the process. I'm just concerned as to how I'm going to stop the PM from spreading inside the jars among the buds.... Eish....

I may be wrong but the way I understand it, when the plant is in flowering mode it focuses more on the buds than roots so I don't think you need to put in another pot, a few roots at the bottom is fine. Looking at the pistils again and I've realized you are not actually that far into flower either, my apologies... However, potting up almost always comes with a decent amount of stress.

The more I think about this, I feel as though there may still be a little misunderstanding here. I mean, I know under normal circumstances one definitely wants to dry before curing. To explain better, I mean in my current situation where I already have mold inside the tent on the drying pieces, I was unsure of whether I should, as an emergency tactic, skip the drying phase on the newcomers to the dry tent to avoid the mold spreading to them, and wanted to know if that's what you meant. But since then, that had already been made clear to me by PsyClown earlier. They still need to be dried. Thanks, though. Cheers

@ bayseeds You got hawks eyes my man, well done of that spot the difference - i always am suspicious of any images especially if multiple ones arent provided per strain - but yes doing an image reverse search on google will also bring up any other webpages that that specvific image has been used on too so theres a nice hint for how to due due diligence befopre purchasing but this highlights another issue on why we need regulation, onus shouldht be on the consumer to have to perform a background check & audit of everything little detail - this is why im so adamant on supporting local breeders, people with ethics and morals - its the only way we'll flush this type of underhanded behaviour from the market is by instilling confidence amongst us growers that buying locally is best - minimal duds, no bullshit, always top quailty that way people who dont provide top quality DEPENDABLE shit will simply cease to exist as they wontbe able to scam any more people into buying their shit because who knows what you actually getting enough is enough - we have to take this matter into our own hands *Drops mic*

yeah it has to be salt buildup - no other explaination - taste wont be neccesarily salty just because the compound is in its salt form, so the taste will vary greatly on what makes up the salt. I Think we got this one busted hey, hopefully one of the heavy hitters will confirm the theory (this reply was meant to be posted directly after my last but data kakked out)

Thanks so much for your detailed answer @PsyCLown :) Will def take all those things into consideration. I've known the Integra packs to work well in the past, not sure why it's doing this now, but it is still very much gel inside, feels new, no crystaline powder at all. Weird. Like all the other little things, I'll just keep monitoring and make adjustments as I go along. I actually have a CVault including a bigger Boveda pack it came with so will give them a bash soon. Just wanted to keep harvests separate in the beginning as I've been experimenting with early & late harvesting, plus now, some might get mold and I'd like to keep those separate anyway. Thanks again

So most people like to use the bending of the stem to tell how far it is with regards to being dry. This is a decent guideline but I have jarred bud where the larger stems did not snap. I also use the RH inside the drying area (I used a tent) as a gauge. I compare the RH inside the tent to the RH outside the tent and I have a PC fan blowing air from inside the tent out to ensure there is air flow and its not just stale. As the bud dries, it will release moisture and increase the RH inside the tent - as it dries up there wont be as much moisture being released and this will lead to the RH inside the tent ending up very close or the same as the RH outside the tent. This can be used as a guide to further assist in telling how much water the bud has gotten rid of. With time and experience, you will get better at telling when its ready to be put into jars. Lots of factors to consider - a big, dense bud will not dry out as quickly as a big, airy bud or as a small dense bud for example. So drying times may differ between plants, even if they are harvested at the same time. I have never used Integra packs, I assume they're pretty much the same as a Boveda. If so, then as the pack dries out it will turn from liquid into a crystaline like powder (at least this is what it feels like). Maybe get a Boveda pack to compare.

the slooooow dry is only in place to allow the chlorophyll to break down and reduce the harsh smoke from that. so even though they may still be moist, they are ready to be trimmed and jarred. first few days you may beed to monitor the rh closely as they will make the rh climb high

if you have a hydrometer like it sounds like you do, then only burm if RH hits 65%, then burp it until its lower than your humidity pack. by burp, i just mean leave the jar open for a bit. then close it and rinse wash repeat until the jar doesnt increase in RH when its closed... if you dont have a hydrometer, then the rule i followed was burp daily for 30min for 1 week, then burp every 2nd day for 15 min for the 2nd week, and then you should be good to go.

@CreX just checking bud, so you mean even if the others are not snap-dry-ready yet, cut the buds and jar them? Or only the ready ones? I could put them with the 55% Integra Boost packs. Or do you mean to keep drying the ones that need time?

A new development... So cut off the affected stems, then wiped down remaining areas with copper soap solution. Dried it off well with a dry paper towel immediately after. While doing this I must have got some of the white "dust/mold" on my arm. It started to burn a little, same as my nutes do when I get it on me. So now I'm thinking there is a chance it could be nutes? Or @CreX do you think it's 100% PM, no questions

LOL okay I'll stop now ;) haha Okay cool, this only became apparent today, so a budwash wouldn't have been the right treatment here because they were already dry, but maybe a budwash before drying would prevent it from happening in future? Then luckily I have Integra Boost packs (similar thing to Bovidas). They are 55% and 62%. Trouble I'm finding with the 62's are that they are going drier than that, according to my little hygrometer, like 57/58% but I suppose that's not a bad RH to have anyway. On burping, would you or anyone care to share a good baseline technique that I can finetune with time. Like how many burps per day, how long for week 1 , week 2 etc etc. There are 5 trillion different opinions online, hoping experience can give me a better answer. Thanks!

1 - Identify and separate the few that have mold on their stems. These are ready to be cured already. you nailed it man... thats straight up mold from high RH in your dry room. i think you must reduce the dry days by quite a few until you have all your environmental controls in place to maintain RH exactly ...or atleast better. if there is no mold on the leaves or buds, i would get rid of the affected stems asap and start jarring your stuff... i have not seen PM on stems unless its a proper bad infection... but that would be more on your leaves and bud...

@Psylecta ya man, I thought it was logical haha... So it never tasted like anything, my tongue did have a sort of tingly sensation after where it touched. LOL I'm using the GHE FloraCoco range, not sure they'll taste like anything either... als not sure it's a good idea to put that on my tongue tho LOL... aren't synthetic ionic nutes toxic? No idea LOL (and yep, my plants are hanging and drying like in your picture)

ROTFLMAO - dude you must be mindreading me because i was gonna say if you brave you could try tasting it - Mold or mildew wouldnt taste like anything other than fluff lol. open the cap of your nutes and run your pinky along the inside/underside of the cap and taste - should be identical/very similiar tasting

@Psylecta Yes, actually that makes sense. The 1st one's trichomes started going amber surprisingly early, and so they only had about 6 days of no food, just PH water. So that then makes sense why the 1st ones that went in the dry tent are getting this.... It does seem a little sparkly in the photos, like crystals of some kind, maybe nutes.... The other ones would have had 2 weeks or so flush, and that's why they are clear.... It's a hypothesis at this point but sounds plausible. Having said that I couldn't wait to try some before it was cured and it is very very smooth.... A lot of literature online says it should have been harsh but nope.... actually some of the smoothest I've ever smoked.

its definately possible because now that you mention it whenever i spill my nutes on the counter it dries to the same crystal formation and has a shiny appearance just like this but ive never seen a zoomed in pic of it so im not sure - but very possible but that if that is the case then only explanation would be that you maybe didnt flush the plants or fed just before chopping my cam is a shitty 14mp but i'll snap a pic of the dried out residue on the counter to attempt to compare the two

Here's some macros of it, maybe make it easier for ID. At first I thought it was Diatomacious Earth residual dust. But then it wouldn't make sense that it's only the ones that have been in there the longest, and the others are all fine, when I used DE on all of them. Could it be salts or similar? Looks organic and growing to me but I lack the experience

If possible. Maybe give them a day or 2 in the sun.

So both of these @1000Hills Nursery wedding cake x Smeeting are in flower now, confirmed this morning for sure that they are both female, super lucky!!! The plant behind this other WCxSM Same pot/soil amended... One layered and the other diluted with no training, I would have diluted both if I knew what I knew now about layering soil. (IT DOES NOT WORK!) Upwards and onwards, the first girl underwent some decent transplant stress but now she is doing well at least. The growth of this plant is quite substantial, if I did not mess around in the beginning, I'm sure I would have been this far in half the time, however happy to be here, I'm told this strain will put out some deep exotic colours. Roughly week 3 flower.

I think it's actually the larger one that had light deficiency. The leaves are about the same size (slightly larger on the smaller plant) but the one plant has a 10cm long stem (it shot up in the dark during the first day). I've had the bestva 600 (why they call it 600 is beyond me, they claim its equivalent to 400 Watt hps but it only draws 132 Watt) on them since and the vertical growth has all but stopped for the last 2 days.

I do as little as possible. I do however spend time watering the plants every day. But mostly I just try to keep it simple. It starts with a good soil. This is my 3rd round of growing in the same soil this year. And spend money on good genetics. Buy clones from reputable people or try to find good seeds some where and grow regular seeds. You will see the difference. @Totemic just lauched some nice seeds at a good price check out his site or buy here on the forum.

As a community we should just boycott bullshitters and people that that want to make excessive amounts of profit and deliver sub par product.. We all work our asses of to afford the luxury of getting wat we want.. and then to be scammed... not nice.. Important is that your happy with what you ended up with.. If not... JUST DON'T USE THEM AGAIN IF THEY CAN'T CORRECT THE ISSUE... and make sure everybody else is made aware that they should be wary and alert....
