Are you getting to runoff before you stop watering the pot? 420SA[/member] negatory on the runoff... there may be a drop or two but not more than that. I try water slowly to savor the moment with my ladies. The DA apparently says every drop counts Will keep everyone posted. I assume she will take about two weeks to start showing recovery

Pure coco will retain more water than soil. OP has mixed 30/40% perlite which should help. My concern was actually way more about the plastic pots as they don't breath well - even with holes. It would make sense that it only an issue now (mid-winter). It is colder, so less evaporation happens off of the soil medium, and the plant transpires less because it is cold. Which means the plant pulls less water out of the medium. To give an example, I have other plants I grow in plastic pots. I had to water them everyday in summer, and only once a week at the moment - I actually killed a plant by water twice a week at the moment. However, it could be something else, the only way to really test is to see if the same thing happens to the fabric pots in the same circumstances Good thinking Trickerst[/member]... didnt consider the winter effect and the water retention. Disagree with that one. Coco is used for its water retention so if there isn't enough aeration medium with the coco, overwatering is definitely a possibility. Have you got aeration medium in your mix? If so, how much? I have about 30-40% perlite mixed in. Feeding every single day until decent run off, never experienced any over watering issues That's most likely cos you have enough perlite in your mix to enable the roots to breathe. I experienced overwatering issues in a 90/10 coco perlite mix in my early days of growing, if there isnt enough aeration medium the roots will drown if watered too much 420SA[/member] the over watering could be the culprit. I too am on a 90/10 mix with this lady and even though i only water her every 4 days with 10% of the total volume of the container. I'll wait till the whole container is light instead of just checking the top with my finger.

Thanks 420SA[/member] Ill give her a longer wait between waters to test the theory. The plastic pots seem to generally keep water in the soil for longer even if you drill holes in the side. My fabric pots outside always dry out quicker and get feather light which is usually my water trigger. Really thought the half a finger rule was good enough for my inside lady. Shes been in veg mode since end of May. May just pop her outside to finish up and start a new round for spring. Thanks team. Will keep everyone looped on the water results as to help others

Thanks for the reply 420SA[/member] Admin. The coco has a perlite, turbogrow, bonemeal and wormcastings (all very light doses) She is in a 15L Plastic pot with holes in the side. I feel it may be a temp issue cause as i said she is at 18celcius and the ones i put outside generally heal up with some sun on the leaves. Your thoughts?

Howdy, recently I've noticed some downward leaf curl on new growth similar to eagles claw and some of the older leaves have weird edges. Some leaves also feel dry as a nuns box (Have tried using Freedom Farm Kelp foliar spray but no good) I suspect it could be an environment issue as temps recently dropped here and I've changed my water source. No idea what is going on. When I take them outside they correct after 2 weeks but i dont want this mom outside as she is my clone provider. Please assist because its doing my head in seeming the mom like this. Thanks for the words @Longlee. I got the beans from a private breeder and grow comrade on the east coast. He sent me 5 to experiment with and this is the first one I've popped. Also very keen to see how it progresses! Stay tuned to the weeks ahead and here's to the love of the plant.

Double Diesel WEEK 5-8 The seedling seems to be enjoying the medium, looks like my coco combo is working well. From week 2-4 (see thread further up) we saw the initial leaves pop through, by this week 8 we see node three starting to break through. This is a a key node as the fourth i top and start the training. First HST (High Stress Training by topping) then LST bending (Low stress train to re-organize the main stem nutrient line). Not everyone HSTs or LST but i does increase yield and creates a better bush to gaze upon. Another good reason to top and bend as mentioned is the re-organization of the nutrient line. By topping you increase bottom branch growth and by bending you fool the plant into thinking those bottom branches are the new primary stems and this inturn increases growth. So below we see the week 8 stage of growth. Still in the 4inch hydro pot and only watered 4 times over the three weeks. Alternating between plain 6pH water and freedom farm kelp and biobizz grow half dose bottom feeding. Stay tuned for the next installment when we top and bend.

A special harvest from Feb 2018. Strain: Columbia Gold from World of Seeds supplied by Mushi goat. Dried for 6 days and cured for 3 weeks. Total dry weight 45g. Excellent flavour and sticky icky icky.

Week 2-4 (SEEDLING) The grow diary for double diesel continues. I'll get straight into it because it's been a busy time these last two weeks. I left off the previous week ie week 2 with a glimpse at the seedling post germination at 2 weeks. I skipped last weekends update because not much rooting had occurred and you can't rush nature. This is also an important part for growers, because the next step as seen in my uploads is to check for healthy rooting. Whether you using a jiffy or rockwool, you want to ensure good rooting occurs from the main tap root that shoots out after germination. Some growers like like lots of little roots to poke through and I like a few small ones, there's no real wrong or right, just so long as your roots are white and have moisture to reach out towards and air. This root exposure together with the first new leaf sprouts indicates it's time to move up to the first home for the seeding and expand the root mass. This first transplant is important for me, I like to ensure i have all the right items like the medium, container and feed ready before i start and remove the rockwool from the propagator. Try avoid going straight into the final pot as it increases the chances of overwatering, ie too much soil for a little guy that barely has roots is like putting a teenager in a tittybar, too much possibility of wetness leads to early tears, and its actually easier to maintain smaller pots and move up in stages. STEP 1 As mentioned for this round ill be skipping my regular Freedom Farm medium choice for coco. It means i can show you my feeding schedule sooner. For this round i prepared 3L of buffered coco in a bucket, I used pH 5.8 water, always pH your water correctly and other elements such as 5 teaspoons of worm castings, 2 teaspoons Turbogrow, 1 teaspoon Bonemeal and 2 cups of perlite. I used less than the recommended doses as you dont want to over do it, coco is forgiving and a good starting medium for beginners, you can always reset it back to neutral with a flush but better to just give the seedling a little helping hand. STEP 2 I mix up all the components and prepare the container by adding 3/4 of the coco mix to it, i like using the small hydro plastic pots with slits on the side, this makes watering easy because i can just add water to a small bowl and dunk the pot in it so the feeding happens from the bottom as nature intended and it promotes air to pass into the soil from all sides. I also like to keep it as mentioned in the previous thread to about 4 inches of medium to begin with and this plastic pot is perfect for that. They cost about 8bucks so not expensive either. STEP 3 Once i have transplanted her and filled in the sides I give her a very small welcome home water with some Freedom Farm Kelp nutrients also at half dose, the kelp is good for root stimulation and leaf growth. I then place her under the lights and the journey begins into veg. It will take another 2-4 weeks before her root mass is ready for inspection and ill take weekly shots to show you the progress. Not much will happen feed wise here as over two weeks ill probably only give her a watering 4 times and alternate between pH5-6 water and half dose Biogrow. And as promised here is the Durban Poison. My number 2 clone from the Mother which i got as a seed from GSR seeds. She has been an absolute joy to grow. Learnt a lot as at one point my pH was 8 and she started to go toxic, luckily after a flush with the right water, time and some TLC she bounced right back... even gave me some daughters Currently on week 2 of flower. in a fabric pot and freedom farm soil. Nutrients include Biobizz bloom and fish and FF Kelp and Microlife. Next week is lollipop week so stay tuned cause she is bushy as heck

Greetings fellow members of 420SA Today I embark on documenting my first time grow of Slowtownbuds R1 strain of Double diesel aka Sour Diesel x Critical Mass I have always wanted to share a grow cycle as I have learnt alot and feel sharing the knowledge for all to discuss and learn from (including me) is vital to the culture and love of the plant. So every Sunday I will document the growth and let you all know how things are progressing. Currently she is sitting at week 2 since germination. Attached is the setup and the seedling. So without further faffing lets begin: Setup: - Tent: Mammoth Pro 1x1 (avail from hydroherbafrica) - Light: 1200w Morsen Full spectrum COB (avail from little baked potato) - 2 settings 600w and 1200w. For the beginning of every grow i only use half power and keep the light half a meter from the canopy / propagator - Medium: Rockwool then coco (I would usually use freedom farm soil but for this run ill show you the nutrient schedule sooner with coco) In the beginning: As i said, the current seedling is two weeks in from being popped into the rockwool. I also like jiffies but for the four inch air prune rule ( rule youtube) i find rockwool is a better start. Prepping the rockwool is key, i soak it in ph 5-6 water for 1 hour so it becomes saturated. I squeeze it just a bit to release any excess water because seeds don't like being drenched. Then i make new small hole just below the surface... just deep enough for the seed to be seen from above. I take care placing the seed pointed side down and cover ever so slightly in a few rockwool fibers. Remember to leave a marker with a date started and the strain if you are running more than one. You really don't want to forget which is which. on a sidenote: I prefer rockwool and jiffies for germination just through my own discovery of methods. I tried the paper towel, the soak in water for 15hrs, the straight to soil, the cotton wool and have personally had the best consistent results with the tow mediums mentioned. Back to it. I then prepare my humidity dome or propagator by spraying water on the inside of the lid. Place my rockwool cube in a tray, make sure no air gets in for the first week by sealing the vents off and place under light on a 19hr on, 5hr off cycle. Light is not such a big concern at the germination stage as heat, air and moisture are. So my lights as seen in the attachment are more for heat production. Back in the day i actually used to keep the propagator in a completely dark space next to a wall heater and it still popped. Give the seed up to two weeks to show her initial two starter leaves for this method. Inspect her every day to ensure the moisture aka humidity is there and pay attention to the heat. Spray lightly if needed on the rockwool to and inside of the dome to add moisture. After the first week, open the vents ever so slightly for fresh air to get in. And that is where we are now.. two weeks in and the starter leaves are up and the vents are open Stay tuned for next weekends update to see how she is doing. Thanks Admin. In that case. Here is a rotation from October 17 that assisted a person needing medical assistance. This is a snapshot of my Colombian Gold and Green Love potion. Both seeds from Mushigoat and both grown in Freedom Farm soil using the biobizz range. The reason i share this snapshot is i thoroughly enjoyed these grows. The structure of the Colombian Gold was amazing and when she flowered it was like looking at a puppy. You just teared up with joy. Attached her last veg day shot and a bud shot on wk7. The green love potion was equally beautiful in structure and scent. Her fan leaves were immense and the stem thick due to me starting her from seed on the 4inch rule. I done a lot of experimenting with her aswel, from air layering to monster cropping and re-vegging later. Plant love to the max.

Just to clarify... What images or graphic design do you require to enter? Images of bud or graphic design of 420 culture?
