  1. Hey guys. I have a new question that I'm just going to add onto here. My question is, has anyone built a space bucket before or know of someone who did, and any tips or advice that you can give about them?
  2. Well I am only one tenant and we are quite a few so who knows what other people are hiding, but from my side it's only weed lol.
  3. @420SA I would prefer to start off small as this would be my first attempt. Same reason why I would want to do it as cheap as possible. The hidden compartments are big enough for about 3-4 pots of plants, the problem would be height. The space underneath the floorboards are probably 0,5m. Electricity would definitely also be a problem as the 'hatch' would have to be slightly open to allow a cable to run into it. The owner or agent rarely enters my room, as they are not allowed to enter. I think the best chance would be in my closet - it would be a lot easier to even just grow 1 plant in there without hiding it in another box - the only problem would be the smell. Would you suggest I rather wait until I move into another premises to try outdoor grow first before trying to grow indoor? Regarding the closet, if I do manage to get a pot small enough and have it inside a case, or not even bother with a case at all and just have the plant sit in my closet, how would watering exactly work? It will make a mess most probably, wouldn't it? I can sort out electricity for the closet, but my biggest concerns would be the smell and how to water it. @4207365 I understand the economics you're saying, but flaunting dagga plants in the yard will just invite trouble. It has to be discreet. I am a tenant after all. I might be able to grow a plant outside without having the owner or agent notice, but the gardener would definitely notice, and either rip it out or let the owner know. My safest option for now would be inside my room where no suspicion can be raised. I'm not too worried about yield return - as I said, I just want to learn how to grow and the first few attempts will most likely definitely fail. The goal would be to grow my own weed instead of having to buy - but I am very patient so if that only happens in a year or two then so be it. Also just to comment on the quantity of dagga. Less is definitely safer. If you are caught with 115 grams or more then you can be charged with drug dealing - which carries a hefty sentence. If you have even just 1 plant then you can also be charged with drug dealing, but it's a lot easier getting rid of 1 plant. If you only have 20 grams on your premises then you will most likely just get a small fine (which you definitely should not pay as it is an 'admission of guilt fine' which will get you a criminal record), and the case wouldn't go any further in court. Thanks for your input guys.
  4. I completely understand the rationale behind not giving out personal information. What I'm saying that is from an activity point of view this might be the cause for low activity. Maybe, (and it's important to note, maybe), allowing people to decide for themselves if they want to reveal personal information, even if it's only to one or two close members on the forums, then forum administration should maybe allow them to do so? If they fully understand the risk involved of course. That's basically what me and the other poster were hinting at. For some anonymity is a good thing, for some it might drive them away from the forums. I understand the rationale behind the rules of the forums, but maybe allowing users the right to choose for themselves might be a better option. From an activity point of view. @420SA I haven't found that members are rude or disrespectful to anyone, including myself. I have just noticed skepticism and that does have to do with my 'unsuitable' living environment, but asking for good advice and getting snarky remarks instead is not what this forum is supposed to be about. We are all here for advice, information and to share experiences, whether that be successful or failed attempts at growing. Or am I wrong?
  5. Me and my mates would probably end up going - the only problem is that it's over the same weekend as RAG, so we will first have to discuss it.
  6. The sooner the US and Russia realize that 'regime change' and internal political interference causes more problems than solving them, the sooner these troubled regions can become safer and create a stable environment. Gaddafi warned that islamic extremists would be a great danger if his government was overthrown. Sometimes it's better to have a dictatorship or strong government keeping control over a population than letting them run around doing as they please, as brutal as that sounds. Both Hussein and Gaddafi was seen a pariahs by 'the West' and 'violators of human rights' (although only when it suited the West, when the US needed terrorists interrogated they were more than happy to have Libya do the torturing). If a country's government is overthrown then there is a power vacuum - and everyone wants power. Suddenly you have 3-8 different groups fighting each other for power, but when the government was in control they managed to have authority and control its population. This is what the US and Russia does not really understand, more the US though - but Russia is going the same path as the US with its involvement in ex-Soviet territories.
  7. From my little experience so far on these forums, as a new person looking for information and help on how to grow, you're met with immediate skepticism. I also really think the forums take anonymity too seriously, as one of the others posters mentioned. If you want to protect your identity and have privacy that is your right, but those who do not wish to do so should be able to use the forums openly (not as an anonymous person). They should just fully understand the risks that entails though. This is a bit off-topic so my apologies for that, but a competition does sound like a good idea. The obvious problem is first finding a sponsor for the competition, but also ensuring that the newer growers who do not have that much experience can participate in the competition and stand a chance to win the prize. The criteria for winning shouldn't be set too high. Just my two cents. Obviously the sponsor of the competition would decide on these type of things.
  8. A few of us are smokers so obviously we each have a bankie in our rooms, so yes a search by police could most likely net them 20g of weed, not to mention the plant. I'm sure none of you want police searching your house either, nor would you want to take an unnecessary risk to invite them inside...
  9. I can't grow outside - the agent and owner will see weed plants growing in their garden and immediately suspect us. We don't want police searching our entire house. That's very risky.
  10. Okay guys so I really want to grow a plant. My problem I think currently is my entire situation that will prevent me from trying to grow a plant. I think the only way to learn is to ultimately mess up to learn from the mistakes, so I don't actually expect my first plant to survive . I want to ultimately get into the art of growing, and not just for consuming the yield of the plant, but for now I want to basically save money by not having to buy weed . My questions are: Where do I get good quality seeds from? Can I use the seeds from the weed I buy from my dealer first as a test? What would your advice be for a student living in a commune (with 12 guys, most smoke) to grow a plant? Problem here is the owner and agent of the commune are on the property almost daily. Our rooms have 'hidden' compartments under the wooden floor, would that be a good place to hide it? Another suggestion I have is in my closet - I have a decently sized closet that's basically used for storing boxes and shopping bags - would it be possible to have a set-up in there with no odour coming from my room? It would certainly be very risky to grow at the commune, but as I said I would really like to do a test run. Also, what is the average yield from the average plant? I know it probably varies greatly, but how much can you expect from a plant? I am a consumer, so I want to consume . How expensive does the typical indoor set-up cost? I see people with really fancy equipment, but I'm talking about the basic set-up that just grows the plant and let it flower properly. We have had a few plants grow in the garden by itself because of the seeds that somehow end up in the flower bedding. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. I'm reading thread-by-thread carefully to try and learn, I must say all the lingo confuses me but a few more days/weeks/months and I will have the hang of it .

    Big Buddha Cheese, sounds delicious.
  12. So I see you guys don't really do politics - but it's very important for every South African to actually be aware of what is going on. As you all know President Zuma is on his second term and he will have to vacate the King's throne soon - although some do speculate that he will try to run for a third term, but this won't happen. So who do you guys think will be the successor? Who will the ANC pick as its top candidates (and remember that it's important to consider who the ANC will choose, and not who the voters like) and who will be chosen as President of the ANC in the 2017 national conference?
  13. For about a year and a bit yeah. Mostly 'greenhouse', never tried indoor though, way too pricy for a student like me haha.
  14. Well the majority of people of Bloem has left for the holidays anyway, and I doubt there is someone from Bloem on here in the first place, so no worries then.
